  1. Lovely album! "Please Stay Home" is a particular favourite. Sean
  2. Not the same song, but Simon was very good at borrowing Northern titles (Queen Of Fools, Panic etc.) for his DISCO 'creations'. I've got the LP. Not my most treasured item though, by a long way. Sean
  3. Interesting that Pete. I covered it up as Billy Stewart... nearly 30 years ago! Great track! Sean
  4. Yeh - I know that Sebastian. That's why I asked has anyone heard the 'Funk' side of his VRC 45, "You're Welcome To Try". The other (Ballad) side (When Will I Stop Lovin You) can be heard here. https://www.sirshambling.com/artists/L/little_willie_jones.html Nice! Sean
  5. Anyone heard the 'Funk' side of his VRC 45 "You're Welcome To Try"? Sean
  6. Found this the one on eBay from a couple of months ago. Interesting label. Pretty obscure New Jersey thing! Sean
  7. That's right. Brother To Brother was massive over here too Bob, at the time. Sean
  8. I've got Bill Brandon "Rainbow Road" "Something Wonderful" on Sparton yellow (thanks Dave Flynn ) Sean
  9. "My baby is my generator that turns my motor on.... and keeps me running smooth" ... just might have been the lyric that killed it! Sean
  10. Thanks Mark, Will dig out my copy and report back. Cheers, Sean
  11. Are both of your copies Golden Sound Mark? Any RCA references on the label? Think I'm gonna have to dig mine out and have a look. 99% sure its RCA but Its been a few years since I played it anywhere. Sean
  12. Ah! Think that makes sense Blake. Reckon my RCA copy is European, but not sure where from. Defo RCA though - not Golden Sound. Cheers matey. Hope you're both well! Sean
  13. "Golden Sound" - Where is that from? I've had this 45 for years - Am pretty sure its on RCA. Sean
  14. You're right Jock. Extremely poignant. What we missed out on eh! What struck me about the clip is how much respect Carlton (who I'm a bit of a fan of) paid to Freddie (the old Master) and that the performance seemed so natural and impromptu. Total Quality. Hope you're well matey. Sean
  15. Sadly no longer with us Jock. Passed away a couple of years ago. :-( Sean
  16. Ah! Sorry Mark, I thought we were talking about 'versions' of the song in which case it seemed quite right to omit the original from the list. Sean

  18. I think your assessment is spot on Roger. The Blank label is the only fixed aspect. Title, Artist and other credits were largely open to interpretation. Just so long as the correct information is displayed, the 'label owner' would leave the rest to the Printer / Compositer. I used to work for a Printer many years ago - long before Apple Macs took over. Typesetting was an art in itself - and nobody would ever second guess a typesetter as to how the type would or should appear. The rate at which releases were coming off the press would mean that they simply wouldn't have the time to get into the minutiae of 'one line or two' especially as there's no particular 'right or wrong'. It would be just about getting the job done! Always makes me smile when I observe how much importance the Soul 45 collector puts on such matters. I just think, they've obviously never worked in a busy printers! Sean
  19. Jeez Stevie, that was absolutely incredible. Chills. Just magic mate. What an awesome talent. Fabulous voice. Effortless brilliance! Love him. Thanks a bunch. Really, really great clip. Sean
  20. Thanks Baz, I posted the link on the earlier Joe Simon thread (I Got A Whole Lot Of Loving) but here it is again. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Soul-Dancefloor-Joe-Simon/dp/B002S1VQIO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1259965848&sr=8-1 Every home should have one matey! Cheers and thanks again. Sean
  21. Always loved "I'm Coming Home" by these guys. Top Tune! Sean
  22. LP only, I'm afraid. Album came out in the UK on Move in the mid 80's. Just the one single, on October, "I'm Afraid To Let You Into My Life" b/w "I'm Gonna Walk" did infact make it from the LP. If you get to pick up the album, a further track "Your Love" is a real bonus. A triffic uptempo dancer. Sean
