  2. You can't be last Jock... I've not copied mine yet! Like you, they keep coming through with tracks I've got on my Master (such as Clarence Reid "Part Time Lover" - Bobby Bland "I Wouldn't Treat A Dog" - Veda Brown "Shoutin Out Love" etc) so I'm constantly deleting and adding at the moment as there's not much point in sending stuff out that's a repeat... when the space could be used for something else. Agree that Percy Sledge is a great track. One of the best double siders on the planet as it features an incredible version of "Rainbow Road" on the flip! Always been a popular choice in this neck of the woods. How many CD's have we had so far? Anyone kept count? Sean
  3. Never mind a CD Malc... although that's a good place to start. Get the images together and I'll get them online on www.soulvenues.com Derek's idea is a good un... and if he doesn't have the time I'll get someone in my studio who has. OK Buddy BTW: Just recalled the time we drove down to the ruins of the Torch together (about 28 years ago) and the look on your face when faced with the rubble. I don't think we took any pictures at the time. Pity. There must be loads of piccies out there. Please forward them to Mr Burton and lets see if we can't get them up there at some point this side of Christmas! TVM Sean
  4. I had a Yellow one back in the 70's, Steve. I heard it was Canadian soon after and bought it as a proper one (for a couple of quid)... but sold it for pennies a few years later as by then I believed it to be a boot. Pretty sure it was. The label design was unlike those above... just pure black type on a yellow background. Must be loads of them out there. Is this the one you're referring to Pete? Sean
  5. This was quite an early Bootleg (around 72) if its the one I'm thinking of Pete. Was done when getting a proper one would have been a weeks wages. Now it's a steady fiver! Sean
  6. Yes Colin, The 'Right On' is entitled 'Sweet Sweet Man' but is essentially the same record. The flip is quite a goodie too 'Aint No Man Like My Man'... Sean
  7. No, as far as I recall a different record entirely. Sean
  8. I've had the record for decades... Was talked about years ago, but didn't realise it was in demand 'again' until a couple of years ago when Mike Charlton played it at Yarmouth and later when Alan Darker got his. Mine had been gathering dust in the drawer since the mid 70's... but will almost certainly be giving it a spin at MONUMENTAL next Saturday night!. Also have the 'Right On' version which has the superb "Aint No Man" on the flip. Sean
  9. Was pressed twice Martin. One is distributed by SCORPIO one is slightly shorter with a different mix. Sean
  10. What does he know about it (I mean... apart from writing and producing it) It's a typo! It is really. A Typo. All other theories are just trying to cover up the truth... ... and Ross is in on it! Victim of a crap typesetter... that's all. A typo!
  11. One of my fave vocalists. "To Get What You Got" is my No1 Top Tune of all time... and his "Was It Something I Said" on Hi and his UK Island 45 "You Bring out The Love In Me" not very far behind. Modern soul fans should also check out his Edge release "You Never Miss Your Water" (which also came out on UK). Tremendous vocalist. And yes, the same guy as on the B-Mac release. Sean
  12. It's a typo. It was meant to have been called "Back To Bach". It's a typo. A typing error. A typo.
  13. On with the subject of "You Succeeded" ... has anyone else noticed the incredible similarity with The Flirtations "Natural Born Lover" on Josie? (It's the flipside of "Change My Darkness Into Light") Both "Natural Born" and "You Succeeded" are Sid Barnes / JJ Jackson tracks with an almost identical backing track. Never heard anyone mention this before... just wondered if anyone else had noticed. Sean
  14. That 'looks' like a Silver version of the Gold label depicted by Roger, above. If it's Silver and not WHITE it would appear to be a Proper New York press I'd say. BTW: Symbol & Eastern label releases share the same characteristics as the Broadway issues & promos (above) which I guess would figure as they were all Juggy Murray (Sue Subsidiary) labels. On a personal note, I've always preferred "You Succeeded" to "A World Without Sunshine"... regardless of label. Sean
  15. Or even with Connie Laverne, Gareth... but I doubt it. All 3 titles top Drawer.
  16. Both great records IMO. Phylis Hyman had a pretty good version of "Can't Live Without You"... but Connie takes the biscuit! Lovely tune. As for the current price... market forces! Best (or at least, currently most expensive) Soul Pack find... probably Terry Callier "Look At Me Now" Sean
  17. Loks as though your copy of "You Succeeded" confirms it. Exactly the same font and typeface / typesize. Sean BTW Blake. Thanks for the best wishes for London. Should be a blinder! Was good to see you & Nicky up at Thorne. A crackin' night!
  18. The old Boot has a Scripted Font Blake on the word Broadway. Doesn't look like the Boot that I remember, then again, it's not the same typeface as the issue either. What does it say in the run out? Sean
  19. Yes John, it's the one I mentioned above. It's on Kresla (Yellow & Red Label) "The World Keeps On Spinning" which shares the same flip side as the East Coast 45. It probably is a 'type' of Northern Soul.... midtempo... dramatic.... swirling strings... but pretty weak, Bobby Goldsboro stylee vocals. So... accepting offers above a grand then!
  20. They all contain some superb stuff don't they. Makes a mockery of the whole 'Rare Soul' thing when you hear what could.... and ought to be... played out by some of our Top DJ's, these days. Thanks to all for the time, effort and imagination that's going into these CD's. Just can't wait to get off to work in the car in the morning this past week or two, such is the quality. Sean
