  1. Probably mate. Good job we don't do it for the money! Sean
  2. Another Grrrrrrrrrrrrreat release from Shotgun! With a particularly awesome flipside too! Just keep Shootin' 'em up Paul. Sean
  3. Not as funny as you might think Brian. I sold mine for £5 after I'd hammered it a few times, circa 81/82. Still, I probably bought another half dozen new things with the fiver! Sean
  4. When they stopped using musicians... Sean
  5. It's a 72 LP track that was pressed on a 45 for the first time around 20 years ago (from memory). Don't believe its been pressed again since (to my knowledge). Played it on and off many times over the years. Seems to be getting talked about a lot these days though. Nice little tune. Sean
  6. Great stuff Dave. Another crackin' release from Soul Junction! Keep em comin' :0) Sean
  7. HaHa! Very droll Mr B. As you well know... the YouTube was the 'put on' and the Radio banter is the real deal. Although, if you read the comments on YouTube there are some who didn't get the joke.... and think that myself and Tats really are from Barnsley Hope you're well old friend. Would be great to see you (and the lovely Mrs B) on the 5th. Sean
  8. Thanks Paul. Didn't know you were planning to put out the Rhetta Hughes. That's great news. Quite a few options for a great flipside on that particular LP too. Neither myself, Tats or Kev Briscoe knew the Dramatics track until a couple of years ago, so you were well ahead of us there mate. It came on the radio in the car, whilst driving from Muscle Shoals Sound to Sheffield Ala (as I said on the radio, yesterday) and we were all blown away. Needless to say, I've bought every copy I could lay my hands on ever since. Cheap as chips - but pure Black Gold! Makes a great Birthday prezzie for Family & Friends . Glad you all enjoyed hearing it. Have had great feedback from far and wide on that particular track. It's so good that music of that calibre can reach both a new (and old) audience. Soul radio - it's the future! Sean
  9. Sad news Paul. Always loved the Versepto 45 'Part Time Love' and his rare and fabulous Mercury 45 'You Don't Have To Suffer Anymore'. What an amazing Soul singer. RIP Sean
  10. Thanks a bunch for all the kind comments. Gotta say, it was another 'experience' to say the least. If anyone missed it, here's a link to the full show to either stream or download, courtesy of Zane Hunter (Thanks Zane)/ https://www.zshare.net/audio/862209926198df54/ We're back again June 5th 2011, so let's make that a date. Meanwhile, we look forward to seeing you up at Just Soul March 5th 2011. Hope you can make it. Thanks again. Sean
  11. Life's too short. Sean
  12. A Band Of Angels - Invitation Lovin' Spoonful - Do You Believe In Magic Charlie Rich - Love Is After Me Flamin Ember - Westbound No 9 Shades Of Blue - Oh How Happy Loved em all, as a lad! Sean
  13. Yep, his comment was proberbly funnier than the video Dave! The irony totally lost on him. :0) Sean
  14. All GREAT releases Paul, with Sandra Wright the cherry on the top! Wishing you every success with all of 'em. Essential purchases! Sean
  15. Ah!... you mean this Dave? A few more where this came from. Thinking of posting them up as a mini series! Sean

We're looking forward to sharing a couple of hours of 'Just Soul' music with you! Sean
  17. You DJ'd this one as well, Darren. Just found it in the flyer gallery on here. Remember it well. You and me and Paul Cakebread used to travel up there together. Good times. This must have been around 82/83, Alison. O' course, £2.00 admission, was a months wages back then! At that time, it was normally 'Northern' upstairs and 'Modern' downstairs. I DJ'd both rooms at the time (versatile or what! ). Bradford came after Steve's success at Rotherham Clifton Hall & Cleethorpes and before Warrington (as I recall). It was all getting a bit frantic, we were all over the place, like dog shit, which is when I decided to call it a day with allnighters . Ha!........ Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in! Sean
  18. Agreed John. I bought it mid 70's when new, but only to get my hands on 'I Was Checking Out' on a 45 (almost wore the grooves of the mutha). 'Bad Mouthing' was a US Disco track, and although I'm sure it would have had spins in the 'hip' London clubs at the time, back in 1973 it was anything but the kind of sound that was going down up north / on the 'Northern' scene. O'course... some o' them Northern boys always were a bit slow catchin' on! Sean
  19. Mmmm is the UK copy mono or Stereo? I'll need to check. I'm guessing Stereo, since I bought it mid 70's. Sean
  20. Thanks Steve. You might like to take a listen at this 45, by Grover Mitchell, I used to play around the same time. Its not a group sound, but I always associate the two. I was crazy about it as a new release... (just incredible lyrics)... and at a time when such a sound wasn't the type of thing to get decent exposure, I even had a T Shirt printed with Black Bold letters...'What Hurts' 'Grover Mitchell' on the front. People thought I was nuts. They may have been right. But its still a great record. Enjoy! Sean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoS2ztPrb9s
  21. Great stuff Mick. Excellent informative Website mate... and on the ball as ever! Sean
  22. It aint the postin' Tony, its the makin' I know how fussy you are! You're on my list Brotherman. You're on my list! Sean
  23. Don't know if anyone else has flagged this info on here, but there are bunch of new 45's scheduled any time now from Hit & Run. These include : TOMMY & THE DERBY'S - HR 1505 Don't Play The Role / Handy Andy One of the best 'finds' of the last few years - a real quality Northern dancer from everybody's favourite Tommy Tate. Recorded in Jackson Mississippi 1966 featuring Dorothy Moore on backing vocals, this is one being heard across the country at discerning dance venues. Very strong boogaloo dancer flip completes what is a great 45. Originally played by Butch covered up as 'Little Jerry Williams', only a handful of copies of the ultra-rare original Swing release are known. MARJORIE INGRAM - HR 1506 Another Woman Involved / Love Vibrations Recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound in 1977, we have here a coupling of strong George Jackson songs and productions. Great vocals from this Memphis belle on 2 very nice dancefloor winners. Both sides previously unreleased - and now available on vinyl 45 for the very first time. Buy : online NOW at : www.garryjcape.com/hitandrun.htm - sound clips are available for all 4 tracks. And while you're on the site, pleeeease take a listen at the upcoming Ernie Shelby and Erma Shaw 45's - Just STUNNING Real Soul Music! www.garryjcape.com/hitandrun.htm Well done Garry / Hit & Run. All great stuff! Sean
