  1. Well said that man, Len. I was at Radders & Nige Brown played Fred Hughes - I keep trying, inspired I thought & rarely heard (No doubbt someone will come on & say they hear it played out regularly) & Andy Dyson use to slip in Gwen & Rae btw the Tams is a fabulous tune & had it not been a chart topper you'd hear it out everywhere, I love it & as soon as I hit the link my feet where tapping, I was singing & was 17 again. Spot.
  2. Found mine in the loft after a long while away & gave it to Snowy as a prezzie, I didn't need it anymore & even though an excellent one it was still a boot. Spot.
  3. Seems it wasn't open when Mr Winstanley did his bit in September & the dancefloor was a clip together affair in the main Tent/Foyer thing, someone I know complained as it was a tad dangerous (Uneven) & was told by Mr W "Tough". So I'd check with Butlins direct to be 100%. Spot.
  4. Yep very true, had this happen when I purchased a tune for a friend only to be told he'd accepted £30 more from somebody else after agreeing price, I managed to get my mate one for £30 less than he actually wanted, so all's well etc. They did this with houses in the 80's, Gazumping, that was frowned upon also. Spot.
  5. Brian after putting up message click edit & the will appear, it's been like this a while. And whilst I'm here a very Merry Xmas & a Wonderful New Year to one & all from Gail & I. Spot.

Saw Eric at Radcliffe Nighter when Bunny Sigler was on in November, Said he'd been going out with Matchey but onlyto Soul Nights & he decided Nighters are still for him, I'm afraid I didn't recognize him at first (We still think everyone should look like they're 20 still), he thought Gail was her Sister Lindsey & reminded her he had a picture of Lindsey, him & a monkey at Scarborough, strange what memories we hold, anyway was nice to see him again, last time was John (Wocko) & Karen Watkinsons wedding 30 years ago.
  7. Just sat in bed at 8am watching Football Highlights on the Red Button & a piece about a Leeds player coming out when I suddenly realised I was listening to Ordinary Joe as the background music, what next Rita DeCosta playing in Lifts? Spot. p.s. Merry Xmas to everyone, even those who dislike me, keep smiling.
  8. Carl i actually think it will sound better with the great burn/melt mark through it.
  9. You mean like Wayne Rooney?
  10. Bloody Hell Tezza that's a bit poetic for you mate. Spot.
  11. Now that is a tune. Spot.
  12. He discovered the Wogan/Scargill hair style & most definitely did NOT discove FW, Bloody hell he wanted to play all Soussan's & Pye's crap. Spot.
  13. Buggar me it's not repeating as it usually does, sorry folks, hope it comes around again, keep an eye out. Spot.
  14. That explains a lot Frank & why you disappeared for so long,it's marvelous what electro shock treatment can do now a days, keep taking the tablets & Merry Xmas, I'm just off to find the Ghost of Christmas Soul Future, pray for me. Spot.
  15. It will, believe me it will. Spot.
  16. Just sat watching tcm hd on sky,all the motown artists on the ed sullivan show & repeated tonight at 7pm.That's why I love the music & what set me on the road to Wigan Spot.
  17. Mark that says it all, we're regressing not progressing, lets face it even the R&B's going backwards to Rockabilly or Swing. As for the original question on NS future, as Private Frazer said regularly in Dad's Army, "We're Doomed", once the novelties worn off & us old farts as swept away into Nursing Homes to recant a never ending story of how we invented NS & kept it's flame burning, then there won't be enough youth to fill a Double Garage in Dudley to keep it alive,IMHO. Spot.
  18. And don't forget Barney we should all open our ears to the newer sounds around, yes those after December 31st 1969 & embrace them wholeheartedly, so come on & take a ride in George's Supership, have a great Xmas Brian btw Your dream of utopia will never happen whilst the old guard & purists are still around. Spot.
  19. Len, Sorry can't agree with the great attitude bit, attitude, yes, I spoke to him outside & was more or less dismissed, Gail also spoke to him & got the same reaction. This from a child who wants to be a retro Mod & wear clothes from the 60's to be individual, like all the rest & who look at us old farts as if they invented the scene. I've listened to the music on here & what a sack of sh*t it is, it's swing or something from the 40's or 50's & wasn't Sylvia Sims in the bloody carry on films . The reason it's underplayed or not played out is because it's crap, irrelevant & doesn't fit into or ever will be part of the Soul scene. We might be old but we by no means deaf & Bazza I thought you had better taste than that. Please all returnee's & Mod's keep going to Oldies venues & R&B venues so I can carry on enjoying the real scene unhindered, goodnight & nail my coffin lid down when you leave. Spot. p.s. I know someone will say there's some R&B you like & yes there are but they are exceptions & not the rule & I pray long & hard after I stop dancing or tapping my feet that the Devil has left my Soul. I also noticed someone on here saying some replies were disrespectful, well it works both ways, with people calling you Grandad or implying your an old fart (Which of course I am) and there's nothing more disrespectful than a Young DJ being asked to do a spot & as soon as he's done then him & his crew vanish into the night & whilst there his crew spend all night starry eyed stuck to their mobiles & yes I'm speaking from experience. And don't even get me started on travelling to venues & attending somewhere weekly.

    Nita your never shy?
  21. Andy I'm impressed, Marie Knight & Superiors, 2 great oldies rarely heard out. Spot.
  22. Keep on Marchin, that's the best track & very danceable. Spot.
  23. Hey up Bazza gud to see you posting again, still out & about throwing some shapes I hope. This is very E. Rodney Jones & I love his stuff also, as Shorny said earlier in the thread, "The Sax is the voice". Spot.
  24. Hey Phil how are you, good I hope. I'm in total agreement, Instrumentals were massive back in the day, Mike Post - Afternoon, was hugh & rammed the dancefloor. I still love em but it wasn't about being Soulful, it was the dance beat & the handclapping that brought them alive. I understand what Bearsy means, I dislike R&B but there's exceptions to this rule. I still love to hear Mike & Ike - Sax on the trax, Mike Post - Bubblegum & Total Eclipse - 6 O'Clock plus Afternoon still raises the hairs on my neck. I must say that Sam's new "Prove yourself a lady" although not bad isn't a patch on the vocal & sounds great when sang along with your own wording in your head. The problem was that the infamous Simon tried turning everything into an instrumental,as did others & it basically killed it. We all loved & danced to a lot of stuff we're reluctant to admit to nowadays. Spot.
  25. Just spotted a copy of Ivories - Please stay - Wand at about $2000 on e-bay, nice & not many of them about. Spot.
