  1. I`d agree with that..My experience is of a soul night that had 150+ attendees on a regular basis, numbers dropped to about 20-25 and the promoter still couldn`t lower himself to pass the time of day or even smile at those he obviously thought was beneath him but who were, in fact, still supporting his gig. Perhaps thats why numbers dropped in the first place...Just a thought..!
  2. I'm definately with you on this Bazza.
  3. Is this Bobby Brown aka ex Mr Whitney Houston? Sounds alright if played in the proper place!!

  5. Saw you from a bit of a distance...Wouldn`t have looked too good running through the shopping mall like somebody from "Brief encounter"!...Talking of which...What have you got in your box??
  6. Remember going to an all dayer there, must have been between Aug 74 and May 75, with my mate, Janet. I reckon we got a bus there from Maid Marian way bus station in Nottm after an all nighter (vague facts not getting any better with age!) By the way MAK, did you buy owt interesting at McArthur Glen? (No I`m not stalking you!!) Sharon
  7. Know them both. Heard LJB`s version on `SOTS` Think they are both boring!
  8. Me: 73 - 78 Chris: Circa 71-78 Probably to do with me being 15 in 73 and Chris being 18 in 71 The perspective of youth from middle aged `uns like us gives a completely different viewpoint of `Halcyon days` though!! S
  9. Now then, Now then! He was out of HIS head. If he'd been spotted in a THONG we would have all needed something he was on!! Aahh ! Happy Days!

  18. I would agree..My owd fella's got a copy (not for sale though! sorry!) and he's kept plugging it around these parts and slowly more and more are getting up and dancing to it (Its got quite an unusual dance beat I reckon but I still love it )
  19. Sorry if my comments have already been said elsewhere..Haven't got time to read through the whole thread..Anyway..I just think that its nothing more than a town council jumping onto any old band wagon as is done in loads and loads of places throughout the world. My own home city of Nottingham lives off the Robin Hood legend and to a lesser degree the glory days of Forest. We went to Missouri a couple of years ago and much is made of the jazz heritage in Kansas city (About 70 miles from where we were staying) with museums and the like. We spent an evening in a jazz museum/themed bar with current live jazz acts which was ace and very well done. I suppose the only thing about the Wigan coffee shop that it will eventually prove to be a bit naff and perhaps run down as a lot of these type of places have a tendancy to be (In keeping with the original place I suppose! and I did go before I get clobbered )
  20. Totally agree. Posted this up on my blog a while ago as I echo your sentiments exactly
