  1. Been working on a site , 16 houses , the other weekend one lad buggered off to Ibiza to a rave ( like you do when there’s a virus pandemic) came back with covid , 2 weeks isolation for him and his co worker , site had to shut for 2 days (25 men lost time ) also the houses they were going to build , they no longer are going to as they’re not wanted back . Which I’m ok about ( we were away for the week when this happened by the way ) . My question is this , although I see why they aren’t wanted back , I also see that they Had the sense and informed the site manager they may think twice about going clubbing or maybe god forbid , think twice about admitting it ( that they’ve caught the virus) and lose another job . I’m amazed they could attend a rave but then again it was probably illegal. I reckon big sentences for organisers is going to have to happen.
  2. “I’ll be gone “ Never ever tired of it after 25 year . Quality
  3. Well said , I remarked on the young lad from Nottinghams’ mentor being a credit to the young generation and was given a thumbs down or whatever ffs . So I thought then that’s me done , until I just saw your comment Karl . But I’m not signing in again . Ta ra.
  4. Good luck to the lad , I also think his mentor/guide was a credit to himself and his generation.
  5. I’m afraid you’re going to be correct sir .
  6. People should be very cautious about there being a second wave of the virus, as gloomy as this may sound , and I hate looking on the bad side but this is some serious situation if it happens.
  7. Although I never knew Pete and you I send you condolences for your loss, I always read your posts with interest , hope you find peace and comfort from the posts on here . Andrew
  8. Of course they have to ensure the safety etc of the half built projects etc , I’m more thinking that a lot of the companies wouldn’t be there to scale the work down and would carry on until told otherwise and possibly take the construction to further stage where it could be even harder to make safe . I jacked site work in yonks since as there’s no loyalty by the companies for the men hence one of the reasons why there is a severe shortage of tradesmen but that’s another issue.
  9. Tell you what though, it’ll be interesting what the drug dealers are going to do if total lockdown comes . Mind you they will probably get some concessions lol
  10. Yes it’s bloody crazy .
  11. You wouldn’t get me on a site , nigh on impossible to social distance and the site cabins should be locked and the lads should sit in their vans at tea breaks , personally I think sites should be shut as hard as it sounds.
  12. What’s a bit confusing is the “essential “now I have a scaffold up on a house with a leaking roof , to me it’s essential and my sons can do the work in less than a day , we have another one re-slated and just the ridges to bed on , pretty essential to keep it watertight, it seems a bit vague to me . I don’t want anyone to think I don’t care , quite the opposite and if there was going to be a 6 month drought I wouldn’t go anywhere near .Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  13. A local restaurant was doing take away all weekend, it’s a 30 seat restaurant, he had 20 people stood inside and a crowd of 20 outside. Boris bring lockdown ASAP as clearly our education system ha also failed .
  14. Like I said right at the beginning.
  15. Hi , you don’t have to reach the turnover threshold to be vat registered, but as you say , once you hit that legally you have to register, but you can volunteer to go vat registered on any turnover if it’s viable .The seller could be in a bit of trouble if he shouldn’t have charged him the vat as the inspector will be on the alert and will have to investigate in case of any mistakes or wrongdoing intentionally or not . I don’t know where he’d stand regarding a refund as if customs and excise have received the money when they shouldn’t have they are obliged to refund it , we’ve never had a problem with a refund from them , but outside the eu ? I don’t know .
  16. Well they definitely shouldn’t have charged you it if the country is exempt and if they’ve forwarded the vat to custom and excise then you should get a refund, I’d get in touch with customs and excise if you don’t get any joy of the traders , good luck .
  17. Nah , you can’t be vat Registered in the uk and just knock the vat off , they must have given you some discount but you can’t just knock vat off , unless there is some special exemption with the country you’re in . Which I doubt , but maybe there is .
  18. You can’t claim vat back on a record, unless you were a record dealer buying from another record dealer and both of them vat registered . I would have thought.
  19. Awesome track memories of pitches ( for me )
  20. Gonna take my heart....... super soul
  21. Jan barker put me onto this when the album came out , never tire of it , the whole album is terrific as of a couple more tracks been posted from it earlier by someone.
  22. When you put it like that , so true .
  23. Spot on .
  24. I know a lot of people who’ve ‘forgotten’ they didn’t go anywhere on the scene for 20-30 years.
