  1. I bought mine. blind. from a Rock & Roll dealer in the late 70's. I remember his comments something like "This is actually a Soul record... but why it wasn't a Number One Hit astonishes me - Storming track with Great vocals. Best record on the list!" So glad I took his word for it. Especially as the 'B' side 'I Made It Over' is an 'every bit as good' triffic deepie! Sean
  2. Agreed - shows what influence Mickey Stevenson had on the 'Motown' sound. Incredible tune! Sean
  3. Impressions - Can't Satisfy De Vons - Someone To Treat Me etc. To be honest... Peterboro Old Mod Bloke does have a point! Sean
  4. How many Glen Ricketts do you think there are Dave?
  5. What is its title and who is the artist? Sean
  6. Don't think you'll be shifting em with that for a Sales pitch! Sean
  7. I'll have to dig it out mate. Always liked it, must admit! So... was it as good as the tubby man said, down there?
  8. You surprise me Bull. Never thought this was a hard one. I bought mine circa 81 for $5. Nobody ever asks me about it. Not even Kev Johnson.......!!!
  9. Played for a few years on CBS and Reissued on the back of the plays, before Wigan. Sean
  10. Would have been 73 when it was Reissued on Santa Ponsa (originally 66 on CBS) Webby... ... and a MONSTER at the time... Sean
  11. Tams - Hey Girl Don't Bother Me Freda Payne - Band Of Gold Sean
  12. The late 60's / early 70's UK Polydor releases were (mostly) pressed without centres. This included the Stax (2025 series) and Atlantic (2091 series) - Polydor licensed stuff. Is that what you are referring to? Sean
  13. Ah! my Brewster Crew's a Stone Minter... ...as are my Marvin Smith.... We The People and Sunday too... ...but my Montclairs has a fag burn in it! Sean
  14. Carstairs. Seen a few lately, look like some Blokes been hitting 'em with a Sledge Hammer. Sean
  15. I have both of these on JA labels and agree, both look and sound great! Think the Stag copy is far harder than the Doctor Bird (in my experience)... but they do tend to be priced around the same at the mo! Good luck Mark... meanwhile I'll be sure to play it for you, if you ask me nicely, at the Blah Bar! Sean
  16. That might well be true. I just happened to get into 60's Soul in the 60's and in the 70's found I liked 70's stuff too... and so on. There's no doubt that the 60's - early/mid 70's was the Golden Age... but I don't like to miss out on any of it, which is why I spend my time listening to music from all eras... and picking the best from the five decades. I dunno... some folk just can't seem to keep up! Sean
  17. Dorothy Moore. Catnap worked! Sean
  18. I've got a Female version of this Nev, Can't recall who by at the mo.... wil maybe need to sleep on it! Sean
  19. Of course... ...but the Northern scene probably wont discover it until around 2020. Sean
  20. It might help you to find the Band Of Angels 45 if you look for Piccadilly, not Pye, mate. Sean
  21. I wondered how long it'd take you Roger Got to be one of the funnier posts from Webby, I must admit. He really is a card! Truth is, most 'Northern' fans are totally oblivious to New Soul... and quite happy to remain so, despite hankering for the days when the old and the new were all played in the one room! Nowt as queer as folk! Two scenes... and then some, I reckon! Sean
