  1. Gareth, Manships 3rd guide has the Jimmy "Bo" Horn track as Dade 235. The scan of the label in Million Dollas of Rare Soul looks like it might be 235, but my poor vision doesn't help The 5000 series appear to be 5000 Ted Taylor - "Darling if you must leave/I lost the best thing I ever had" 5001 Jimmy Paris - "Esmerelda/Lost love" 5002 Sonny Til - "Someone up and told me/Open up your heart" 5003 Nat Hendrick and the Swans - "Wobble,wobble/Pt.2" 5004 Nat Hendrick and the Swans - "(Do the) mashed potato/Pt.2" 5005 Kitty Love - "The power of love/You gotta change" 5006 Yvonne Fair - "Straighten up/Say yeah yeah" THANKS Jaco, again very useful. BAZ A
  2. I'd be surprised if JBH got a release on 2035. His name is spelled Jimmie "Bo" Horn on the label on 2025. Other notable 45s on the label would have to include those earlier than the 2000 series: Helene Smith "Demonstrate Your Love" Dade 1853; Clarence Reid "Push A Little Harder" Dade 1855; The Twans "I Can't See Him Again" Dade 1903; Yvonne Fair "Say Yeah Yeah" Dade 5006. The numbering system of the earlier 45s is a bit scattergun as there were basically two labels: those which were distributed locally by Henry Stone himself (some starting at 5000, though not all) and those picked up for national/regional distribution by Atlantic/Atco (the Twans and Yvonne Fair 45s have additional numbers apart from the Dade serial nos. which fit into Atlantic series run-downs and do not appear to have been issued locally). A fun label to collect: I don't have anything like a complete set, but there are some great records among it all. Particular favourites are the Arnold Albury records, the Lynn Williams singles and the various Latimore 45s. I would very much like to buy Benny Latimore "Ordinary Man" on Dade (as opposed to Atlantic) if anyone has one for sale. thanks Gareth very helpful BAZ A

  8. LOL. I'm sure you and Tim could spend countless evenings waxing lyrical about the merits of Freddie North Baz! Me? I'd far rather watch him struggling to get his TV working via the Sky telephone helpline which involved him using the phone in a seperate room and then frantically dashing from one room to another with each seperate instruction from the lady at Sky......Hilarious! There was a point when he tried to enlist me in the process by telling him what was on the screen whilst he was on the phone in the other room and at that exact point what looked to be a green Gekko popped up on the screen, so I yelled out "There's a Gekko Tim"! He thought I was taking the piss and came in to look for himself and then pointed out that it was in fact a Chamaeleo Calyptratus which should give you some indication of where his head's at................ How can you win............? Ian D priceless !!!
  9. "Love To Hate" by Freddie North (the Abet version rather than the Mankind one) is an absolutely fantastic soul record and will have it's day! f--k me love to hate is awesome if he has thoushands of these then perhaps to improve his PR Ian he should post one to each member of soul source who has give him a rough ride lol. 13. Nah baz,he's never had the pleasure of participating in the wonderful world of martial arts ! i tried getting him training on many occasions... maybe on his zoo trips he secretly practices with the shaolin monks in those highly skilled ,tiger, snake, mantis and other animal forms..... he's my pal and a twat at times but all this stuff is pretty much tongue in cheek in manifesto especially with sam whom he has respect for.. mind you he has pops at me at times infact i've been at his house when he's been writing stuff, if i actually thought it was serious i'd have pulled his fingernails out a long time ago.. knowledge and collection phew pretty damned impressive ! Hello mate well put and yes to the collection and knowledge bit ofcourse -i reckon that seventies mullet would of looked good in a gi however,i know hes your mate andy- hes a proper character thats for sure-done well by him records wise over the years also, pleased he has respect for sam,we all take for granted the grand old man who imho is a phenomenom all in his own with massive enthusiasm !!! 16. Tims first love is visiting zoos, ive read manifesto -and yes mistakes lol,but if he had his mind on some obscure animal in a zoo then perhaps his judgement was elswhere,i do agree that stuff like this gets out of context, shit i made the mistake of saying i wasnt gonna read gingers book and recieved 111 emails from the manchester area threatening my life !!! I would now like to confirm that i have read the book-it aint half bad but i really dont think tom cruise will be playing him in the near future. Soul Sam will always be one of my heros of the rare soul scene -so please can you mail me after 10 tonight as i need the gym and need to eat!!! afterwards. BAZ A

I'm sure there will be soundfiles on here of the different takes between the two label variations and between the takes on the versions of 27320, as it's been discussed before. Try here: https://www.soul-sour..._1entry963491 There is another link in that thread about the different takes I think. 21. funny really theres that much out there at the momment that people have lost the point ie just good soul music -its punters that tag records and conviently put them into genres etc!! I done the wilton last week in the duration of my 1 hour spot i was asked for "old northern soul"newies,oldies-fast ones and seventies with a bit r/b lol,and this is a upfront do that is well respected lol. The point is that tastes do vary and the punter loves to tag, well all quilty of creating all this bollocks!!! A GOOD RECORD IS A GOOD RECORD -but the wide spectrum of individuals tastes means that someone may love say the trannels -whilst others may think its over played, its sixties, etc etc,the bollocks just intensifies. The various dos offer the lot -pay your money and take your choice-simple as that really!!! BAZ A
