  1. When I were a lad, this would have been called a 'Blues Party' Malc. There were loads happening in Sheffield and I imagine still are. Normally held in a Basement, or similar. It's funny you mentioned this because I was only thinking yesterday that the origins of the Soul 'allnighter' in the UK probably lie in the 'Blues Party'. These would have been going on pretty much every night of the week somewhere in Sheffield, Birmingham, Manchester, London etc.,,, and even Leeds! Sean
  2. I have it (not for sale tho'). Could send you a copy of my LP / CD swap with it on... mentioned earlier in this thread! Let me know Sean
  3. Positive I've got a spare. Will check tonight. £5 +p&p if you want it. Sean
  4. Hi Peter, So what happened to Eric? A top bloke! Where was he (and you from)? Sean
  5. Not the first time you've plugged this on here, Ted. Awesome choice! Sean

  8. --> QUOTE(C.B @ Dec 20 2006, 02:18 PM) link I've been told that they both played it from the LP. But then again I was only a kid back then in the early 80s, so I can't tell for sure.. Still, I've never seen it for sale before or met anyone else with a copy.. Seareling & Sam both played Tony Fox off the LP when first spun (circa 1981) as we all did. Was a couple of years later before I even heard of the 45. Sean
  9. Four copies just turned up of the Procedures. Sean
  10. That one was an uncredited Dick James acetate, Gene. It's actually by Nancy Holloway. I tried letting John M know, but I couldn't remember the title at the time. She had a minor hit with it in France (in French). Sean
  11. An easy one for me... Motown with all subsidiaries (Soul / Gordy / Tamla etc.). A Nice prezzy. Sean
  12. A Nice Mid Deepie in the style of Eddie & Ernie / James & Bobby Purify / Knight Brothers etc Known amongst Deep collectors... Don't know what it goes for though Pete. Sean

  14. Dear all, I finally shipped the blighter... just in time for Christmas... Anybody not received it or otherwise? ........................Please let me know. Still wading through the mountain of Soul... and can't wait for the Hols so that I can listen more intently at home, as opposed to whilst doing the ton on the Motorway. BIG thank you to all involved in the swap.... (and for being quick off the mark in getting it posted). Special thanks to Chris for having the initiative... ... and Seasons greetings to all. Sean
  15. Ok, if we're doing Ovide records.. they don't come anymore overt than "The Skipper Lee Story" by Skipper Lee. Must mention his own name at least a dozen times. Sean
  16. So saddened and shocked to read this. I don't think I knew Simon personally but read his posts with interest. Sincere condolences to his family and friends. RIP Sean
  17. Hi Eddie, Here's another I just found on t'internet from MJB. I think I've got one of these with Ben Aiken "Satisfied" on one side and P J Proby "That's The Tune" on t'other. Another wierd coupling. Sean
  18. I do remember Bill (and his sidekick Torchie) very well. I reckon those two lads were the scene's first 'returnees' circa 1979. Boy, he got into it all over again in a BIG way, didn't he. I vaguely remember Clifton Hall.... it's so very long ago. Perhaps we'll need to wait until Bill returns again, to verify that it even existed! Sean
  19. Ah, Happy days. The Balloon has long perished... but I've still got the stick Mr Mannion. What fun we had with it. I do hope the Haemmoroids are on the mend.
  20. Hey, no Problem Tony, any time. I know you'd be one of the first to put me straight if I'd done the same mate! Sean
  21. Yes... that's true... we were at school together and I always remember you, Mr Mannion, trying to get us both to come and look at some puppies.
