  8. I've got loads of Beach stuff, Simon. The UK scene has been playing their stuff since the early 80's. Such 45's as the Fantastic Shakers massive 'Northern' track "Biggest Mistake" and Debby Dobbins "Glad I Found You" were big 'made for the market' Beach tunes. More recently General Johnson's Surfside hit "Bless Your Heart" also found Northern acclaim. Embers "Watch out Girl" is a Beach indemander along with pretty much everything by Willie Tee and the Tams (Don't you recall "There Aint Nothing Like Shagging" being a UK hit a few years ago?). Theres a HUGE number of CD compilations with tracks suited to both scenes (some issued by Kev Roberts - and pretty good too!). Examples (there are loads up on eBay)... Beach Music Classics, Vol.1 1. There's Gonna Be a Showdown - Archie Bell & The Drells 2. Nip Sip - The Clovers 3. You're the Boss - LaVern Baker/Jimmy Ricks4. Thank You John - Willie Tee 5. Too Weak to Fight - Clarence Carter 6. Think a Little Sugar - Barbara Lewis 7. Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart - The Coasters 8. One Way Love - The Drifters 9. Across the Street - Lenny O'Henry 10. Shame, Shame - Magic Lanterns Beach Music Classics, Vol.1 1. Do You Believe in Love at First Sight - Dionne Warwick 2. Young Hearts Run Free - Candi Staton 3. Love Land - Charles Wright & The Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band/The Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band 4. You Don't Need a Gypsy - Robert John 5. Magic in the Moonlight - The Spinners 6. I've Got Sand in My Shoes - The Drifters 7. Lucky Lips - Ruth Brown 8. Morning, Noon and Night - Joe Turner 9. Drinkin' Wine, Spo-Dee-O-Dee - Stick McGhee 10. Walking up a One Way Street - Willie Tee. Don't know about you but I'd be happy to hear most from that little lot on a night out! Sean
  9. Or trying to save a Burning Piano!
  10. These days you'd be more likely to die by walking past some flats and the kid lands on your head! Sean
  11. Sounds Great Ken. More Power to 'em! Have a great one Buddy! Sean
  12. That's very rare footage of me and Tats at the Youth Club! Sean
  13. Well............ seeing as you're asking! I'd happily give it a go! Sean
  14. Nope - he drank Hemlock and was poisoned. A Greek tragedy! Or was that Socrates? Aeschylus was killed by a Tortoise. Sean
  15. Think its clear its South African David. Just making Mr Rounce work for his reputation! Sean
  16. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I think you've bought a load of Oz Pressings from a dodgy South African mate. mmmmmmmmm Then again.... Antipodes 'technically' includes South Africa.......... so I'm still right on the second shout! Do you have the same pressing as this one then Tony? Sean
  17. Just checked - It's the same coupling as Brunswick BR 18 (Sweetest Feeling / Higher & Higher) which was released in the UK in May 1975 and was in the charts for 8 weeks reaching number 25. Follows to me that this was issued on the strength of the UK 'success'. And I'm definately thinking Antipodean! Sean
  18. mmmmmmmmmmm I'm going by the Intersong Pty Ltd detail That's the Publishing for Intersong in Australia. iNTERSONG PTY. LTD., 225 CLARENCE STREET, SYDNEY What indicates its South African, Tony? Certainly looks to me its a mid 70's Aussie (or perhaps NZ - as Ken suggests) press of two classic sides. Do the Bohannon / Al Green etc SA 45's say 'Intersong PTY Ltd' on the label? Sean
  19. Don't think it will be a Boot. Came out twice... on Canyon 1000 and Maple 1000. Was an old Bradford spin of mine. The guy I bought it off was raving about the "Taking All The Love I Can" side. Turned it over and found this moody, atmospheric, group beauty on the flip. Smashing tune! Sean
  20. I have the same 45 Andy. It's a legitimate Test Pressing. I also have a full LP on Acetate from this session, which remains unreleased. Sean
  21. That's no excuse for being out of touch, Roger. Do try and keep up. Sean
  22. Link to Lyfe Jennings "Cry" for anyone who might wonder who I'm on about... Sean
  23. Three mate, 1. Lyfe 268-192 in 2004 2. Phoenix - in 2006 3. Lyfe Change - in 2008 Plus the special editions. Agree, a lot of his stuff is a bit 'iffy'. All the trademark 'Hey Yo Yo' does my head in... but he does have a remarkable voice and for the handful of tracks where he delivers, vocally, its some of the best 'Raw Soul' stuff I've heard from this century. Sean
