  1. Pleased to hear it Sunshine... Don't forget to wrap up warm for cleggy! Sean
  2. Hi Steve, If he's only a bit 'off key' then I'm Mario frickin' Lanza! Reckon he wouldn't even get through to Boot Camp on X Factor with that vocal mate - then again I've heard enough Eurovision Song Contestants in my time to know what works in Europe! Think maybe I need to drink a few gallon more, down at Soul Essence, cos it always sounded dire to these ears! Mmmmmmmmmm Nail on head? ...... just realised why you and Gavin like it! Sean
  3. She certainly did. I bought it when out on UK Safari. The Robert Parker original was always a fave in JA. Sean
  4. Hate to disagree with my Yarmouth Bretheren, but I'm with Benji and Denbo. The vocals on this record are shocking beyond belief. A definate 'run for cover' tune for me whenever I hear it played out. Some records are rare for a very good reason - and this is one of my top 10 candidates for scarcity over quality. There are others . Sean
  5. Black Nasty is a Male led group (more recent) Vocal version with different backing track. The Audrey Matthews / Sharon McMahon uses the same backing as Johnnie Mae Matthews... (Johnnie Mae being Female). Would be interested in seeing a scan of the Acetate. Sean
  6. Stunningly Soulful B Side to this 45 "I'm Controlled By Your Love" Sean
  7. Crikey are ya mate? What's on in Cleggy? Is it one o' them there Soul nights? You'd better wrap up warm Gavin - especially after your bad bout! It'll be like Siberia in Mid November. Sean
  8. 30 people agree to record a single CD of Soul music, do 29 copies and send these copies to the other 29 members of the swap. In return, you receive 29 CD's worth of different music from 29 different people. A great way to hear something different - you just need to ensure that you do your original and send out your copies in a timely fashion! Hope that helps. Sean
  9. Ah.... Quick Draw Mannion.... Clifton Hall old boys... always at the ready! Sean
  10. https://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=FWJt556WysI Listen here!
  11. Clifton Hall spin, Peter. It's on small, Californian, indie label 'Plush' records. Richard had it off Mike Ward. Always was quite a toughie even back then. Now available on the Goldmine CD Modern Millionaires. Sean
  12. What do we reckon a UK Probe copy is worth. Got to be far scarcer than US ABC. Yes?
  13. Again, never to me Bob. Always loved "Betcha By Golly Wow" "Point Of No Return" "Only For The Children" etc. Taste is a funny old thing though isn't it. Certainly on this side of the pond they were seen as a bit too 'sugary' by the Soul fraternity but sold in the skip load to the Pop buying public. Sean
  14. Agree Paul. Great little tune. Hugely indemand in its day too. Always thought they had a sound more reminiscent of the 'Stairsteps' rather than the 'Jacksons'... ...and absolutely nothing like the Stylistics to these ears. Just no acounting for taste is there
  15. Knew a Paddy & Liz who lived in Sheffield, early 80's... and pretty sure she was a Nurse! A Physcie Nurse? (No... I wasn't a patient). Same P & L?
  16. Is "How Could I Lose You" getting plays again Chris? Or something else off the lp? Sean
  17. Shocked! Still always was a practical lad, Adrian. Couldn't really see him in my wheels.
  18. Good job that only you and me realize that you haven't got a clue about what you're talking about Beeks! Sean
  19. But where did all those people go.... after 1984... Steve? Are we still waiting for them to return - or did they never really exist? Sometimes I think everyone else was a figment of our imagination - a mirage - a hallucination. Then I think of Crofty... sat on the door in his big cardy or his damart... and it all comes flooding back!
