  4. Steve Wrights afternoon show on radio 2 has a slot titled Factoids, they tell us little bits of info about celebs or nature etc, all good fun and often interesting, so I though ok what little bits of info (factoids) do we have on anything soul related?????? for instance I know a top Soul Dj whos dad drove the Bealtles around for a couple of years in the 60ts, won't mention his name because i haven't asked permission to say who it is. Just a bit of fun for crimbo

  7. A GREAT WAY TO WELCOME IN ANOTHER YEAR...PILSLEY SOUL WITH MR JOHN POOLE
  8. Does anybody know which was the first SOUL allnighter. I know people mention The Wheel but my elder brother was going to the Dungeon in Nott'm somewhere around 66-67, later the Dungeon became the Beachcomber. Was there others earlier than the Wheel and Dungeon?????????
  9. You know, i finished work on Fridays got ready and went down to the Brit, (Nott,m)where after much scrounging managed to get a lift to Wigan, sometimes did it by train others by hitchhiking. Sat went to Nottingham, to selectadisc and Image (clothes shop) then the Forest for the game. Straight after went of to Wigan and spent the night, dancing, occasionally pill popping, and having a great time. thought I was doing it because I enjoyed it but has with all this media crap says I was doing it because I was socially deprived and trying to escape the tedium of life. Does it ever accur to these sad people that we did it because we wanted to and if we wanted to escape we could have gone to Australia with all the others.

  12. From where did you assume that the proper soulies thread was a swipe at a neighbouring DJ /Promoter or is that just your own supposition??

  15. I think this has run its course anyway, nothing more to say Cheers Mike
  16. Hi Dendog, sorry mate but the thread doesn't ask a question about 'whats on the flyer' , secondly it didn't question the group offering the flyer or the promoters intentions. Maybe you missed the point, I don't care who promotes what, where, why or when or what language they use on their flyers, my question was and still is 'whats a proper soulie'. Whatever folks make of that is up to them but it will not change the reason I posted the thread and it is quite clear as you read through the thread that the debate has moved on from my original post
  17. Just as a matter of interest it was I (mr Bridget) who posted this thread, my intention was to provoke thought on 'Proper Soulies' as can be seen from my post. I have neither pointed the finger at music policies, clothes that people wear, or inffered any other thing with regard to promoters or which club does what or for what reason, I simply asked the question. It isn't a statement nor is it a question on the 1-1 basis. It is a question up for discussion hence the term question. if others derive different things or add different things to the debate that follows that is up to them, that is what debate is all about and debate stems from questions asked. it seems that a lot of people have something to say on the matter, therefore my question was valid. I would appreciate it if personal details, (names etc) were not included in the debate because it only serves to personalise it, which was not the intention unless of course it is on a freindly basis.
  18. Point out Dennis with all respect where it became one on one. I thought you may have known who Spinner is because you have taken an interest in wanting to know why his account was closed. There are some who are gullible and some who are not. I don't think the tone of the last post was 'nice'. Just trying to provoke comment. Lets not take things so personally a? Its not life and death this its just a night out!!
  19. Why oh why has this turned into a 'them and us' debate Dennis. You have singled yourself out and have pointed the finger at us for no reason as the original post was a general comment to get a debate going which it certainly has without any personalising intended. You and Spinner (who we now know as he has sent us an e mail telling us he will return onto this site in another guise) have sought to bring the topic down to personalities which was not the intention. If we lived in a world where only 'nice things were said' then what a sorry place it would be. You see in the real world some say nice things to peoples faces whilst slagging them off behind their backs very often. At least this can be a forum where we can voice our opinion despite it being an alternative opinion to others. The word 'debate' is about airing varying viewpoints because then the scene (and the world) can be a more coulourful place if we aren't all just 'yes' men to each others faces. We are all different and have different points of view.. Thank God for that!!
  20. Kenny Carter, Lost And Found, Blue Rock
  21. There speaks the voice of the innocent!
  22. Once again Spinner, whoever you are, you have shown up to be a little short on constructive comment shall we say? Baz you reading this? what do you reckon??
  23. hear hear,
  24. thats it then, I'm off to get my baggies, glove and fully badged up bag and well placed towel, anybody know anybody who sells them or can i get one from ebay? I (mr Brigdet) posted this tongue in cheek but sean I owe you big time, i can now sleep easy knowing that when I hit the soul clubs next week I'll be in the groove and everybody will say, there goes a true soulie. Lets end it here folks.
