Darryl, Have you any idea of what became of Debbie Taylor? She is one of my favourite Female vocalists. Would love to know what became of her - where she is now! Also, do you recall what sessions you were at with Debbie? was this in 1969? I guess this must have been the GWP stuff "Never Gonna Let Him Know" etc. Written by Ray D & Billy T and produced by George! We're very familiar with George Kerr and his work with the O'Jays, Moments, Chi-Lites, Main Ingredient etc... but would love to know more! Thanks again for visiting. Great stuff Sean

Fame / Goldwax Completist, Kevin Briscoe, played "Lets Talk It Over" immediately it came out on the Jap CD - prior to Brian Rae etc. and well before the various Boots and Acetates emerged. Agree with Brother Rounce. Technically all releases of this are illegitimate at this moment in time, because of the licensing anomaly. Bravo to Kent though should it eventually come out! Worth noting that it was actually recorded at Fame, as were many Goldwax 'recordings (they had no studio of their own). I visited Fame Studios (East Avalon Ave) & Muscle Shoals Sound (3614 Jackson Highway) last year (hence my Avatar). Heard a lot of mindblowing tales. Its a truly magical place. They recently sent me the Jimmy Hughes 'Best Of' compilation. It's mouth watering to consider what else might come through, now they've started to dig into the back catalogue. Personal fave Spencer 45 is the Sound Of Memphis coupling of "I Can't Be Satisfied" b/w "Take Time To Love Your Woman" which I used to hammer, way back at Cleggy. All incredible tunes from an outstanding vocalist (up there with Carr & Pickett IMO), but agree, Gareth, the Arthur Conley "I Can't Stop" (Aint That Peculiar soundalike) is a cracker. A Fame Thread would be a winner mate. Sean

Agree Steve, we always recognised em as having been Mecca spins, but worth mentioning that most of those tunes that made it REALLY BIG years later on the Nighter scene were 'a hand full o' spins' 45's as I recall when they were new. Ujima, Brothers Guiding Light, Eddie Billups etc. were never big until we got hold of 'em... Until then they were very much 'hardly knowns' on the 'Northern' Allnighter scene and would have been completely forgotten - and never have reached 'cult status' - even yet - had it not been for Clifton Hall, Cleggy, Bradford etc..... and the DJ's that got behind them. I too have the complete set of Soul Sounds. Round Robin is Green, as I'm sure you know. Never seen a White Round Robin... or a Soul Sounds DEMO for that matter. Does it say DEMO on the label? Does it have the same Matrix as the Green copy? Is it perhaps a Test Pressing? (i.e. unprinted with info in pen/ink?) Cheers Sean

The early days of eBay... A Stone Mint copy of Robbie Lawson - listed as "I Have Searched" on Kyser - a $10.00 Buy It Now.... takes a bit of beating if you like that kinda thing.... but there've been many, many, happy finds. Sean

Big Cleethorpes spin for me, early 80's, after being given a copy by Mary Chapman. Lovely little tune which definitely has the potential for a revival. Sean

I DJ'd here the first couple (1, 2 or 3?) before I had to call it a day for a while. The continuous weekends were killing me I guess the others DJ'ing on the night were the usual suspects of the time (Croft, Harden, Brady, Mannion?) but I'd be intrigued as to who else was on the bill with me on the first few. Can't help thinking Guy H. followed me on cos I remember talking to him about a Syl Johnson track I'd just played. Funny how small things stick all these years later - yet nowadays I can't remember what I've had for me tea! Anyone got any early publicity leaflets (or adverts) with the lineup on? Sean
