  1. Vee-Jay were distributed by Fontana in the UK at the time "Getting Mighty Crowded" was a hit in the US & UK (65). In 66 Vee-Jay folded and (as it was a big UK hit) in 1968 President reissued GMC with "It's In His Kiss" on the flip. Johnny Wyatt was a Bronco release and was licensed to Fontana in Holland, but that and other Bronco releases of the time (Viola Wills etc) were released through President in the UK. Sean
  2. Yes mate, same outfit, as were the JOY label (remember those great 'Keep the Faith' LP's!). Think the same pressing plant were used for the Soul Sounds Bootlegs too! Sean
  3. It's Thomas, Mark... not Richard. Sean
  4. Hi there, The artist is "Little Rose Little" on Roulette 4747 Should make it easier to find! Sean
  5. Hi Adam, That would be good, if you could mate, cos I think we're all under the impression it only got as far as DEMO copies. Previous thread here. /forums/topic/115722-jimmy-scott-on-westbound-5025/page__p__1189876__hl__westbound__fromsearch__1entry1189876 Cheers, Sean
  6. Interesting career, Chris Marke Jackson. He lived in the UK for a while, during the Soul City (label & shop) years and recorded a coupe of things for Dave Godin's ill fated 444 label (you may have seen the recent Manship auction for an unreleased acetate) but after a bust up with one of the Soul City guys he was shown the door. Having been affected by his 'Northern Soul Scene' success, he returned to the US and went on to have a massive writing hit for the Tymes... with "You Little Trustmaker". Sean
  7. Hi there, I remember the Gt Yarmouth Inter City soul club gig at Tiffanys. Remember it like it was yesterday. Must have been around 73 or 74 ? It was the first venue to have a 'Deep Soul' room... where I spent much of my time. Also remember buying a stack of great 45's from Jon Harvey (Kojak). Thanks for the memory! Sean
  8. You're right Dave, truly Fantastic! Where Soul Music comes from, innit! I'd be there every Sunday if Betty was on the Pulpit! Sean
  9. mmmm quite nice that Nev, Thanks. Sean
  10. Only that its the flipside of "Drinkin' Wine Spo-Dee-ODee"... apparently, Nev. What's it like? Sean

  14. You're spot on matey! Tis' another GREAT O'Jays tune! One Awesome Group, Eddie and the boys... always kept it Soulful, despite the changes in Style & Production, over the decades. Just Love 'em! Sean
  15. An even better O'Jays Modern Soul proposition is this baby! Always does it for me down at at Soul Essence. Sean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqAJ5NzFzZc
  16. That sounds awesome Swish. Its as if you were destined to be reunited with that box, at this time! Superb stuff. Looking forward to the book mate. Sean
  17. Ahem... and Rotherham / Mexborough crew Tony. Many a happy weekend at Scarborough! Salisbury was a blast. Even remember DJ'ing a session at Four Seasons / Rudies way back then (mid 70's). Bet I've got some wicked piccys somewhere (lots of moustaches and wide trousers!) Sean
  18. On sale from the person who started the thread, Joan. Sean
  19. "That's The Story of My Life" A Fabulous record (IMO). Sean
  20. Eureka! I Found it! The bad news is - it's STEREO / MONO - no "Out Of The Storm" side. The good news is, "Anna" is a beaut ballad! Matrix tells us it was scheduled to be the 'B' side. M-5025-AS-1b Was this definitely issued Ady? Sean
  21. Quality One blonde to another... Have you ever read Shakespeare? No. Who wrote it? Coat... got... stage left!
  22. Agree "I Can't Lie To My Heart" is the killer side. You might like to see this recent video - Betty Fikes - in Selma, Alabama. Betty recorded a new album, only two months ago. I'll see you in church! Sean
  23. Hi Adam, 'Backbone' is on the flip of "What Goes Around" not on the flip of 'Anna'. Agree "What Am I Going to Do" is a real goodie. Rate it very highly and put it on the CD Swap a while back. Ady, I'm still laid up... but gonna try and shuffle through the record room once Julie and the kids have gone to bed. I honestly don't know what's on the flip of Anna. Its gonna be a long night cos I aint gonna rest until I find it! Sean
  24. Orig = Light Blue. Pressings = Red. Sean
  25. I have the Test Pressing, Ady. Sean
