Sure do Steve, I took Dave down to Yarmouth to do the 'Forum'. We smoked 80 fags between us on the journey! Remember the Classic session when good old Dave Halsall did his "Why did you leave us Dave?" speech during the question & answers. Just F'ckin hilarious!

It's the title of an album, listed on the Brunswick catalogue and is a duet with Jackie Wilson. Couldn't tell you if it's a 45... but I'd like one! Bloody good tune! Sean

Confirms what I wrote earlier. JJ a 70's record... but doesn't even show the date (does it?). The Serial Number DDS on the 'Footsee' denotes "Disco Demand Series" I'd have said. Still... a very interesting item. And just LOVE the look of the 2 Trojan Hits! Sean

I would say that the '68 refers to the original Chosen Few on Roulette... but your copy is a 70's issue by the looks of it (I've a few Irish 70's Soul 45's on Pye from the same period). Sean

Where did that 3 years go? I was showing some of Daves old letters to Tats only the other week. In amongst it was a flyer that Dave did for the Deep Soul Appreciation Society, which we started together in the late 80's. He and I were the only members! If I get the chance I'll post a copy of it up here. It's pretty hilarious in retrospect and suggests that people should complete a questionnaire to qualify! Wonder if interest might have been greater if we'd started it nowadays? Sean

Yes. Like thousands of so called 'Northern Soul' records were. From the stuff I've read on here this afternoon it seems very few understand the subject at all (or my previous thread). But you've summed it up with your question. Northern Soul, more often than not, IS Disco music i.e. music made to dance to... in Disco's - back in the 60's & 70's. Sean

Amazing! I've mentioned it on here before... but flipping over "Brokenhearted" in the late 60's and finding "Baby I've Got It" on the 'B' side is what got me into all of this! Classic. Sean

Ye Gods, I played "Why Weren't You There" out over 30 years ago... and I'm sure I wasn't the first! IMO by far the classier side. Some great stuff found on the back of 'Northern' classics e.g. flip over Bob Relf "Blowing My Mind" for a stunning slab of Soul in "Girl, You're My Kind Of Wonderful". Again (IMO) much the better side! Sean

Most people on here would think that 'Pure Disco'... without Soul... is 'crud'. But many would also recognise that there are some extremely Soulful records that were made to dance to... in a DISCO! So Pure Disco.... not so good.... Soulful Disco.... aok.... Take Chubby Checker's "At The Discotheque" and start from there. You'll soon get the hang of it! Sean

I was plugging the Bobby Patterson "I'm In Love With You" on Action late 70's and into the early 80's at Clifton Hall & Cleethorpes. After much perseverance (it wasn't quite what the allnighter 'scene' had been used to) it became a Biggie and a bit of an anthem for me at the time. Soon after (at Cleethorpes) Robin or Adam (or both) started playing the Entertainers version. At the time it was a pretty new release (Recorded for the Beach scene) but I would have said it was a year or two earlier than '85. Either way, Bobby Patterson nicks it for me! Sean

Yes.. "I Didn't Have To" is a helluva better tune Adam. That said.... it's not exactly his best 45 is it? (Although it is better than the crumby Locations). Hope you're well mate. Sean
