No, no and no. Its my escape for the duration and my memories are in my mind , don't need video taping.

Nine Soul events in a ten mile radius?
I'm all for hearing rare and under played in a mix with more well known tunes , are you implying a set playing all neverplayed and underplayed would have people breaking the doors down to get in, i need to be convinced of that.

OVO
Ovo, personally for me its about the music but i fully understand the desire for ovo at major events etc. It's a dangerous watering down of the scene to ignore ovo as being part of a scene that has seen enough changes, some good some not so good.

How many events?
Definitely see you. 25+ of us booked up.

How many events?
I agree with what you say chalky but I'm convinced the cream will rise to the top and others will wither on the vine. So many events is not great for the scene but surely better than having no choice.

How many events?
I got to be honest babyboy i don't see the problem. I might not agree with the views of some on here, but they have a superb knowledge of the scene, so if they can't see an oddfellows all dayer and a st Ives weekender against a two bob event at a local church hall then what can you say.

Geri Granger I go to pieces
Actually there and on the floor to that great record.

northern soul - the current state...?
Influenced my kids to follow our local football club thats a birth rite but loving a choice of music is much more complicated. Wouldn't have a problem if they had chosen n/s though better environment at most events compared to your average city centre pub/club.

Oh yea,too many djs,too many boots, too many dos,too many old people, too many top 500,too many weekenders and my own special favourite yea its people in the wrong type of trousers and shoes. Sorry forgot the talc hatred.have a soulful weekend everyone and maybe just enjoy the best music of any sub culture anywhere.

The Blackpool tower weekend has screens showing both decks with the records next to be played.

Totally agree with most of what you say zed. I would never want our scene to be mass market appeal but i don't see why we should hide it either. Its hard to know if you like the chocolates in a box if you cant get in it.

northern soul - the current state...?
Yes the age thing again. Ok you want youngsters coming we all do other wise the scene dies but most of the people who moan about the lack of young blood are the very same who want the scene less mainstream and more underground, you can't have it always.

Djs ranging from the young guns jordan Wilson, dave stabler and other excellent younghearts to top notch hitsville chalkie and dean carr amongst others.great people, great dancefloor ,no knobheads no fancy dress just soulies having fun ,the venues are there.

Same as any type of entertainment you pay your money and if you don't think you have value for money you dont return. Cream rises to the top and non value events will soon be found out and wither on the vine.

Jimmy James - A Man Like Me
Agree to most of what you say but really can't say its over played, probably hear it less than one in four dos i go to. All for rare and top 500 balance. To be fair at a lot of dos now a good deal of records are almost seen as taboo and are never played.

Jimmy James - A Man Like Me
A somewhat strange statement to say the scene is in a sorry state today for playing records that were part of the scene back in the day,I'm confused.
