Hey Barney as you know Gail & I do Oldies,Rare,Underplayed, Modern & most other types of music on our scene & we understand that some people don't like all types of Soul but what I think a lot of people get a little tired of is the same couple of hundred (If that) Oldies that are played non-stop when there are thousands that could be played & aren't, when we came back full time & I heard some of the tunes I didn't know & had missed in years past I was like a kid in a Candy Shop & thoroughly enjoyed finding out what they were etc & as Tomangoes says, "Get em on a cd in the car & they'll become familiar", then you'll soon be singing along, just ask Yocky & Nell, they were the same till I did em a couple of cd's each but at the end of the day you like what you like & why not, it wouldn't do for us all to be the same or have the same taste, what a boring world that would be. Take care, be safe & remember,"What you like, is what you like", Spot.

Rob I take it you meant singing in Doncaster, cos there's enough sinners there already without them lot joining in!!! Take care, be safe & remember, "Small but intimate can never be wrong", Spot.

Swish just noticed your reading this thread so thought I'd say "HELLO", the last time Gail & I saw you was at John Watkinson's & Karen's wedding when You & Eric Smith spent the weekend with us in Goole, we've always tried to keep up with how you were doing & it's good to know your ok. Were still out & about & regularly see Snowy, Jonesy, Cairnsy,Ronnie P, Chris Holmes & a lot of the York crew as well as most of the reprobates who've replied on here. So you take care,be safe & remember,"Tomorrow's just another day", Spot (Pete) & Gail.

Well seems my name has been taken in vein, so here's my right to reply & before you say owt I know it's not specifically aimed at me; I don't think anyone was particularly having a go at the, "Been there done that" people, I being one of them & I don't think anyone had owt to prove, although some of us had proved it long before others had even thought of trying to prove it but that's just the curse of age. I'm lucky to be retired so can spend all Sunday etc in bed & having no kids & not answering the door to anyone also helps, as for the long break well the scene split for a while, I ended up in Hospital due to certain elements of it & then worked away for a substancial number of years which made it impossible to carry on, I never lost the love of the music & think I only missed Stafford, which IMVHO was pretty poor anyway musically on the whole & Thorne at the time which would have been too Modern I think, otherwise I'd have still been going but most likely skint or dead or both?? As for not playing different type's of music, well I'm no expert but I'm sure it's different at Burnley & Willington & to some extent Middleton & Lifeline but what do I know I only get out & about at least once a week, not once a flood!!!! Most people as you say have nothing to prove to anybody & it's nothing to do with anybody else but if that's the case then surely there's no need at all to come on here & appear to justify their existence or lack of it?? Take care,be safe & remember,"Nobody, specially me,gives a Sh*t", Spot.

No wonder your on the second wife & she don't like you going off Souling & Scootering if your spending all your money on Viny!!!!! Take care,be safe & remember,"KTF but also a tenner for petrol, just in case", Spot.

Sorry Beeks but I think your totally wrong, this scene has a fair few record thiefs I'm afraid & most Soulies know who they are but can't prove it, I myself have had 3 or 4 pointed out to me & have seen people ejected from venues immediately upon entering for being known for nicking records, also ask Dolly who had about 6 nicked from her box at 1st Blackpool Tower or Pete French who had 4 tasty numbers nicked at Middleton, to name but 2. Remember all Soulies are not good Soulies some are arseSoulies & would have your filling's out of your teeth given the chance, we're just lucky it's a small minority. Also I don't think any NS Dj is daft enough to leave a record box temptingly in full view & would have at least put it in the boot out of sight. Kev & Sam I truly hope you catch the culprit/s & if you do & they are off our scene then don't have them banned from venues, just make sure that everyone they EVER attend they get a bloody good beating & the weeks they miss just call on them for a friendly chat with a couple of mates. This is probably the most despicable & cruel thing you could do to a collector & I hope you rot in hell or conract some heinous disease if you happen to be reading this, you thieving Toad. Phew, that's better. Take care,be safe & remember," One day the truth will out, then your in trouble", Spot.

The one at Berkeley Powerstation did for me also, great venue, travelled 240 miles to friends, then back over an hour to attend with the same friends, only to be greeted by a maximum 35 people in attendance, the people of Somerset, Gloucestershire & Wiltshire have lost a good night, you should hang your heads in shame, I was gutted for Dave & Malayka. Simon is that you in the video clip with a Bob Marley wig on? Nice moves though, also I told you that piccie was frightening mate but I never let on about the serial killing's, Honest!! As for nighters, Gail & I go to most, even the odd Oldies one but when we go there we know what to expect, as for the others, well it's different music from the Soul night scene (Mainly) & people don't like what they don't know. I understand the family reason & work commitment reason & if I was in the same boat I'd stay away but I'm luck enough to have retired at 50 plus I don't mind the travelling & most things are within 2 hours of home & as my Dad use to say, "Your a long time dead son, enjoy every day to it's limit" & he did & he is, for 13 long years, so we intend to do the same. Anyway I don't particularly want all these "Keyboard Terrorist" at Nighters, means less room for this old man to dance about & wander the halls, they'd only moan their tit's off anyway, same as on here, so we're glad your bored with it & that you've been there done that, got the T-shirt, thank you for staying at home. Take care,be safe & remember, "You can't stop the music, nobody can stop the music", Spot.

Knew this would start a whoop arse storm, so here goes; Bloody hell Paul Degrading must have been a regular, didn't he say "Justin Winstanley"? Well he was just in his same 1973 Polo shirt & Farah slacks with the waist let out & apiece inserted, no doubt. Thanks to the 3 Amigo's & Pan's People of Soul you can expect a similar rush as back in 74-75 & look what that did?? We only went for the Music, yeh, my arse!!!!! Northern Soul dance lessons & high kick, "If I did that my kidney would fall out", well here's hoping Paul!! What an advert for our scene, a good 20 minutes of piss taking by a Scouser, well I can get that at any venue & I don't have to pay a license fee for it.There will be another 1000+ people you know who suddenly spent their youth at the Casino but never actually went. MY GOD I'll have to hang my head in shame & hide my face, venturing out only under the cover of darkness. "GET THEE BEHIND ME SATAN" or as Nan on Catherine Tate would say, "WHAT A F***KING LIBERTY". Take care,be safe & remember,"We all get 15 minutes of fame", Spot.
