Just a short note to say we thoroughly enjoyed the event and the DJ sets later. Didn't get to here everyone but the one's we did hear, Sam, Dave and Carl/Maria, couldn't be faulted. Great music.

Sorry but got to say that I love the vocal (+ it's one of my favs). To each his/her own. Just to add that I generally prefer the vocal (when there is one available) to any instrumental.

Always got time for Clive. remember in the 70's when he, and other southern writers, were very critical of 'northern' soul; just because we liked non soul records didn't mean we couldn't differentiate between 'northern' dance and soul. With the pasage of time it was recognised that if it was 'soulful' then there wasn't a problem. Shout have had some excellent CD's and the radio show is also excellent (although is does cover a wide spectrum so not always soul). Clive has great taste and I've ordered the book; looking forward to reading it.

There will never be a younger crowd attracted to our music. Like it or not it's for an older generation although there will always be a small minority interested in it (nothing like the 'minority' of the 70's though).
Stunned. We'll miss you both. Hope 2 best mates find many mountains to climb. Thoughts go out to Gill, family, friends and Macc Lads.
Big un and little un.
It's rare for me to make a post but on this occasion I had to. I'm watching 'ask the lonely' on utube and it reminds me when as a young teenager in 1970 I couldn't decide whether I wanted to listen to rock (as most of my mates did) or soul. Levi and the tops made that decision for me. imo the best voice I have ever heard or will hear.
As another post says he stirred my passions for a life of soul music.
RIP.

Hi
Can anyone help/answer my question? I'm new to the site so I hope I'm asking this question in the correct forum (don't suppose it matters).
The reissue of Jerry Williams 'If you ask me' has a 1973 print on it + the label address is wrong (17 W 60th St). However I've seen 2 scans of 'original ' copies with 2 different addresses. One has 'Calla Records 1631 Broadway'. The other just has 'Calla' (no records) and looks like '1650 Broadway'. Otherwise they look identical.
Are they both originals? Are there other copies with different addresses? Are they the same value? Lastly can anyone advise what is the going rate for an original. Thanks, Paul
