  1. It's appeared on Discogs with images of both sides https://www.discogs.com/release/22634906-Ethics-Lost-In-A-Lonely-World-Now-Is-The-Time
  2. Don't ask Colin as he hated his "I am a teapot stage"
  3. I have "bucked" up and contacted Lenny and he did confirm that it is not him, I won't give up though
  4. I have been racking my brains for some time over this and I remembered someone suggesting that it may have been Lenny Curtis (Jimmy Mac Harrison) who was in Detroit before he moved to New York and was also known to some as Jimmy Mack, but it never came up in any interviews, I think.
  5. It was initially suggested that they were one in the same singer, but since, opinions vary now.
  6. I always teased Dave about being a "Top" DJ, at least he laughed at me, he never did get it printed on a T-shirt. Gloria's version pips it for me.
  7. Just found out The management/production team of Phil and Marion Colbert (a.k.a. Phi-mar Productions). Phil was Capitol Records but seemingly disappeared
  8. Or Henry needs to sell them elsewhere and get better money ?
  9. I had a US copy of Taj Mahal, but not seen a UK release (I love the "Gimme Some lovin'" intro steal)
  10. Jack Ashford reported earlier the sad passing of Joe Messina. "Joe Messina, one of the star guitarists on the front line of Motown’s studio band, the Funk Brothers, died early Monday at his son Joel Messina’s Northville home, his son confirmed. He died of natural causes at 93. Along with the other Funk Brothers, Messina won two Grammys in 2003 for the soundtrack to the documentary “Standing in the Shadows of Motown.” A year later, the Recording Academy gave him and the Funks a Lifetime Achievement Award." Dubbed the "white brother with soul", In 1958, Motown Records founder Berry Gordy recruited Messina for his Hitsville U.S.A. studio musicians group. In the 1960s and early 1970s, they recorded the instrumentals for hundreds of Motown hit records. During this time, Messina worked with performers such as Diana Ross & the Supremes, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, Stevie Wonder, and Smokey Robinson & the Miracles. Among Messina's most notable performances are his turns on hits such as "Dancing in the Street" (Martha & the Vandellas, 1964), "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)" (Four Tops, 1965), and "Your Precious Love" (Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell, 1967). https://eu.detroitnews.com/story/entertainment/people/2022/04/04/joe-messina-motown-guitarist-and-member-funk-brothers-has-died-age-93/7271120001/
  11. 100% OK to play and needs playing more
  12. I see this thread was added, but the "expert" in New York poo pooed Soul Source, said he knew best and it's real They are getting mixed up and messing it up and letting people get fooled (again) if what has been said on here is correct.
  13. I have seen the same copy as mine on a well known site run by a father and son in Leicestershire and you indicated mine was a bootleg (one said re-issue,whatever), please help my confusion "Original 2nd Legal Issue From 1969 Matrix Has JC In Run Out Plus Correct Time 2:35 On Label NOT 2:01 Like 1974 Unofficial Press, Top 10 Northern Oldie & Brill B Side Also A played Sound Now" https://www.rarenorthernsoul.com/i-still-love-you-we-re-so-lonely

  15. Looked and I think someone manages his FB page for him, so no joy. Used to have his mobile about 20 years ago but no longer, I'll ask Kev to ask him
  16. WOW Rob is on facebook, which is a remarkable thing and has stunned me, perhaps someone can ask him, if he does have the fabled article, it may be in a carrier bag somewhere https://www.facebook.com/robsrecordsnottingham/
  17. I always wanted to know who did them, thanks for that
  18. Wow, how dare you suggest that, I have know John since I was a teenager and he would never do that. in fact I have been a supporter of his amazing videos on You Tube of how to spot fakes and have spread the word to others. Karl, if you are going to continue trying to distort what I say then do as you will, it's just silly
  19. Let me get this straight Karl and based on your comments. John put it up for auction, even though he did not trust the disc 100%. How odd is that? Why did he not ask the same facebook page that outed it's authenticity or even his own, so he could get the responses and advice that have happened. I am fully entitled to my opinion as you are yours and I will always make MY point as others will theirs. You state "I always seem to think the worst and continually stir the pot and that someone is up to no good" which is a lie and you have no authority to say this whatsoever, so please be careful with your personal comments. Let me throw a couple of positive things in for you. Buyers will be checking, more carefully perhaps, if the purchases they make are credible The record may create yet more advertising for John, he will be happy with that.
  20. For some, the emotions maybe there, I think it goes deeper, when we are talking about a record market that has now pushed itself into the realms of price madness and dealers like John are commanding such high prices, to the bewilderment of some and the satisfaction of the sellers bank managers. Soul detectives have spent years trying to uncover the bootleggers works since Jeff King was first jailed for his efforts and Simon Soussan ruled the counterfeit market in boxes at Northern Soul venues and lists galore and to see the "famous Dj's" and suppliers booting tunes and a dealer or dealers getting it wrong is sad and really disappointing. As far as the red herring, John clearly must now the supply source then (if knows) and out them to protect his reputation.
  21. You see how old I am, I read this and had completely forgotten, cheers buddy
  22. Looks like the Triangle Records place was bulldozed down and replaced, this new house was built in 2009
  23. Nabay Restum AKA Nicki Robbins (stage name) was Lebanese and was raised in the South end of Dearborn, Michigan Nabay also sang with the The Royaltones in some of the local clubs. Ali Bushamie started off as a saxophone player that played with the Counts. The Counts was one of the early groups that Bob Babbit played Upright Bass in. The group consisted of Ali Bushamie (sax) Gene Malido (sax) Norman Sands (drums) and Nabay(Nabay Restum)vocals.
