  1. Nice one Rick. That all confirms precisely what I said in post 22. Another bit of 'untold history' on the C M Jackson saga, the guys at Soul City had an almighty fallout with him resulting in him threatening Dave G. with violence (imagine!) resulting in Rob Blackmore giving him a wupping... in the hallowed grounds of the Soul City shop. In a rage, Jackson checked into a West End Hotel, running up a huge bill over a couple of weeks. On checkout, and before his return to the US, he told the Hotel to charge his lavish stay to Soul City - his Record label. The effect was devastating... and the rest (including the release of SC120) is confined to history. Sean
  2. I had (may even still have) a copy of this misprint years ago. From memory it plays for 'Tell It Like It Is' half way through and then switches to 'the flipside 'Why Worry' with the line 'Go out and have a good time!'. Is yours the same Tony & Crumb? Sean
  3. If I ever find another copy, Andy, its yours! Sean
  4. It's an unissued Rudy Love LP that was recorded by Canyon / Wally Roker. 'Where Have You Been' is a cover of the Whispers track. 80's release, UK only. Sean
  5. They've got 'Bestsellers' written all over 'em Ian. So that's Christmas sorted! Sean
  6. Thanks Andy. Its certainly a good read for free Did you get a Rory McD yet? Sean
  7. I have a US demo also. So how many is that? I also have it on at least 8 or 9 other foreign labels 45's, the most interesting being the NZ copy which has it as being by Candi STATION. Sean
  8. Thanks Russ, great stuff mate. I lost this stuff in the flood (2007) so they're great for me. Downloading them now! Cheers and thanks again, Sean
  9. Wow! Thanks for that Russ. Don't think I've seen one of those since we did the gig. I remember doing the artwork and 'dancers' illustration. Did you go? Think we had over 1600 in on each night. Bloody great nights at a legendary venue. Sean
  10. I ran the Harlem Shuffle do's with Malc Burton. The first ones we did at Clifton Hall, the third one wad at the Bailey Suite at a time I was 'otherwise engaged' and Snowy stepped in to help Malc. The Herringthorpe gigs I did with Kev Briscoe and John Benson. They were the 'Old Farts Serious Sixties Soul Sessions'. We did them every November for about 15 years. Good times. Sean
  11. I have two copies. Still quite rare though! :0) Play quite a few things of it from time to time, notably Eddie Holland 'living without your love' which is tremendous! Sean
  12. The Bob Kuban looks like a NZ issue to me pete. My Aus Stateside copy is Black & Silver. Must dig out some of my unusual foreign jobs, when I get a mo. Great thread folks Sean
  13. Much of Dave's assets were misappropriated. His Last Will & Testament stated clearly that what he owned was to be sold to raise money for Hillside Animal Sanctuary in Norwich. The story has yet to be told. Sean
  14. LP track and Demo 45 only Steve. Great little record. My fave version of the song in fact. Took me a while to get the 45. Sean
  15. Quite possibly Kev. Quite possibly. Sean
  16. Can't have been a very old Record Nev, when it was in almost every Soul Pack I bought from Rotherham Market, 10 for a quid. Had at least a dozen copies. Course, we were all wanting 'Try A Little Harder' at the time, so I probably didnt get more than 10pence each for them at the time. Sean
  17. Jackie Wilson What A Lovely Way Melvin Davis I'm Worried Na Allen All with you via Mail Big File Ian. Cheers, Sean
  18. I have both and would have said the Wooton version was the original, Andy. Sean
  19. We were only talking about his Samar side a few days ago Chalks when you posted it on FB you'll recall. A fabulous record well due a revival. RIP Jimmy Norman Sean
  20. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hz6bxMTE4Xs One of the best LIVE performers I've ever seen. Remember him coming on stage once to this OV Wright tribute. Incredible. Sean
  21. Another Winner from this GIANT of a Soul Singer. Sean
  22. On the Deeper side, one from my own channel, featuring 'authentic' Memphis & Muscle Shoals tour footage :0) Sean
  23. Have played this beauty out for many years. Hi Studios PERFECTION! Sean
  24. One of the last few remaining Real Soul artists still performing. But then he's always been one of the greats, even when competition was much more fierce. Sean
  25. Had this record for nearly 40 years, and since the mid 70's always thought it sounded like the Hutch himself on the 'boys' side Kev. Either that or he did the DEMO and got the lead singer to copy the style to a tee! Sean
