Aha! I've just flipped it and it is Simon, yes. So, there's no difference whatsoever then! Sean

OK, in the mix, it's identical to my ears.... the only exception is the Acetate goes on for another 90 seconds or so longer than the issue. The issued 45 is 2:34 - The Acetate 4:00mins +. The last 90+ seconds of the acetate drops down in tempo to walking pace. The issued 45 maintains its uptempo throughout the entire 2:34. On balance, pretty sure I wouldn't pay the extra £300+ for 90 seconds of down tempo 'over matter' Sean

Don't think it sounds any different to my Parkway 45 Dave... will check properly, after the Marvin documentary on BBC4! Sean

Have just got word that Marvin Junior passed away this afternoon. We have known for a while that he was ill. Our sympathies to all his family and friends. One of the greatest voices in Soul Music. A great loss to us all. Marvin died from kidney failure and had a weak heart, his son Marvin Junior Jr. says his father died surrounded by family in his home in Harvey around 3:15 pm on Wednesday afternoon. He leaves such an incredible legacy. R.I.P Marvin Junior. Always Together. Sean

Someone sent me this old pic recently, with Bub in his Mobster attire. A bit of a rogues gallery here (and long before political correctness was deemed important). Left to Right; The 'Mighty' Bub - Johnny Bruce - John Benson - Sean Hampsey - Poke - Alan Senior We did wear some funny clobber back in the day! Sean

Bobby King, If You Don`t Want My Love, Wb 45 Value?
Sean Hampsey replied to a topic in Look At Your Box
The Bobby King 45 is very scarce. Took me years to get a copy. Couldn't resist a spare when I saw it recently. I did sell a copy of it for £100, last month. Yes, at the time we were playing it, it was considered an LP only track. So £100 as a minimum. Cut Glass 'Alive With Love' is my old Cleethorpes / Clifton Hall spin. No idea what it's worth now, but it cost me 50p from Lincoln market (though that was 30 odd years ago)! Sean -
Hi mate, It's 'Shiftless, Shady, Jealous Kinda People" - same as on the issue and the US copy. Good record it is too, in the 'Backstabbers' vein. Hope that you are well too Peter. I haven't forgotten that I owe you something! :0) Cheers buddy, Sean

Had a mate say once say 'not that sh*t again' :0) Hope to see you on 22nd June. It's been a while Rich. Sean

Found the Advert! Chicken n' O'Jays. Classic! Sean

Fully agree. One of my all time favourite records. Bought it as a new release after hearing it at my local Soul Club, the Charade in Rotherham. Took me a few months to track down a R/W Demo, but I did, eventually, and no matter how many records go through my hands its one I'll never part with. Absolute class. Sean

What Do You Say When Asked What Music You Like?
Sean Hampsey replied to Thfcliam's topic in All About the SOUL
I just say 'Soul Music'. Only once has a person said 'what's that?' Conversation ended there Sean -

Great playlists chaps. When's the next one? Sean

The Maverick copy was always found in Soul Packs, early 70's. Lovely record that introduced me to this great and very underrated singer. Think I have all his releases. His Zodiac sides are sublime. Sean

Johnny Taylor Or Is It Need Help Please ?
Sean Hampsey replied to Gerry H's topic in Look At Your Box
He's a big dealer, consistently listing and selling thousands of records. He probably hasn't given it much thought. The song your 45 plays is "Oh, How I Love You" written by J.W. Alexander on SAR 156. The label on your 45 reads "Keep On Lovin' You" written by Charlie Julien on SAR 156. It's incorrect. SAR 156 was obviously scheduled to be released with the 'Keep On Lovin' You' side coupled with "Run, But You Can't Hide" and then changed to "Oh How I Love You". But labels were printed for "Keep On Lovin' You" and some copies were pressed up with that incorrect label, before it was switched to the correct label "Oh, How I Love You". SAR 156 was the penultimate release on the label. There was obvious confusion around the time of Sam Cooke's death, when the label folded and "Keep On Lovin' You" was never released on the label, which is a shame as its a great song. Sean -
Johnny Taylor Or Is It Need Help Please ?
Sean Hampsey replied to Gerry H's topic in Look At Your Box
That's Johnnie Taylor 'Oh How i Love You' written by J.W. Alexander on SAR 156, but with mis-titled label. There's another copy recently sold on eBay here; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Northern-Soul-45-JOHNNIE-TAYLOR-Keep-On-Lovin-You-SAR-HEAR-/380615108518?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item589e6da7a6&nma=true&si=kaCCe8HHy%252BZRotdGxY3Bw9m9S1s%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Lovely record Sean -
For me the real beauty by Thelma on Barry is the sensational 'Second Chance'. I have everything by her, but this is my favourite by a long way. Comes over very much like a Barbara Lynn track in parts, but it twists and turns leading the listener all over the place. A complex, soulful, joyous gem, I will play forever and always love. Sean
