  6. Glad you kept it short and sweet Ian.
  7. Thanks Dave, nice to have some back ground on the people behind the song, specially when it's 1 of my all time favourite's and always gets me jigging about. Spot.
  8. Yeh, not as good as Kentucky Fried ones Joan, at least that tasted alright but Shredded Wheat ffs only keeps you regular plus they obviously make the top of your head cold, so get a nice Titfa why don't ya. Wonder if Andrex will do one for all the ar*eholes of Soul, bloody hell that could be a band. Spot.

Cheers Steve and look at all that HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. As B A Robertson said,"Love & Peace Man". Being serious for a moment I'd love all this unwarranted carnage & death to stop around the world, together with the abuse of the innocent, I know it won't happen but what a New Years gift that would be, also I'd love not to lose anymore friends or Family because it seems that's all we do each year when we hit 40'ish, just one year pain free would be gratefully accepted. Spot.
  11. All I'll say is; Gary Lewis & Playboys and Cherry People. If we're talking about all music being various levels of good. Spot.
  12. Brian I'm with you on Stanky but Bob Sinclair & also Kirk Franklin now that's not bad at all, tolerance in all things & Merry Xmas plus all the best for 2015. Spot.
  13. I'm afraid to say most Soulies don't either & most tunes don't have an enchanting back story. Spot.
  14. Bloody Hell Martyn that's another you've put on that I like!!!!!! It's gotta stop!!!
  15. Agree with Dave, a night to remember & a privilege to attend and listen.
  16. A lovely smiley woman as I remember, as Kev says she was at Motown Museum as a guide when we visit in 2009, she and Lorraine Chandler showed us around giving us all a glimpse into the world of how Motown worked, laughing when she showed us the small bright Tangerine Orange vinyl sofa where the Great Mr Gaye slept after boxing records through the night for distribution the next day and how he lay in the funeral parlour next door after his death and that everyone in between takes would slip out to pay their respects. I also remember that they all (Motown artists etc) at The Memphis Smoke Diner after, it was her Birthday & the crowd sang "Happy Birthday" to her, together with Mel Britt singing along with "She'll come running back" & the Capitols after much persuasion sing "Cool Jerk" acapella along with an excited & appreciative crowd of Brit's etc sang along. Memories hey & the pulled Pork wasn't bad either. Spot.
  17. Bloody hell that brings back memories, was only trying the other day who sang it. Spot.
  18. Geese we've (Gail & I) have always been of the same opinion but in reality there aren't enough who think the same, Lifeline etc are lucky if they attract 250, back in the early Cleethorpes era when, God forbid, new releases were played it was sacrilege and we were called Disco Bunny's or Queens. There definitely aren't enough younger people on the scene and those who are, tend to be following their parents etc and are into Oldies (Which of course they aren't to them) and want to dress as if it was 1973 and for some it's just a passing faze. I'm afraid this debate will run on and on and on. Gail and i recently read a Blues & Soul from 73/74 in which she was interviewed and said, "We need to stop playing all these Oldies and move the music forward", she also mention the Older Soulies, who at that time would have been no more than 5 or 6 years older than us, as was the music they were playing, unlike today when the age gap is 30 yrs + and the music 40 yrs old, so it's a never ending circle. Spot.
  19. Seems we've been down this road numerous times before, why not try an original idea and use your imagination, isn't that what fiction writers do? If however you want to write a factual based story then I'm sure there's plenty of the Old Guard would be willing to help with research but not real names and I doubt it would get past the Censor or anyone would actually believe it, because I'm sure I wouldn't and I/we were there and it now seems somewhat dream like!!!!!!!!!!! Spot.
  20. 2 Top tunes, Larry Laster was a Monster tune and I can't choose between that and Ty Karim. Spot. Another excellent track and a more recent one to my ear, sounds better now Patto because we've slowed down a tad but the A sides a Classic we were all spoon fed and it was so sweet. Kev I like that, sounds like a lot of stuff from that era but it brings out the Disco side of me and the productions always A ok. Spot. Spot.
  21. Excellent tune Martyn & it reminds me of some venue, the only trouble is at my age I can't remember which bloody venue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Spot.
  22. Didn't know Tony well but talked when he went to Rugby & I think Gail & Donna use to keep him entertained with their double act, he was a nice guy from what I knew & saw and a big part of the scene, RIP Tony. Spot & Gail.
