  1. Thanks Chalky.

And thanks everyone for all your comments.

Like many of you, I too bought 'Caught Up' back in '74 - and it was a life changing acquisition.

Soul fans owe Millie Jackson (and those behind the album and its sequel) a real debt of gratitude.

Showcasing her finest, most Soulful, ballads for the 'Moods' project was no easy task, but it has certainly been a privilege.

Hot off the press, the first package dropped through the mailbox this morning and it truly is a thing of great beauty - and that's even before it slides into the deck!

Ace / Kent have done a magnificent job with the graphics, editing and overall appearance of the package, doing great justice to the incredible music within.

Birthday presents solved, for everyone I buy for, for the forseeable future.

It's out, in store and online, from this coming Monday - 25th March 2012.

I hope you will enjoy it.

    Cheers and thanks again.

  2. No Black baloons on Syls Cd...

    Hi Graham,

Despite the typo in the 'compiled by' info above 'it was me wot did it'.

I compiled the CD, along with the Bobby Patterson, from (what I believe are) 25 of the best of Syl's Hi Output.

"Black Balloons" is from Twinight and therefore (as good as it is) was not available to us on this compilation.

Just make sure its in your Christmas stocking mate. You'll love it! :D

    Have a great one!

  3. Its the BIGGEST thing to have happened in Lincolnshire EVER!

The guy has a stunning repertoire of his own HAPPY / I FORGOT TO BE YOUR LOVER / YOU GOT THE LOVE I NEED / MAN IN THE STREET / NEVER LIKE THIS BEFORE / IT'S HAPPENING ALL OVER / SOMEBODY'S GONNA GET HURT / ANY OTHER WAY etc... and having been owner of the owner of the legendary PEACHTREE record label, the possibilities beyond his own vocal cuts are mouth watering... producer of 'SEVEN DAY LOVER' and Eddie Billups 'ASK MY HEART' etc.

Good Lord! This could be truly INCREDIBLE!

    Awesome job Ady.

Best news I've heard since SPENCER!

  4. +6 - Hey you got to use the equipment fully Sean for maximum impact

I've been dropping them down -6 the past few years Steve.

Even 'You Satisfy My Needs' is considered a 'stomper' at Just Soul, LOL.

  5. And what's happened to T99 Mr H? Not the side they keep putting out on CD's but the dancer side "We got everything"?

    Mr G,

With no title suggested it couldn't be considered a proper Top Tip.

Also, if it requires +6 before it becomes a 'dancer' then I'm not sure that would be 'proper' either.

However, since you've now provided the title, I'll review the situation.

    :D

  6. you forgot my charles abdul khaliq corner boy

No I didn't Mark, I saw it and read it as a comment on Simon M's first post and that some obscure DJ known as 'Corner Boy' had just got it!

    :P

Will squeeze it in for you... if you ask me nice! :D

On that subject, t'would be really helpful if people listed Artist - Title - Label in the way I've formatted the above!

    Cheers,

  8. Hey Bob, I know that's what you meant, hence the  .

And you didn't ruin the thread, just added a smile... and a bit of spice!

Its all good and there's some legs in this baby yet! :)

Just had a listen to the track "Be Your Man"... its OK... the McCant Brothers it would appear... but I won't be paying what it seems to be going for!

I like to pick em up for a dollar... and then see em escalate to 20 bucks!

    :D

Cheers Bob, you just keep 'em coming.

Like Russ and Kev said already, your contributions are always excellent!

    All the best,

    Sean

  9. I think the harmonics on sock it / seventy seven is slowly picking up now, at least from the sales I've seen.

Cheers Bob.... What's the title?... is it "Be Your Man"?

I'm onto it while all the others are sleeping LOL!

    Sean

  10. Sorry folks, been out of action, in bed ill, since I started the thread and not been able to catch up properly from my iPhone.

Bob, you made me smile anyway :D and it certainly seems like that at times.

Certainly most Soul collectors, at one time or another, have picked up a little known 45, just wonderin' (Hopin') if it'll be the next biggie (...and command the biggie price tag to go with it!).

I doubt we've exhausted the thread just yet... there must be plenty more tunes out there that deserve some attention on these pages (if not, we can all wrap up and call it a day LOL).

So tomorrow, I'll do a quick roundup and let's see how the list is looking.

Hopefully the thread will have ignited a bit of interest in a few choice cuts and we'll be hearing some of 'em out and about in the coming months.

    So... anymore for anymore?

    Let's be knowing!

    Cheers,

    Sean

  11. By the way, did A&S ever record Top of the Stairs? (I'm presuming that they weren't Collins and Collins, something I've always wondered about !)

    Andy

    Yes they did.

Its on the 'Send It' LP.

    And its superb.

    RIP Nick Ashford.

    Sean
