good job i'm here then yes pete, i know exactly what this is What the usb cable does from the deck is effectively put another sound card on the pc. Now windows does not like 2 sound cards - in fact you cannot get 2 sound cards to work toigether without specialist software When you unplug the USB it disconnects the second sound card so windows then defaults back to the main sound card and all is ok. There is something you can do tho (or at least try) If you are only going to be using the input for recording from the deck and nothing else (ie you dont use a mic headset on a regular basis) then do this go to start>control panel>sounds and audio click the audio tab for sound playback choose your pc soundcard for recording choose usb turntable or whatever it comes up with click ok and try it - thi9s should solve the problem, but note that everytime you disconnect the turntable you will have to go through all this shit again.

anyway, quality of turntable wont make any difference with that prince buster rammel you play on it
-
lol dont know why you are doing the ner ner - you're the one who bought it lol. anyway, distance selling regulations say you can cancel it or send it back within 14 days if you dont like it

first time ive seen this thread - trotters eh, i remember them, thats about the time i started getting back into the northern scene after a long break. Used to like that place too. PS, i can remember a curly from notts palais - but the one i remember was a black guy not the one in Ian's flyer? Only reason i remember him was he was always skint and borrowed a fiver off me at the palais in 1981 - never did get it back and with inflation i guess it's now about £20 He was always dancing around your area Steve Phyllis on the left hand side of the floor. - wasnt his name curly? very tall guy.

all it is is a very cheap turntable with a phono preamp built in. you wouldnt believe how much these cost numark to make -- $7.99 each you'd be better off with an old turntable and this https://www.lifeismusic.co.uk/PA/BEHRINGER-...A202--2445.aspx or better still an sl1200 and a proper mixer. You'll spend hundreds on one piece of vinyl and use crappy turntables to play em lol ps, use ortofon carts too - stantons just sit in the top of the groove, ortofons get deep into the groove and avoid much of the surface noise. Hope this helps.

Talc On Dancefloor - Serious Situation
Glyn Williams replied to Wiganer1's topic in All About the SOUL
yes, my opinion for what it's worth is that this person is no friend of yours. at worst you get sued, at best venue stops you having any more soul events. No friend if you ask me, just a greedy bleeder looking for a free ride. -

Talc On Dancefloor - Serious Situation
Glyn Williams replied to Wiganer1's topic in All About the SOUL
makes you wonder if they could sue the person that dropped the talc? this is bluff and bluster anyway - it's pure bo***cks if this were true then you could sue a nightclub for having a wet toilet floor, for the bar not being spotless etc. not yet in this country. I agree though - ignore it - it is not your liability. - these companies try to sue anything that moves in the hope that it will be an insurance claim paid out and will not get to court. - If you get a summons then that is the time to do something about a defence. if you dont and just get shitty letters from lawyers or venue's just ignore em On a lighter note and a true story - did you hear about the bloke that successfully sued black and decker for around half a million? he used a hand drill switched on to pick his nose - it caught and the guy lost his nose. their attack was that black and decker did not put in the instructions that you should not insert the drill bit into any body orifaces. strange but true he won his case the moral of the story is that you cannot prepare for every eventuality and nutter no matter what you do so if you are a promoter get PL insurance just for the peace of mind - £100 a year is small potatoes at the side of what you'll pay if a speaker drops on someone. -

Talc On Dancefloor - Serious Situation
Glyn Williams replied to Wiganer1's topic in All About the SOUL
you lot shoud be aware though that although the venue's PL insurance will cover you for anything caused by their facilities - ie the dancefloor or toilets for example but will not stretch to your sound equipment. Every mobile disco knows this and has to have PL insurance to about 3 million these days and covers you for speakers falling on heads, cable trips etc - basically anything to do with your part of facility provision. # If you are a promoter and have your own equipment you do need public liability to cover yourself - cost is around £120 a year. -

It has 3 rooms Room one is a technical marvel - as it changes its size dependent on the number of people in. One night it's the size of an upstairs pub room and then the next night it's blackpool ballroom. It plays good old 60's and early 70's northern all night but somehow manages to actually plkay many of the thousands of oldies that are left gathering dust. The room has a sound sentry that when it detects the first note of 'cause you're mine' kicks the DJ up the bum and makes them use some imagination. This room is mostly in the full size due to the crowd room 2 is for the modern Room - it consists of 3 million UV light tubes and one man hitting a large cardboard box with a padded mallet 120 times a minute - they won't know the difference anyway so no sound system needed. Needless to say those in the modern room are banned from telling the main room they are there by making flyers that say 'northern soul' on them. The rules are they must say 'townie disco room now open' room 3 is for the elitist. In this room you will get thrown out if you even so much as think of playing something that someone else knows. there is a hook at the side of the stage and one boo from the crowd removes the dj and places him back in his padded cell along with a copy of The Moonbillows 'cry your arms off' and a paper cone with a needle stuck through it. Perfect venue

Hi Pete, Why dont you just do instant payments from the website? AND if they ask you if youve got something just say "yes" but all records are first come first served - call me with your credit card now to guarantee it" Punters generally pay immediately if they want it -
bit cabaret tho innit pete
