The scene is broad, alldayers last for many hours, time aplenty to keep everyone happy.

A great record is a great record, blue eyed or Chicago ghetto. Northern soul is not just rare black soul.

That point I agree with. Weekenders are a social event for soul lovers and certainly have a different feel to an All nighter but again horses for courses with the age and social interests of many on the scene they are perfect.each to their own.

The saltiness and bitterness by some on here to the present day scene is both sad and frankly wrong. Perfectly put sir.its an evolved culture nothing ever stays the same don't let the memories of your youth be the heavy chains of your present. The past is just that enjoy your now wether you attend or listen in your home the music is still the same from back in the day everyone is just older and who knows maybe even wiser.

I'm a soul boy or rather northern soul boy but to dismiss the beatles and the musical influence of Lennon and co is slightly sad.

Plenty of rare soul plenty top 500 many not truly soul but who cares music is to be enjoyed not put into boxes.i understand the point but a lot of people love soul because of the northern scene not inspite of it

You say soul music has been badly served by the scene. Well having just attended the oddfellows alldayer with hundreds of others all I saw was joy.joy in soul music joy in a shared experience joy in a damm good day with hundreds of sweaty happy people. Is not soul music about joy.

Poor old Frankie Wilson once his record became "famous " it was quickly seen as taboo to play it anywhere how northern soul like is that we are a strange lot.😎

Forget age enjoy life. Dance and drink and love our scene till your last breath.
