  1. Heyyyyyyyyy.... don'y mind a bit! Keep 'em coming Baz! Sean
  2. Think that's a very good point Marc. I'm actually amazed at how many new and 'previously unmentioned' tips have come through this year. Bit surprised though that we've not had many LP tracks suggested. There must be loads that folk are sitting on, especially now the scene has largely got over that '45 only' handicap. Thinking caps on folks! Let's have em! Sean
  3. .........Another bloody eagle eye! Well the thing is Godz, it was played much earlier in the session... I thought we'd get away with giving it a second spin later in the evening! Nice work lads. Shows you're paying attention! Sean
  4. Yep - which show's you're paying attention young Nev . I can see you now, copying them all into your little black book... alphabetically. Sorted mate! Sean
  5. Here you go folks. Nearly at 100 and some incredible contributions thus far! A bit of a Ballacher tidying that lot up, but what a triffic 'Wants List' Thanks a bunch all and don't be shy, just keep 'em coming! 6. All good stuff folks, Keep 'em coming and I'll do a round up of where we are up to some time tomorrow. Many thanks for your contributions, thus far. Sean
  7. Hi Baz and Happy New Year mate! There's no need to post sound clips. Just let us know what you've got that you think deserves a really big plug in the coming year! I'm sure they'll be quality choices. All the best. Sean
  8. That's the spirit Mike. This thread is about personal Top Tips. Nobody knows 'em all and all contributions are gratefully received. Let's have 'em! Sean
  9. Hi all, Well, its that time of year again Exactly 12 months since we did the last 'Top Tips' thread... so, as it's now a Soul Source tradition, here we go again! Here's your opportunity to tip the tunes in your box for future greatness, during the forthcoming year... or simply list any number of records that you'd like to recommend to other Soul Sourcers. You might be a DJ with that tasty unplayed, unknown, hardly played or semi-known 45 stuck in the back of your box that you'd love to play out... but haven't quite got around to it... yet! You might be a collector, sitting on a tune that you know, if it got into the right hands, could become massive in the next 12 months. It could be an LP track that, for whatever reason, has never been given the recognition it deserves. It might be a tasty 'B' side that, given the right exposure, might just have what it takes to become a monster! We're talking, Northern, Modern, Crossover or 'Just Soul' Whatever floats your boat! No need to post sound clips. Just let us know what you've got that you think deserves a really big plug in the coming year! So come on. Look at your box and let's have your top tip (or tips) for 2011. Oh... and a Happy (and Soulful) New Year to all! Sean Hampsey

  11. Think it's a Memphis 45 from memory. Sean
  12. I've got this. Quite obscure. No idea of value though. Sean
  13. Don't have time to stroke anything these days mate! But if I did, that's what I'd be stroking . It's certainly been an embarrassment of riches this past 12 months Steve. Huge credit and hats off to all those 'Diggers' who keep on finding the real deal, year after year. Happy Christmas ya'll! Sean
  14. Yes... And a few dozen times in my car too, at your request Brett! :0) Sean
  15. No Ady, you're not losing it. Defo a cross between Willie Walker and Chuck Jackson's "I Dont Wanna Cry". :0) Sean
  16. Great call Brett! I think I told you about the day, almost 12 months ago, when I nearly fell out of the shower as these two tracks rattled through the speakers! Since then both sides have become staple tunes up at Just Soul and both typify what three things the scene is really all about these days... ...Quality, Quality & Quality! So, it may seem as if its been a long time coming, but end Jan 2011 is when the 45 hits the streets. Get ready for what is certainly one of the very best releases in a very long time and demand is bound to be huge. On the 'Quality' front, I played the Test Pressing up at York last weekend and (strangely) it sounded even better than the CD (which should please the OVO Boys immensely)! Hats off to the Ace boys, Ady, Tony and Dean for continuuing to deliver the goods. Fabulous Real Soul Music that deserves all our full support. Cheers, Sean
  17. Great stuff Mike! I think they sit very nicely alongside each other! And, like you, there's very few recent releases I could say that about Sean
  18. Harrison Calloway, Mike Haynes, Steve Patrick, Harvey Thompson, Kent Bruce, Clayton Ivey, Reggie Young, James Robertson, Tommy Couch Jr, David Hood, Jimmy Johnson, Wolf Stephenson, George Jackson, Frederick Night, on the Players and Producers side... ...with classic songs by Sam Dees, Frederick Knight, Willie Clayton, Frank Johnson, Paul Kelly, Clayton Ivey, Terry Woodford, George Jackson... ...it's proper Mike. But if you're not completely satisfied I'll gladly take it off your hands. The Mrs wants her own copy . Sean
  19. So good to hear, Ian. You've made my day to hear that sales are going well on these. What that really means to me is that more and more people are discovering the delights of Southern Soul - the real deal! And 'Shinehead' and Arkwright (Dave) the 'essential' type comments are much appreciated. When I was a kid, the two 'essential' albums were 'Motown Chartbuster Volume 3' and 'This Is Soul' from Stax / Atlantic. When compiling 'Love & Jealousy' and 'I Get My Groove' that's kind of what I had in mind. 50 Great tracks that every Soul fan should own. I realise the game has changed, its a different market and a different time, but with your 'Special Price' approach, I'm chuffed to nuts to think that these could be heading anywhere towards that direction. Now we've got even more to go at (with the Brunswick and Malaco catalogues available to us ) I think the next bunch are going to be even closer to the mark. Be assured, they are coming on very nicely, Ian. Working with this breadth of a catalogue is an absolute pleasure. And the best is yet to come! Compliments of the season to you too sir. Sean

  22. Think its the most significant LP since Dorothy Moore's 'Misty Blue' in terms of its ability to break genuine Southern Soul into the mainstream! We live in hope . Sean
  23. Reckon we should set up home together! Sean
