  1. Ah. Thanks Pete. I get it. Nick was referring to the price of the first one that turned up, rather than the current price of the ones that turned up in quantity. To be honest, I had thought that these were legitimate pressings, rather than Boots. I believed that they were newly pressed 45's, by the owner of the Valise label, of previously unissued material, from legitimate tapes of his own (unreleased material). He also pressed up a lovely Frank Dell track around the same time, in "Welcome Home" and did a limited run of JGW on Red vinyl which is quite rare I believe. Sean
  2. Well done Dave Moore for at least taking a listen to it on Rogers show. I find a lot of so called 'Modern Soul' leaves me cold too. But there's some awesome REAL soul still being recorded out there... and in 10+ years or so there'll be a helluva lot of 'Northern' fans trying to find 'em. I've always found it an interesting phenomena - it's as if many Northern fans really struggle to hit a moving target... and can only get their eye (or ear) in once the dust has settled! Meanwhile... I'm tracking em down, loving 'em... and stockpiling 'em up towards me pension! Sean
  3. I've never had it on US either Pete. Remember for years we all thought there was no such thing as a US copy... Just imagine if it had never been played over here until the first US copy showed up (T. Brown - around 12 years ago?) and how expensive it would be now on US had there been no UK copies around. Several thousand quids worth I reckon! I don't know where the rumours came from about the UK recording. Somehow I just can't see it... the backing is just soooooo Philly.... but if it was its the best British recording in the history of the world. A bloody AWESOME record that still thrills me to the core..... (and I get shivers... all over my skin!). Here's a pic of the US copy I nicked from a previous page. Sean
  4. The UK Demo and issue are both pretty scarce. £250 - £300 for sure... for either copy.... in MINT condition. US Copy is rarer still!

  6. Sandra Feva & Sarah Vaughan for £25!!!! Best tracks I've seen on here for ages... going for a song! OK, I know they're both on 45 but these are a must purchase for someone into Top Drawer Crossover / Modern Soul... if you don't already have 'em! Quality! Sean
  7. THE EAGLE HAS LANDED Welcome aboard Andy. Hope you're well old chum. It's only been 27 years... What you been up to? Will be good to get us all behind the decks again at Rotherham. Need to get a date Malc, preferably in the not too distant future (a couple of us might not make it another 12 months) . Sean
  8. The other two WB titles by Cool Sounds "I'll Take You Back" and the awesome "Boy Wonder (Who Made Good)" are superb deep soul Baz. Sean
  9. Watered down Contemporary material, Steve. Give me that gritty 60's stuff any day!
  10. There you go John & Rod.... All tracks from 67, 68 and 69. "I've Gotta Find A Way" is from 1969... as is the Cloud Nine LP, Dennis Edwards first Temptations album. Sean
  11. I've got the compilation Rod. It's 60's alright. I always used t play it off that LP. Red and Light Blue cover. Big 16 or something??? Sod it, i'll go and look for it now. Sean
  12. Agree Andy, Fact is, there are some genuinely soulful artists recording in every decade (60's to present day) except that in recent years we've had to search harder to find the real deal. Worth the effort though when you come across something Soulful... and fresh! Would certainly reccommend the recent albums from... Valarie Adams Ruby Baker April Hill Onyx1 Kendra Ross Anthony Hamilton Theryl Sharon Jones and a real left fielder from 'Fried'... which is superb! Here these... and more... at Without Boundaries next Sunday! (A blatant plug for Contemporary Soul!) Sean
  13. I believe Sweden and Finland both used the TMK prefix... so its one of those. They were normally issued with pic sleeves. Nice one that! Sean
  14. Ha! My dad bought that album as a new release Joe. I was brought up with the "Off To Dublin In The Green" tune and know every word of it to this day! Top Tune!
  15. I've a few Irish TMG's. Just grabbed these out of the box... Temptations - Aint To Proud To Beg TMG699 Temptations - Ball Of Confusion TMG749 Temptations - It's Summer TMG783 Temptations - That's The Way Love Is TMG741 Temptations - Smooth Sailing TMG808 Temptations - Superstar TMG800 Temptations - I Could Never Love Another TMG658 Four Tops - So Deep Within You TMG850 Stevie Wonder - Every Time I See You I Go Wild TMG626 Stevie Wonder - If You really Love Me TMG798 Also have The Contours - Just a Little Misunderstanding Four Tops - Since You've Been Gone and others (that I can't recall)... but can't help thinking there's a Brenda Holloway "Where Were You" in there somewhere. Agree that EMI (Ireland) Ltd will have cherry picked the best sellers, but I still reckon that there were at least 300 releases... and they won't all have been chart toppers, so I guess there'll be a few juicy items if you look for 'em! Had loads of great stuff out of Dublin over the years. Apart from scores of unusual Irish releases (Esther Philips on Polydor etc) I once hit a shop full of imports at a quid each with loads of nice US Philly and Epic releases, Anthony White "Hey Baby", Betty Lavette "You Made a Believer" etc. A wonderful place! Saoirse!
  16. Didn't the Paula Rousell gal (who did the Blowing My Mind To Pieces 'cover') do the Love You Baby vocal? Sean
  17. Jock, I'm guilty too. My excuses include a devastating flood, the arrival of a new baby and a feckin Kidney Stone... and apart from the fact that I lost the master copy I'd done some months ago in the flood (it'll be on a Refuse Tip somewhere on the outskirts of Chesterfield) I aim to record it all over again, this week, and get it out before the end of August. So... you're not the only Slacker Mr O'Connor! Sean
  18. Thanks for that Neil. Always wondered if SS ever got a slice of the Shalimar action on SOLAR etc.... after all, I always believed that the group, in name at least, was his 'creation'.... even if loosely based on the Verve group, The Shalimars. Fascinating insight mate. Thanks again. Sean
  19. ONE OF OUR AIRCRAFT IS MISSING! Come on. Somebody on here must recognise him! I found a website that he'd done, Malc, a few years ago with clips of his fave records, Bobby Hutton "Lend A Hand" etc. So he's out there... somewhere! Chocs away! Sean
  20. Agree Neil. Must have made a couple of bob on Uptown Festival / Shalimar though, I'd have thought! ? Sean
