  1. Well done Ace / Kent, Dean, Tony and all involved.

This is a superb and long awaited compilation from one of Soul Music's finest voices, recorded during her richest period.

Apart from all those marvellous numbers that we all know and love, the unreleased tracks are simply STUNNING and up there with her very best recordings.

Obviously the now indemand 'One More Hurt' is included - a crossover dancer of mammoth proportions which has been doing serious damage on dancefloors up and down the country for the past 12 months and is surely poised to go on to legendary status - but I'm slayed by the quality and soulfulness of the entire collection, in particular 'Loving The Easy Way' which is just about as deep and moody as Southern Soul music gets.

This is one essential purchase folks and if you consider yourself a lover or a fan of Real Soul Music you MUST get the Complete Fame Records Masters.

    Breathtakingly magnificent.

  2. Thanks Sean,

As you know, it wasn't easy to decide which track should be the official A side, I like them both equally.

It's also likely that the album will be issued on CD this year, not necessarily on Shotgun, maybe licensed out to another label.

    Best wishes,

Received the 45 at the weekend. Thank you Paul.

Got to say folks, it sounds incredible. The Mastering is Top Notch 45 quality!

Will be great being able to play it out LOUD in future (as opposed to off the album).

Worth mentioning, the big bonus for the Northern Scene is the equally fabulous flipside 'Giving Up My Heartaches'.

This side is a real sleeping Giant for any Northern DJ and a favourite tip of my 'Just Soul' buddy Tats Taylor (a guy with the ears to spot a really good tune, believe me).

This is another superb and well thought out release from Shotgun.

Crossover Monster on the Topside - Sleeping Giant Fingersnapping Northern on the Flip!

    Brilliant job mate.

    Oughta sell by the shedload.

  4. Yes, Sean, toiling away at the tape coalface for hours on end, the slog only broken by frequent trips to the Garden Gate Cafe - I really don't know how we withstand it all.....

...and we're such gluttons for punishement that Dean, Alec and I will be Memphis and Muscle Shoals bound again next weekend for a further 10 days of repairing tape splices and getting covered in shedding oxide.

Honestly, the things we do for you, lot, I dunno!!!!!!:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Yep - I can think of a lot worse ways to make a living.

Did I ever tell you about my old job... with Jayne Mansfield and the lobsters?

    :D

Oh, and when you're next there, please pass on the Rotherham lads fondest regards to Suzanne Bolton.

The sweetest lady in the whole of Alabama!

  5. too right Kev, after all this is to southern soul what Shrine is to the northern sceneyes.gif

I'm assured there's a huge bunch of stuff yet to see the light of day, Mark, from the likes of George Soule, Bettye Swann, Candi Staton, Spencer Wiggins, Marcell Strong, Roscoe Robinson etc.

The Candi Staton "One More Hurt" is an outstanding dancer (I'll be playing at Rugby next weekend, if you can't make Just Soul) but the deep stuff is also mouthwatering, by all accounts!

Spare a thought for poor Mr Rounce, who has had to endure the past nine months, wading through all those dusty old tapes!

Don't envy him for a minute, poor guy!

    Sean
