  1. Only two releases of this I reckon Dave. The other is the flip of the AWESOME "But If You Must Go" on Miko. I wonder if your acetate is the Miko version? Wouldn't mind geting my hands on the other half!! Was on Ebay last month from Craig Moerer and made £700. Nice! Sean Hampsey
  2. Hi Alan, You wont see a President copy for less than a ton these days. Saw one at Yarmouth earlier this year in a guys box for £120. Always been one of the 'harder' Presidents. BTW... Hows married life? Enjoyed last Saturday night mate... despite the fact that I could only do 45 minutes for you... due to the missus being ill in the car park during my spot. Not the first person that's happened to though I reckon! Sean
  3. Sorry Pete. You're right... and I replied to the post saying 'yes please'.... but I didn't want to push it! (shrinking violet that I am). If you've still got it.... please Bill my card (i guess you've still got my details inc address etc) and lets be having the blighter! Or shall I send you a few bob for postage by PayPal? Mucho appreciated Pete. Just need Tammi Lynn then. A good days work! Sean Hampsey
  4. Soul Sounds Update -------- Just bagged the Roscoe Robinson 'That's Enough' on Soul Sounds that has eluded me for so many years! It's a Yellow label and in Bootiful condition! Only need the Human Beinz & Tammi Lynn 45's to complete the set! Anyone? Sean Hampsey
  5. Its on 'American Music Makers" label and currently goes for £25 - £30 No more than that! Sean Hampsey
  6. Brilliant Track this! Tragic that it was never released... until the kent CD. One of Roy Hamilton's top 5 recordings I'd say! Sean Hampsey
  7. Hard to pick a favourite, Blake. Awesome repertoire! Always Loved: I Fooled You This Time To Be A Lover After The Laughter I Wont Need You To Choose Suicide If You Cant Be True Nothing Can Stop Me Bet You Never Thought Does She Have a Friend Let Me Make Love To You For The Sake Of The Memories I've said it many times before, next to Willie Tee, Gene Chandler had the slickest delivery ever on a good lyric. Sean Hampsey
  8. Hi Stevie, We hit the same spot again! I'm on with that package for you... Please drop me a pm as to where it needs to go! Cheers Sean
  9. Agree. The Ultimations is the Ultimate! Also, Highly recommend Otis Clay's 'That's How It Is" (flip of Show Place) and "Tired Of Falling In And Out Of Love" from this logo (infact all O C's tracks are superb on One-derful). As an aside, There's a wicked version (LP only) by Patti Drew. As for Lincoln, I spent a lifetime there one year! Fond memories of the Drill Hall (and a girl called Kim from Birchwood ). Sean Hampsey
  10. In a similar vein to the Lou Johnson is Winfield Parker "28 Ways She Loves Me". A real gritty performance from the man. Definately a sleeper! Also recommend Luv Co "Things Are Not The Same". Real nice Fingersnapper! Always loved Millie Jackson's "Ask Me What You Want" - Superb Femme Midtempo! Joe Simon - "Let Me Be The One Who Loves You" is an old Spring Spin of mine from Clifton Hall - Its a magnificent bouncy thing, similar to Phillip Mitchell's "I'm So Happy" All Top Tips (IMO) Sean Hampsey
  11. DITTO. Life changing stuff... and just right for a Disco Graphic! Sean
  12. I would have said that most of us around that time would have gone to clubs (and Youth clubs) and had both feet in both camps. When I was a young Mod (then Skinhead, Then Suedehead, Then Mod again) Soul music and Reggae were played and enjoyed (and danced to) side by side. A typical playlist might include: Young Gifted And Black You Can Get It If You Really Want Wonderful World, Beautiful People The Ten Commandments Love Of The Common People 54 46 Was My Number Skinhead Moon Stomp (+ Must Catch A Train) Wreck a Pum Pum You Got Soul Al Capone Long Shot Kick De Bucket Israelites Big Five Pinkney Gal And these would rub shoulders, seamlessly, alongside Needle In A Haystack I Got A Feeling Going To A Happening Heaven Must Have Sent You Help Me I'm Gonna Miss You Everybody's Going To A Love In The Cheater I Got What It Takes I'll Always Love You etc. Even those 'Soul Fans / Mods' who understood the distinction would still dance to and collect Reggae alongside Soul. Most of my mates collected and appreciated both Soul & Reggae in equal parts and I've still got all of the above in my collection from that time. Not 'Reggae Hardcore' I know, but very much a part of my youth. So as far as ACTIVE interaction between scenes goes, I'd say that (at least up north) they were one and the same. Sean Hampsey
  13. Agree, Dont Take My Mind is also a good record.... as are... My Heart Is Closed For The Season - best Capitol track I'm Living A Lie - best Fame track I Want Sunday Back Again - best Atlantic track IMVVVHO I'm just not keen on the current big 'Money' rave. Guess I AM the Man who said no! Sean
  14. £160 last time I saw it for sale John, but you're right, its rarely ever seen. "Wherever You Are" is a rarer item, but less indemand, perhaps because its a gorgeous deepie as opposed to a dancer! Last seen at £75.00 (But I wouldn't part with my copy for that). Good Luck Sean
  15. Funny that.. her worst Money track... for my...errrr.....Money! Remember 'Make Me Yours'?.. Not to mention 'Lonely Love' phew! I must be missing something because I've heard others say the same about this track. Absolutely no accounting for personal taste is there? Nice Avatar though!... ...Even better than my Sam Dees in White Fishnets! Sean
  16. Have him taken out and shot! The record has been known in the UK since it was first released. I played it out over 30 years ago. Be just as well covering up 'Rock The 'flipping' Boat'. Sean
  17. Mine too Ken. A Rotherham Windmill classic mate! Remember old Bob Steer, Darryl Gunson and Craig Dethic straight on the floor to that baby every time I played it. Bobo Mr Soul is..... Beau Williams... (of course!). Sean
  18. I've got an Ovide 45 which does not feature on any of the three Ovide listings I've seen. I'll dig it out when I get the chance and post up the number. Sean Hampsey
  19. Totally different Linda Jones, Mike. Later... but not Greater! Coming to Rotherham Mate? Adam said you might! Sean Hampsey
  20. I've got one and its Bloody hard to come by. T'was issued prior to Boogie Man Orchestra. Tim Brown rates it as a 'Don't Hold Your Breathe Trying To Find One' 45. Got to be a £80+ ?? Sean Hampsey
  21. Can't believe, no Skate & no Willie Bop! My favourites too!! Sean
  22. How are the Tickets Going Martin? Any Left? Apparantly they're coming from all over the UK for this one. 1,000 Pilgrims visiting the Home Of Modern Soul! Can you get an extension?... I mean to the building, not the bar! Sean
  23. Morning Gareth, Nice flipside too! Sean
  24. Well here's one Real Soul DJ that will be getting hold of it! And I bet a few others will too.. (but they probably wont be playing it out until 2015)
