  2. that tee shirt was soooo cool Mandy lol unfortunately they dont do it in fat balding git size so I can't have one
  3. As A DJ myself gotta say I like requests. although not if you are the pillock from Alfreton soul night who asked 'Got any elvis'
  4. no i dont approve of bootlegs. but i don't approve of the thought police either or the mary whityehouses who go around reporting people just cos they have nothing better to do. never bought a bootleg then? even when you started collecting? and simsy, come on - at £2 a copy minus ebay fees and clearly stating that it's his own compilation I dont think thats really fleecing people do you? lol Fleecing is when people produce bootlegs and then sell them described as 're-issues'
  5. yes, erm sure, like nothing better to do?
  6. got an mp3 of it dazz?
  7. must admit Pete i made a small fortune from northern cd's years ago but the arse soon fell out of the market when cd writers came sub £100
  8. oh, and also, a DJ knows how to set a sound system up so you CAN hear what they are saying
  9. anyone can play records - you can train a monkey to do it, get a computer to do it. A human being adds sparkle and life to an evening if done correctly Also a professional show presenter knows how to flow music and how to control an audience - when to play what and more importantly when NOT to play it. when you can get away with new introductions and when you can't - all part of the job and cannot be taught - has to be experience. Whats the point of playing your biggest floor filler when people are just arriving and warming up? etc - things like that - Oh and also not repeating records - some of the overplayed records are bad enough without hearing them 3 times in one session. if a dj can't be arsed to get at a venue early enough to hear whats been played then it's a poor show if you ask me so no excuses. being fresh every time, not being able to set you watch by what they are playing - these are all the traits of a DJ and NOT just a walking jukebox I'm sure this will inflame some and it's just my opinion - from a DJ who talks and has done for 30 years
  10. ahh sandy - we had him do the judging for our dance championships at alfreton 8 years ago! wonder if he's still as supple
  11. Hi pete, you can complain to paypal and they can investigate - chances are though that you wont get anything back cos you gotta prove it. But have to be honest - these lots are all 'taking a chance' lots - you got 400 discs for less than £300. Now if there had been a couple of £500 records in there you wouldnt have been complaining would ya? in fact you'd think you would have stitched HIM up. Ive done this before4 - bought 100 old motown tracks for £40 inc postage - i know this aint £280 but they arrived and most were shite. However, got to say it's amazing what you can do with fairy liquid I ended up with a couple of david ruffin tracks and a couple of oldies like junior walker - about £30 worth i reckon so i lost out - rest were binned. Always a risk pete - many many lot sales are like that. you took a chance and lost.

Master Plan - Dance all night 6.Executive Suite - When the fuel runs out 7. Oscar Perry - Main string 8. Harold Melvin - Prayin' 9. Brown Sugar - The Game Is Over 10. Gayle Adams - Baby i need your lovin thanks for all of those who had a go

  17. Soul night facts: 1. you can't get an atmosphere going without dancers. 2. generally, unless really desperate people dont dance to what they don't know. 3. There are plenty of great songs that aren't overplayed that people know and love. I like an atmosphere - I play for the dancers.
  18. Hi, Just to let those of you know who tried to sign up to our mailing list lately on www.soultimepromotions.com it appears there was a problem and if you did sign up then in reality you probarbly didnt. anyway, to cut a long story short ive sorted it now and if you want to join the list just go to the website and fill in the form. dont worry if you are already on the list, it wont accept duplicates anyway. we wont spam you, just news on gigs and any site changes like mp3's etc. Thanks.
