Cheers guys. I appreciate the research on Popsike and in your own collections. What a bonus the autograph is on a great double sider. Thanks again.
-
Sorry if this is not in the right section but the 'autograph' is on a record! I bought this recently from the U.S., it did not say on the list that it had 'wol' or that it might be an autograph so it was a bit of a surprise when I saw it. Maybe someone on here has his autograph from when he visited here (I think)? Let me know what you think. Cheers.

I've just received a Jamie Demo from a normally reliable source. I'd just thought I'd check it out as I have not had a copy before. On the A side 'All The Places I've Been) it has J-PHU-1 & 9-19-sound in the run out wax and J-PHU-2 & an what looks like an inverted l and a 3 in the run out wax. Any help would be appreciated. Ta

I bought the 4 Tops 7" in a pic sleeve from a market stall in London around the time of release and found a Promo Flyer inside. I've attached scans of both. I have all 3 versions too. I bought the Laura Lee on a 12" in Greenwich Village in 1982!

HI Pete. The cover has scans of records e.g. Woman Love Thief on Pye Int and an article on Soul Surfing on the Internet in 1997! Way ahead of your time Pete. I see you lived in St Leonards on Sea at the time. -

Bobby Hebb - Evil Women/Judy on Crystal Ball. In EX condition, a couple of surface marks. I can hear some light clicks in the middle of the record but there is no mark on the record to suggest why that is. A sticker has been removed from the label on the flip side 'Judy'. A great modern 'funk' track. £100 inc 1st Class Recorded Delivery or Airmail to Europe. Payment by Paypal GIFT please. PM me if interested. Ta.

I remember hearing This Old Heart Of Mine as a new release like it was yesterday, there was just nothing like it out at the time. I did hear a rumour that The Originals backed Ronnie isley? However, I particularly like Live It Up on TNeck/UK Epic. What a great groove by the band and Jasper's guitar but the vocals by Ronnie & the bros are awesome.

Great! Nice to hear from you Rob. I think we also saw you at the warehouse? I was with John Warner & Rob Hughes and also stayed with Martin. Did you get into his inner sanctum at his house where he had EVERYTHING! Great times.

What about Charles Johnson of Never Had A Love So Good singing Disco Inferno as lead of The Platters! -
This was from about 1987 and the couple in the phot were also from the UK but I cannot remenber their names or where they were from but maybe somone recognises the girl in the foreground! What a great store and the was much more underneath as well as an 'unsorted' room that Martin kept the key to around his neck. Just joking (slightly). I couldn't believe what I was finding in the store itself, I have to admit that I am not a 'rare' soul collector as such, I prefer R&B/Latin stuff. There was also great cafes near by where we saw Robert Plant walking by on day. Just after coming back to the shop after lunch, Martin told us we had just missed John Ellison of the Soul Bros 6. I went over 3 years on the run and it was great each time. We stayed at Martin's house and he had almost as many records in his cellar as the shop, not to mention his warehouse! Any one else on here visit about this time?

Hi Andy. Any chance of you replying to the PM I sent you regarding the Della Reese 45 you were after?
-
It's the original U.S. ABC Paramount version I am offering which is the best version, recorded in the studio. The Stateside version is 'live' and I do not think it was issued as a 45 in the U.S.?

I was enjoying reading the DJ playlists on Craig Moerer's website and was impressed with the great variety of sounds people were playing. Which made me think it might be fun for Soul Sourcers to imagine having a half hour 'spot' in a City 'Funky' Style cafe. 12 sounds - not particularly rare or necessarily danceable, preferably fairly easy to pick up, just sounds that you think people would enyoy hearing over a few drinks. Here's a starter from me; The Amazing Rhtyhm Aces - Mystery Train - ABC great version Rufus Thomas - Memphis Train - Stax Al Greene - Right Now, Right Now - Hi Mel Torme - Right Now - Atlantic Mighty Clouds Of Joy - Time - ABC James Brown -There Was A Time - King The Isley Brothers - Live It Up - Epic The Brothers Johnson - I'll Be Good To You - A&M Jimmy Ricks & Lavern Baker - You're The Boss - Atlantic Erma Franklin - Big Boss Man - Shout Lee Moses - Day Tripper - Musicor El Chicano - Eleanor Rigby - Kapp They dont have to be your favourites or 'top' sounds and you don't have to have my dodgy links either. Just have fun!

Sorry if this has already been done but while digging out an item for another post, I came across this from the olden days, slightly unusual I think. Anyone got anything similar?

Ben E. King - Views On His Career, Photos, Picture Sleeves?
slimharpo replied to nixon's topic in All About the SOUL
I met Ben E King around 1974 after a show he did at The Stables in St Asaph, North Wales! I saw him in his dressing room and I'd taken all my 45s with me hoping to get the sleeves signed. He was more than obliging and told me had none of his records at home as his children wrecked them when they were young. We talked about his past records and where his future lay in terms of bringing it up to date. He told me there were a few things happening and he hoped to get some more stuff out soon. Soon after he released Supernatural Thing which was brobably his biggest ever selling record and gave his carrer a new lease of life. I saw him sing that when he was part of the Atlantic Records tour with The Spinners, Jimmy Castor etc. In terms of his records don't forget his Drifters outings especially Oh My Love the flip of There Goes My Baby. Such powerful vocals with very little orchestral backing, superb. Another of my solo favourites is Hermit Of Misty Mountain, way ahead of its time IMO. Attached is the Stand By Me 45 with signed sdleeve and a hand bill for one of his Twisted Wheel appearances. -
