Wow... some compilation that with material from Chess, Mercury and 20th Century all on one slab... from the Grandfathers of Group Soul music. I played 'Closer' in the middle of the night at the last Soul Essence and the floor was in raptures! Also heard 'Don't Trick Me Treat Me' at some point during the weekend... another superb dancer. Can't fault these boys on Ballads either, can we. The Love We Had.... Always Together .... Standing Ovation.... I Touched a Dream... are all sublime. Pity about the shortage of ABC material on their though. I would have loved to have seen "Slipped, Tripped, Stumbled & Fell In" (possibly their finest hour) and "My Life Is So Wonderful" the superb uptempo fingersnapper! High quality release though. An essential purchase I'd have thought. Sean

They had 1 album on RSO, 2 on RCA 2 on Handshake... that I'm aware of. Couldn't tell you which one fetches the most money these days.... but it's certainly not the Handshakes. I guess the RSO LP is the hard one! Sean
  3. You're right Steve. "That's How It Is" ... always rated it.

Was touted as the vocal to The Brothers "Are You Ready For This" at the time. The flipside to "Get Ready For This" "Where It's Warm" is a stunning 'crossover type' number, well worth picking up. Worth mentioning that Revelation were the warm up act for The Bee Gees whilst at RSO... and later had a Northern MONSTER with "Feel It" on Handshake (one of the biggest tunes at Clifton Hall) also worth seeking out. So, anybody else got a copy of 'Sweet Talk & Melodies' that credits 'Revelation Movement' as the artist?. Bought it as a new release and it's always intrigued me that I've never seen another. Sean
  5. Come off it Steve. You can't keep up with Fraser (Can you?). Can anybody? Sean

While this thread is up, thought I'd mention that my UK 45 copy credits the artist as REVELATION MOVEMENT Anyone else got/seen one of these? Sean
  7. Bit of a 'Techie' Solution that Steve. Most of these lads have only just got used to CD's haven't they? YouSendIt might just push 'em over the edge! Sean BTW, Who's this 'Crinkly' bloke that's on your Al Green CD?
  8. Me too Chris. Thinking Bank Holiday Monday before I even get into the collection. Still, I think we all prefer it when they land through the post box in phases rather than all at once. Sean
  9. Agree Gasher. Big Guy. Tremendous Taste! Sean
  10. OK. Glad to have been of assistance. Cant imagine how FDsoul got that impression in the first place. Sean
  11. OK And...rew Has he been in touch yet? I pm'd and emailed him, but he's probably having his afternoon nap! Sean

  15. Right Adam, wrongly advertised as 'first time on a 45'. Original 45 is seriously rare. Sean

  18. No John... it's proper. ZTSC Stamped and everythang!
  19. Agree with you there mate. Sean PS: Best thread in ages! Thanks.
  20. Here you go. Check out the credits on this baby. Produced By Rick Hall Written By George Jackson Recorded At Fame Studios Home of the Muscle Shoals Sound See those credits on any 45... you'd buy it like a shot! Don't know about UK chart placing / release Peter, but it was hammered in '71 for sure! Sean
  21. Five Weeks @ Number 1 and sold 5,000,000 copies. Probably Rick Hall's / Fame's Biggest hit... and it helped pave the way for tons of 'superior' Soul material from Muscle Shoals.... and George Jackson. Sean
  22. Yes... but not just any old George Jackson! Wrote some incredible stuff has George... and still doin' the business! Sean
  23. Guys it was a BIG hit for The Osmonds! George Jackson wrote it for The Jacksons who (alledgedly) turned it down... but the Utah Brothers recorded it and it became a massive hit! Fascinating! Sean
  24. T'was 'The Osmonds'. Sean
  25. Think the promotion of Soul Music in mainstream media is a very good thing. Bring it on! Think the 'mostly' misinformed reporting of 'Northern Soul' (The scene and the music) in mainstream media a bad thing.... purely because the portrayals of the people involved in the 'scene' are usually inaccurate or derogatory. Were someone able to put forward a well written piece on the Music, its global reach and the extraordinary camaraderie within it (without making 'Northern' out to be some bizarre cult) I'd be very much in favour.
