R.b.hudmon On Tomahawk
Ah! Thanks for the link. Not bad. Much prefer the Atlantic mix (but maybe that's cos I've been playing it for the past 35 years). Far more subtle, less frantic and much higher quality in every department. JR says the Tomahawk was probably only a Demo, so it figures. I seem to remember this copy being on eBay 4-5 years ago, but don't recall what it went for. Think it's pretty scarce though. Sean

R.b.hudmon On Tomahawk
Dunno, but I play it out often on UK Atlantic (which cost me about 50p when new). Is it the same mix as the UK ATL 45 do you know? The LP version is certainly different. Sean

Della Humphrey - Was It Booted?
Lots of very old, unplayed, like new 45's out there Jacob. Sean

Della Humphrey - Was It Booted?
Doubt it very much. Can't imagine it would ever have been booted. Sean

Linda Jones - My Heart Needs A Break
Never Sebastian. Amazes me what turns up, after all these years! Lovely stuff! Sean

5 Stairsteps & Cubie - Love's Happening - Curtom - Album
Great LP. Features my old Bradford spin "I'm the One Who Loves You" - triffic version of the impressions tune. Came out in the UK under a different title "Stay Close To Me" on Buddah. Sean

Bobby Thurston -Dead Or Alive ?
Any idea how long ago Eddie? Sean

Bobby Thurston -Dead Or Alive ?
If he did pass away I don't recall hearing about it, Rob. I've racked my brains and I can't remember hearing anything of his demise. Born in 1954, he'd only be 56 (if he's still around) but he was one hell of a big guy (Billy Stewart proportions) so who knows, maybe another 'early' one. Sean

Willie Tee's Rarest On Ebay Last Week
Relax you guys. I realise you were having a subtle, but joking, 'pop' Nev. But, like Mike, I don't think some folk have grasped the concept yet. A bad record is a bad record, regardless of the price - likewise a good record is a good record, regardless of the price. The likes of me and Mike are really only interested in the music itself... and will comment on the merits of the tune regardless. I can honestly say I've never been turned on... or turned off by the market 'value' of a tune. It truly is what comes out of the speakers that counts. And all the rest is propaganda Sean

Willie Tee's Rarest On Ebay Last Week
You're right Nev, he has done far better than this, but an average Willie Tee record is still better than most out there... and for years I've collected everything I can by the man... ...and I'm still looking! Sean

Bobby Womack
Thanks for the tip! Just caught the back end of "If You Don't want My Love" Still the Man. Fabulous! Sean

Allnighter Issues
Has worked in the past, Chalky. Early 80's, Steve Croft, Chris King (/Terry Sampson) and Dave Thorley, all individual promoters at the time, had an alliance whereby they agreed to not clash nighter dates etc. I think it went under the heading of '3 Voices' or similar. I vaguely remember going with Steve to Stafford to a meet, back in the days of Cleethorpes, Bradford, Warrington, Top Of The World etc. It certainly worked for a while and allowed all these venues to flourish, as I recall. Stunned! Been a major want for years! Hope a dealer got it! Sean

Floresent Smog
Nah Nev, The discussion has kept the thread top pile for a couple of days, so that's gotta be good for any wants post! Sean

Floresent Smog
Had some superb records from Gary over the years, Ivor. Both off the Blacknight list and from visits to his warehouse, up a backstreet in Neepsend, Sheffield. Always remember dozens of copies of the Gifted Four, sat in a puddle, propping one of the internal doors open Had known him from being a youngsta. Great taste in music and a really first class fella. Sean PS: I've got 'that' record for you. Pm me your address and I'll get it in the post.

Floresent Smog
Strange situation, isn't it, that fewer copies leads to over-exposure. But, if that's the case mate, I hope someone turns up a mountain of 'em! Sean

To each his own Gareth, but I've played the Horn since I was 8 years old and there's nothing 'accomplished' or even 'adequate' about it - to my ears! Must admit, the lead guy's a better vocalist than me though. But only just Sean

Floresent Smog
Sorry chaps, but personal taste is by definition 'personal'. Its not bollocks to not like something. That's nonsense. It might enjoyable or refreshing to you fuzzj, but I've been hearing it played out for 20+ years... and would much prefer never to hear it again, thank you! Sean

Rare Breed - The Magic In You - Mgm
Think you might be referring to the American Breed, Rob, and probably their version of "Bend Me Shape Me" on UK Dot. Sean

Bill Brandon - Space Age Lover
I don't have a sound file, Simon, but its the first track on this old Clifton Hall tape if you want a listen. /more/soul-events-live/clifton-hall-rotherham-march-26th-1982-part-2 Cheers, Sean

No Simon, it almost certainly did not. Sean

I Believe In Miracles
Yes Dave. Let's have No Jazz, No Funk, No Junk... ...and I won't have to drink myself into a coma anymore! Sean
-
I Believe In Miracles
Surprised that you're surprised Cliff. I don't like crap vocals. And there's too many good vocal records out there to waste my time (or dosh) on instrumentals. If I'm honest... I no longer believe in Miracles. Especially since hearing this... and the Mark bloody Cappani version Sean

First 30 seconds Dave. Sean

I Believe In Miracles
Sorry guys, the only way that would sound any good to me is if the room full of dancers were bikini clad nubiles... in custard. Which I very much doubt we'd find anywhere near Mansfield. I'm with Rob. It's an assault on the ears. Music for deaf people. Adding it now to my list of 'pet hate' records. Sean
