  2. Thanks for that Ringo As you say why not try.
  3. Hi Ringo. Have I lost the R&B plot? Big Popper/Jape Richardson - Monkey Song is R&B????? It's even awful rockabilly IMO. J.P. doing Buddy Holly! I happen to like Buddy Holly & Chantilly Lace by the way but not together in Monkey Song! Now Baby Washington - I've Got A Feeling - one of THE great Soul/R&B tracks.

  9. One was a James Brown track possibly 'Too Late' played by Sam Evans on Sat afternoon and a female R&B Rocker played in the evening poss by Lorna Beatty, a snippet of the lyrics said 'If you don't give me no nothing you aint going to get no nothing from me' or thereabouts! Great music whenever I went in there. Hope you can help. Cheers.

  15. One of the all time greats IMO. Bought it as a new release and still have it and often play it. A 'cheapie' but valueless in quality.
  16. Further to my initial posting, I have just received a package today of 37 records with a value of $37. I had a customs demand for £4.37 which is half what I had to pay for a package with a $30 value! I expect they are just making rough guesses on what to charge now as they have had no real previous experience. Maybe the office junior is the one given the responsibility by the HMRC to 'cut his teeth' on ripping off Joe Public.

  18. Looks like that's it then. I get 2 or 3 non Internet lists that I enjoy going through and usually bought something, not necessarily rare but quality and cheap. It seems that it will be a rare occurence now. Still one man's misfourtune. Joe is right, it will be a bonus for UK dealers which is not necessarily a bad thing is it?
  19. Particularly given the large increase in postage for the first 45 + the decline in the value of Sterling + I was charged £9 VAT on a package with a customs value of $30 + £8 Royal Mail handling fee. I used to get some very nice items for $5-$10 that I could sell on, but these charges are making it not really worth while to buy reasonably priced items that used to be cheaper to buy from the States, unless it is a must have for your own collection. It may still be worth it for a high value item bought cheaply obviously. Do other buyers have the same observations?
  20. Hi. I said they were nice tuneful pop records. How is that dismissive? Also, look at my earlier post, I said 'colour' is not an issue.
  21. Not quite Pete, I agree with Ric Tic, most made some nice tuneful pop records that were OK for my Mam & Dad to tap their feet to.
  22. I did write 'no soulfoul or even beat merit' Pete
  23. I've come to the conclusion that I must be living in a parrallel musical universe. I hear absolutely no soulful or even 'beat' merit in Alma 'the girl with the giggle in her voice' Cogan, Petula Clark, MaureenEvans, Early Elkie Brooks etc etc. And 'colour' has nothing to do with it. There are many great white female American soul singers, it's just that IMO British girls, brought up on a musical diet of Vera Lynn, Gracie Fields etc did not have the R&B heritage to draw on and therefore their sound was more Northern Region Dance Orchestra than Northern Soul.
  24. Most if not all have original sleeves. All records condition guaranteed, I grade very carefully and do not sell ‘knackered’ discs as VG+. My EX is close to M-. Postage £1.50 in UK any amount.
