  1. There you go! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fourever-Four-Tops/dp/B00005O6NA Sean
  2. What a coincidence! I was only playing this last night! Its on the 'FOUREVER' 4x CD box set, released in 2001. Loads of great tracks on there. Sean
  3. Come off it fellas, that's never been a Soul record. Sounds like a cross between Barry Manilow and Gilbert O'Sullivan. Wouldn't give you ten bob for it never mind 500 squid. Ian, I think you've been down South far too long. And you too Martin. On the premise that anywhere South of Bolsover, makes you a Shandy drinker too! Sean
  4. Still is Malc, Bloody awful racket to my ears! Hope you and your are well mate. Sean
  5. Always loved it, Ian. Was regarded as a classic round my neck of the woods, but agree, it was drowned at birth on the scene as a whole. Grabbed the 'Eddie Parker' - Aliza 'issue' - as soon as it arrived in 'Sound of Music' Rotherham but was late 70's / early 80's before I picked up the Mutt & Jeff copy. Great little tune! Sean
  6. Was discussed on here a couple of years ago. Its a Beach cover of the 80's Pop hit by Jim Hurt. Sean
  7. Hi Mark, The guy helped turn an 'Underground Soul scene' into a 'Pop phenomenon' and many Soul Music fans find that hard to appreciate. Like getting the fox to look after the chickens, he was never a 'Soul Music' lover, by his own admission. No great sin in that in itself, but the detrimental affect that had on the 'Soul' scene in the North took years to recover. Fortunately, some of those who were attracted to the scene, ironically because of the 'publicity' generated at Wigan, stayed around long enough to experience and enjoy some real Soul Music. Sean
  8. Ah! Gotcha. Thanks for that. Sean
  9. The Brief Encounter looks a real bargain. Seen it go for lots more recently. Very broad appeal these days. Beautifully presented Sales list too mate. Sean
  10. Hi Steve, Yep - I thought you had another version, couldn't remember artist though. The UK version I have is almost note-for-note of the Willis Wooten. Similar scenario to the Larry Santos / Jon Ford releases. i.e. Nice, but not spectacular! Hope you're well mate. Sean
  11. I have a pretty good version of this track by Rory McDonald... on UK Philips would you believe? Sean
  12. Neither. Not a particular rarity, just quite nice to have. Certainly quite a bit harder to come by than the US copy. Sean
  13. Love the Dogg to bits! Hey Ken, "Shipwrecked" / "Sock It To Yourself" was the first 45 I ever owned by the man, a few years before the wonderful "If You Ask Me". Worn the grooves of it as a lad. His other Cotillion 45 "It's Still Good" / "Come And Get It" is another worthwhile track. Quick mention for... C & The Shells "On My Way Home" US Cotillion / UK Red Atlantic - Midtempo Magic and a teriffic ender I've used for some years. The Doris Duke "I'm A Loser" entire album is one of the true greats. Check out "The Feeling Is Right" for a superb crossover dancer (also on Canyon 45)... but everyone needs the album! Theres another superb Calla 45 in "Just What Do You Plan To Do About It" - not heard that played out for decades. The Roker 45 "I Was Born Blue" is a take on the Whispers "Seems Like I Gotta Do Wrong" and 'quite interesting' if nothing else. Let's not forget the brilliant "I Got What It Takes" by Brooks O'Dell & Jerry. An essential 45 in all good record collections. Remember waiting for the new release of the "Have You Heard This Story" LP (back in 74?) with eager anticipation and wasn't disappointed. Favourite track being "Did I Come Back To Soon" which I also bought at the time on a UK Island 45. A tragic tale superbly told. Humour, Irony & Soul! "In My Resume" the Cream track is also a pure Dogg delight! Also, just remembered early 70's spin "Total Destruction To Your Mind" ... and we've only scratched the surface! Some guy Jerry Williams. Nice thread John. Sean
  14. Yep - Its the same record. I also have both versions. Prefer Barry Smith (it's a bit 'harder' sounding) but they're both pretty good. Seem to remember back in the 70's the Barry Smith had a UK release number on PEOPLE but it never saw the light of day, unless anyone knows different? Sean
  15. See Post 80, Sweep, old love! Sure that's where I saw him last. Sean
  16. Yeh - they should have known it was you, Kev, without having to ask! Some people. Sean
  17. Breathtaking that Mike. Daryl is the Man. (and Paperboy aint too shabby either). Thanks a bunch for putting it up. Loving it! Sean
  18. If its Anthony Bongiovi we're taliking about- New Jersey Record Producer - he produced Gloria Gaynor "Never Can Say Goodbye" also for Millie Jackson, Last Poets etc. His profile on Wikipedia says he got started in 65! Sean
  19. A Very Beautiful Record! Sean

Thanks again, one and all, best wishes for a Soulful 2010... and Happy Hunting. Sean
