Thanks for the tip. I've had a lovely Mint copy for a few years and didn't know it was fetching that price! Ebay here I come unless anyone else wants to pay the going rate? -
I have a UK United Artists Demo for sale on Ebay at the moment at only £4.99!

There is also an Atlantic LP with this track on it as well as The Maytals etc. All tracks were Produced by Jerry Wexler during a visit to Jamaica hence the great quality I think..

Lee Moses - Reach Out I'll Be There/Day Tripper on Musicor issue original. one slight paper line on vinyl EX+ I'd say. Plays faultlessly with no surface noise on intro or run out grooves. £250 inc Special Delivery in UK or Airsure elsewhere. I know I'm asking a lot but this copy is much better than those I have seen on Ebay which haven't gone for that much less.

I saw the U.S. 45 on Big Tree priced at £100 on the latest Anglo American. Any ideas on price for the UK issue on UK Atlantic? Superb track a long time favourite of mine.

Sitting In The Park - Billy Stewart Or Georgie Fame
slimharpo replied to Pete S's topic in All About the SOUL
I like Georgie's vocals but hate the flute intrusions. Get the U.S. release for a stonking version of Last Night on the flip. As for Moody Blues/Bessie Banks, in my opinion the MB's version is a perfect example of all that was bad about UK cover versions. These covers were usually produced by someone who had absolutely no feel for soul music and often seemed to have the Northern Dance Orchestra providing the backing, usually with too much strident brass and echo. Bessie Banks might have been rough and ready but was so soulful, probably done in one take, whereas the MB's and their producer made sure they eliminated any 'feel and spontaneity' for the song, probably taking 300+ takes - Bland ruled in UK covers - in my opinion! -
Oldest Photographic Evidence Of Being A Uk Soul Fan?
slimharpo replied to slimharpo's topic in All About the SOUL
Thanks for all the interest and comments. No. my mate was no politician! i lived in a small village outside Wrexham and hardly ever got to hear anything 'soulful'. I can honestly say I never bought a 45 by a UK artist. I mainly relied on buying blind from recommendations and 'odd' non UK sounding names e.g.Solomon Burke, Isley Brothers etc, Disc magazine where Jack Good had a column written from the states and Record Mirror who had Norman Joplin in particular writing for them and it was well into R&B and the 'new' sound, soul. By the time this pic was taken, I had bought James Brown, Solomkon Burke, Bobby Parker, The Isleys, The Miracles, Contours & Marvin Gaye on Oriole. Ther Miracles were voted best female group that year in RM! And unbelievably now as I look back I had sent for 2 albums from the States (I'd sent for a list from and Ad in RM), John Lee Hooker and something else from Crown records in L.A. (I was disappointed as they were very early stuff), how I got the dollars and knew how to send it I'll never know and can't remember! Gradually I got to know other guys who were interested in Soul and the Twisted Wheel eventually emerged where a lot of guys from Wrexham went to. All the best, Slim -
This is me (the little one) and a mate perusing my Ray Charles albums sometime in'63. Note my 'Dynatron' record player in the background. Anyone got older 'soul' photos or even anything up to '66 ish?
