  1. Yep - Think I'd kill for a Marvin Gaye 'My Love For You' 45. Nice one! Sean
  2. Pretty sure have seen another clip with Walter on stage; stood on his crutches in a small Chicago club.
  3. Later date press on same catalogue number after pink labels expired. Sean
  4. No, that track never came out, under that artist name. Sean
  5. That's really nice Mick. Never seen it before. Have had Constellation W/D forever but the Bunky copy is new on me. Great double sider. Excellent! Thanks for sharing. Sean
  6. Hi John, I've got a UK Test Pressing of this. If you recall, I played it at Essence in the goodbye songs on Sunday. Agree the US copy is quite scarce, but the UK one was never issued so it's nice to have. As a 70's UK label Soul record its got to be one of the rarer ones, but no harder than Revelation Movement which was a proper issue immediately withdrawn. Sean PS: My UK Timi Yuro cost me a quid from Worksop Market, so how rare can that be
  7. I had a mint original given to me many years ago as part payment for a lift home. Got rid of it within a fortnight. Always been an absolute cacophony to these ears! Sean
  8. Essential 45 Barry. Sean
  9. Yep - I agree. Very unusual. Must be a mix up somewhere Sean. To my knowledge Mitch Parkin is as straight as they come. A proper collector. Big mates with the Gouch, Sean. Hope it gets sorted for both of you. Sean
  10. The Movie is Superb! The place itself is Magical! A couple of pics of me and Tats from a few years ago... trying to pass off as Dan and Spooner... Sean
  11. I always thought it meant 'get a groove' Pete. As in 'copp me an eyeful' i.e. 'Get an eyeful' of something. One of the first pure 'dance' records I ever bought, as a very young lad. Still can't help but love it. Sean
  12. It's a 'Pop - Soul' kinda thing. It's certainly not James Carr. It's not even Sam Dees. It's definitely not Lou Pride. It's 'Baby Love' for a new generation. It's happened before and it will happen again..when most of us are all dead and gone. It's all only Rock N' Roll and I like it... a bit. Sean
  13. Think I'm with you all the way there. Don't think for a minute that 'the scene has never been better'. Also agreed, there was a time when great quality records were turning up every week. Sadly, those days are long gone. Hence the big push on the above. It's rare we hear anything 'new' anywhere near as good. Glad you liked the record. Here's hoping Ace / Kent find more awesome discoveries in the Dore vaults, during the months ahead. Sean
  14. I agree with you. Was going by the SKM Discography which shows the Dore period as 1967 https://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/tmccall.htm Certainly sounds later to my ears too! Sean
  15. Glad you like it guys. Don't forget to tune into Steve Plumb this Sunday on Solar Radio between 8pm — 10pm when, at some point, a fuller version will be played. I promise, it'll be worth your while! Sean
  16. Shades of Na Allen 'Thanks For Nothing' throughout the whole thing John. Said the same thing to Ady a couple of weeks ago. And yes... the 'Jingle Remix' is what you'll be hearing tomorrow! Enjoy matey! Sean
  17. Very well Peter, thank you, and hope you are too. Oh... and I haven't forgotten... Sean
  18. Hi Mate, don't know if there's a 'listen again' on Solar, but you can be sure it'll be getting lots of plays this spring & summer. Ace / Kent have the Dore Catalogue and (as with Spencer Wiggins, Willie Walker, Willie Bollinger, Candi Staton and others of a 'crossover' or midtempo nature) they've entrusted me and Steve Plumb to spread the word... along, of course, with Mr C. Sean
  19. Awesome is a pretty overused word these days, around the forums and on Facebook etc. to describe a particularly good Soul record, but in all honesty, I don’t think it would be an over exaggeration to describe something that was sent to me, only a short while ago, as ‘absolutely AWESOME!’ This is a previously unreleased POWERHOUSE of a soul record by the great, southern soul artist, Toussaint McCall, recorded during his brief period with Dore. This wonderful track entitled ‘Laughed (Until I Cried)’ is without doubt a very significant find and the best thing I’ve heard since the unreleased, at the time, Bobby Moore from a couple of years ago (the breath-taking ‘Can’t Get Away’) and Soul music aficionados will be pleased to hear it’s in a similar vein; soulful, incredible, pleading, lyrics, ‘deep with a beat’ rhythm and fabulous backing vocals! I’m gonna try and post a short clip and you’ll be able to judge for yourselves, and in fact you should be able to tune into Steve Plumb this Sunday on Solar Radio between 8pm — 10pm when, at some point, a fuller version will be played. I've exposed this to only a couple of friends and they feel the same as I do. This is a really great Soul track that, sadly, has been lying in the vaults for almost 50 years and is now simply dying to be heard and danced to, as always intended. It’s envisaged there’ll be a release some time later this year, via Ace/Kent who own the rights to Dore, but meanwhile, it’s a real privilege to be able to share something this good so you can be sure you’ll be hearing it played loud this Spring & Summer at such esteemed places as the Prestatyn, Soul Essence and Cleethorpes Weekenders (and wherever else Ady Croasdell, Steve Plumb and myself will be doing our funky thing). Enjoy! Sean. Toussaint McCall ‘Laughed (Until I Cried)’ Dore Records (Unreleased)
  20. I'm with you on that Mike. They are a strange lot if this thread's owt to go by! OK Folks, any more for any more? Gonna do a consolidated list later tonight and then wrap it up! Always believed that as a Soul DJ and Soul lover the biggest part is to share, spread and promote the music. Thanks for all the positive contributions so far. Quite possibly the most varied list we've had in the past 7 years. If you've been turned on to just one new track that someone has kndly taken the time to post on here, it's been worth it! Cheers, Sean
  21. I just mentioned that above Mike. To be honest, I've always felt the Buddah 45 was the same vocal take as the ATCO 45, with a changed backing track and strings overlayed, rather than a seperate recording. Sean
  22. Yes Marc, talking the fabulous uptempo c/u you played at Rimini that I blurted out the artist to you... as I've had that for about 35 years too! Say no more Sean
  23. Yes Andy. Its on the 'Maybe' Roulette LP which is what I used to play it from 30 odd years ago, Bradford Queens Hall etc. But then I later came across the German Bellaphon 45. With the interest in the unreleased Motown versions, which turned up a few years ago, I feel this certainly has legs, in a storming 'old school' Northern stylee! Sean
