  1. Hi Roger, Note the Orange (orig) label is MTU/Watts City The Blue copy just says Watts City. Sean
  2. Sam's old 'Fantastic Puzzles' cover up (if my memory serves me right). I got in touch with the label owner at the time it was first uncovered (early 80's). He sent me about 20 copies (all orange) and one copy of the Bill Williams (of Bileo) "Things Will Be Better Tomorrow" track which I played at Cleggy. I reckon that's quite a bit scarcer than Bileo, which I'm shocked to see going for over a ton! Sean
  3. A tragedy is a tragedy regardless of who it happens to. But we are Soul Music fans - and when tragedy befalls those artists who were responsible for the creation of the music we love we have a right to wish them well and feel that they might well have deserved better - especially in a world where minor talent is, so often, amply rewarded. I feel that anyone who wouldn't mourn for the sad life and death of James Carr (for example) just wouldn't really be able to appreciate his genius. Sean
  4. Yeh... funny who you meet while you're out Shoplifting innit!
  5. Hi Ian, Jaibi Issue £100+ Mint Jaibi Demo £80+ Mint One of the top 10 greatest records in ther history of the universe (IMO). Sean
  6. Great stuff Ian, I hope you didn't leave the store without a copy! I won't be happy 'til they've sold the lot! Every home should have one. Sean
  7. Hi Pat, Peabody's strictly for the Birds mate! We've opted for something a little more 'earthy' - The Real Memphis downtown...Residence Inn. Sean
  8. Paul, 'Aks' is an 'African American' pronunciation of 'ask'. I can only imagine that Moses will have been asked (or aks'ed) to revise the pronunciation for the 'released' take to make the record sound more 'commercial'. Very interesting observation mate. W Paul, "You Don't Love Me" is actually the Epitome of Sound - Not Moses Smith. Sean
  9. Nah Chris - they only talk funny in the South of the UK :-) Will definately be bringing Kevin to the Greyhounds. He's one of the world's most wonderful people. Agree, in amongst the comic books, we should hit pay dirt in River! Got another 30+ addresses to visit on our tour. Getting a little twitch, right now, just thinking about it. Sean
  10. Yes mate, off around Memphis, and what have you - Deep Sarf! Me, Tats and Kev Briscoe! You comin?
  11. Have just finished my 'first cut' guys. Needs 'road testing' and then we should be ready to go ahead and burn baby burn! Not had chance to listen to any of the ones received, yet! Just snowed under workwise, trying to get everything done before I go tho the states, next week. Apologising ahead of time if I dont get 'em to you until I return... but you never know, I might find a spare couple of hours before then! Will certainly do my best! Cheers me dears Sean
  12. You're right. Thanks Mel for your contribution to the "What Does It Take" list. But LOATD is still in front, by my reckoning! Anyone don't know it? Check the vid! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoJQ1bF243Y...feature=related 'Northern Dancers' stand aside! Sean
  13. I have an Australian Stateside copy. Quite possibly the worst record in my entire collection! Sean
  14. A case of Beer it is Bully! Thanks mate, for the plug and thanks to Ady & Kent for putting up with me while it came together. Both Ady and Tony Rounce also contributed to the CD, Bull, which is Millie Jackson's finest work, purely for the dancefloor. Bully thinks I've been rather coy about this 'Closely Guarded Secret' (a ready made collectors item?) so let it be said loud and clear the CD was put together, very much, with Soul Sourcers in mind... indeed the idea was first discussed on this very forum... so make sure you get yourself a copy without delay as its not just for the Dancefloor, it's Soul perfection for the Summer - the Bar B Que or while cruising in the motor - you'll find this Millie compilation will be the perfect accompaniment! You can secure your copy here... right here right now! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Soul-Dancefloor-Mi...n/dp/B0013NBBHE Bully will be asking Questions if you don't . Enjoy! Sean
  15. Agree they are rather nice and remarkable, Kirsty, but I wouldn't know how to convert from Acetate to CD... ...so I'm afraid I can't do that... even for you - dearest! Sean x
  16. So did... The Bay Brothers The Younghearts (70's LP). Alton Ellis Ellis Dodd Kenny G Judi Deleon Jonathan Butler Don Byron Deborah Davis... ... and Santana! So 'oft covered' but not as often as "Land Of 1,000 Dances" methinks! Sean
  17. The copy I always played at Clifton Hall was a 12". Don't remember the duration, though. Sean
  18. And not forgetting... the "Electric Indian" version (which, thankfully, I had forgot) was a pretty big 'Northern' spin mid 70's. "What Does It Take" "Aint No Big Thing" and "Hello Stranger" not in the same 'oft covered' BIG League, I'm afraid. Sean
  19. "Land of 1,000 Dances" Covers. Chris Kenner Cannibel & The Headhunters Wison Pickett Don Bryant Thee Midnighters J Geils Band Sam & Dave The Dynamics The Mad Lads Jimmy Barnes April Stevens Rufus Thomas Streetlife Tom Jones Sandy & The Accents The Boogie Kings The Action The Knickerbockerd Los Pajaros Eddie Money Fats Domino The Q Tips The Rascals The Ventures Walker Brothers Roy Orbison... ...Bill Haley And many more, I'm sure! Sean
  20. Sorry - just couldn't help myself Kirsty, OK then... on topic, "Land of 1,000 Dances" is one of the most covered songs of all time. So that would be my nomination. Now... back to my big thing!
  21. Adam, Mike. You really are the best! Just love ya! Sean
  22. US Keyman 50+ UK Minit 25 Max But Priceless nonetheless! Sean
  23. Hi Sweet Thing, Yeh, I'd 'Clocked' that on the Soul Clock discography. https://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/soulclock.htm Don't remember seeing one though on the old greenie thang logo! Or have i got a copy lurking in the vault! I'll be letting ye know! PoserMan
