Agree with all. This is simply one of the greatest records ever! I play it out, pretty much every chance I get. Only a few months ago, me and Tats and a certain MrLevine totally silenced a crowded West London Curry House as we spontaneously broke into our own, loud, rendition of this masterpiece at its mere mention! Beverley Glen went out of business decades ago, after trials and tribulations - and much litigation over Royalties. Wound up with Bobby Womack getting physical with Otis Smith, in court, if I recall correctly The album rights ended up with Motown in the cae of Womack (hence the appearance over here of Poet 1 & 2 on UK Motown and the "So Many Sides" "Tell Me Why" etc 45's) and Elektra in the cae of Anita Baker. The "Just Aint Good Enough" Johnnie Taylor album eventually appeared on CD with Capitol and came out on the UK Stateside label. I would be surprised if there were ever any contemporary represses of that material (12" or 45) under the Beverly Glen logo, but clearly, as is often the case, there were several pressings done around the same time. Has been a MASSIVE record in Soul clubs throughout the UK since first released. Overplayed, if anything. Its a fabulous album and along with the 12" and 7" its been around for over 25 years. Sean

Yes - that's correct. The Contours version of "It's Growing" is album only. Bobby Taylor & The Vancouvers did a nice version on Gordy 45 though. Sean

First Greek Frankie B I saw was someone had a copy at Clifton Hall (1979 ish) in the Record Bar. Might have been Swish.... or Tony Coleby.... or Paul Temple.... or somebody? Never had one - and wouldn't say no if offered! Sean

Yep - Its a lovely version of a fabulous song. I've played it out lots over the years, from the MFP LP. Curiously it did not appear on either the US or the UK press of the "Great Expectations" LP. Love it! Sean

These 'are' real EMI Recording Co Acetates. EMI = EMIDISC. I've attached a genuine and very rare and expensive Beatles EMI Acetate. See the text? and the AB signature? It's the same. Think some folk are confusing the extensive use of Emidisc laquers in the 70's to pirate 'Northern soul' records with these items, which by all accounts are authentic EMI /UK TMG acetates. I'd pay £30 each for them any day of the week. Sean

Every chance that they are legit in every way. Both were released in the UK in March 65 and both are sequential TMG numbers in the UK Tamla Motown catalogue which was licensed by EMI (as in EMI-DISCS). Both of these tracks will have been cut on EMIS as a matter of course. TMG 506 is "All For You" TMG 507 is "Ask The Lonely" I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for TMG 508 (Brenda Holloway - "When I'm Gone") :-) The AB marked in Biro is A. B. Lincoln who was cutting Emidiscs at EMI in March 1965 and that signature and title text is exactly how he marked them If they are fakes, they are very, very, good IMO. Sean
