These 4 tracks were recorded in 1975 for the never released second LP from the Hearts of Stone and are possibly the best funk & soul tracks ever recorded in Quebec. On the first single (RK45 018) 'K Gee', a storming funk cover from the Nite Liters, on the flip side crossover soul beauty 'It Only Takes A Minute Girl'. Soulful Torino Records a new imprint created by Torino rare groove dj crew and Record kicks join their forces to reissue the giant latin soul hit "I Wanna chance for romance" by latin legend Hector Rivera. The track was originally recorded back in 1967 and it's probably the most infectious latin soul monster ever recorded. The keyboardist, arranger and composer Hector Rivera like the more famed Pucho & the Latin Soul Brothers, Ray Barretto and Joe Bataan, was one of the most renowned performers of the Latin BOOGALOO era. His biggest hit was "At the party" which became very popular at the end of the 60s. "I Want chance for romance" was released in the same period and has been a massive spin on all soul, mod and deep funk dancefloors for over 30 years. On the B side, for the first time on 7", the groovy instrumental version. USE IT! BEFORE YOU LOOSE IT! Available now at www.recordkicks.com or from 16 October all around info@recordkicks.com

RK 45 OO2 - out now! A) SMOOVE "Big balls" Listen here: https://www.recordkicks.com/samples/SMOOVE.mp3 Speedometer "Power generation" Listen here: https://www.recordkicks.com/samples/Speedometer.mp3 (click on titles to listen) Second release for Record Kicks 45, the new 7" collection made up for clubs and dedicated to the best of contemporary funk, soul and dance-floor jazz music. This release features 2 more young bands of promise in the contemporary funk & soul scene, Smoove and Speedometer. Smoove are Sir Eddie Piller's last discovery as far as coolness is concerned. Anticipated by the success of the single "Revolution will be televised", their debut album "Dead Man Shirt", which was just released on Acid Jazz Records, was much praised by the critics. "Big Balls", a groovy dance-floor jazz instrumental track, is an out-and-out irresistible driving force that absolutely validates all the positive reviews on this London based one-man band. Speedometer have been competing with Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings for the sceptre of best performing funk band for a long time. The band formed in 99 and had the pleasure of working with real myths such as Eddie Bo, Marva Whitney and Lee Fields. Those lucky enough to see them live during one of the countless performances at Camden's Jazz Caf know what we're talking about. "Power Generation" is the last single taken from their second album "This is Speedometer vol.2", released by Blow It Hard Records. With gigs in Japan, Speedometer are now definitely one of the funk scene's best bands worldwide! Damn hot dancefloor funk! VERY LIMITED EDITION HURRY UP! With two heavyweights of the contemporary soul-mod scene, such as Frank Popp Ensemble and Big Boss Man, its first release will come with a tremendous blast! The Frank Popp Ensemble is featured on Side A with "Leave me alone", the R&B / northern soul stomper directly taken from their newest album "Touch and go" (Unique Records). Able to set any dance floor on fire "Leave me alone" is a strong candidate to succeed to "Hip Teens (Don't wea r blue jeans)", the track thanks to which the D¼sseldorf based Ensemble, ably lead by DJ and 7'' collector Frank Popp, climbed half of the world's charts. The Frank Popp Ensemble has been skilfully matched with London's Big Boss Man, an absolute cult band in the international mod scene. The groovy dancefloor jazz track "The Hawk" is an excerpt of their new album "Winner", which has just been released by Blow Up Records. Big Boss Man, who formed at the end of the 90s, boast fans such as big shots Thievery Corporation and Paul Weller, for whom they have remixed the single "The Bottle". The band is strongly bonded to the renowned Blow Up, where they got their first gig in 1999 when it was situated at the legendary "Wag club". Blow Up Records released also Big Boss Man's first album "Humanize", which was much acclaimed by the world's specialized press. Essential to every funk, soul and rare groove DJ!
