Phil last one on Popsike in August 13 went for £29
-
I remember it well Ian, Gail & I were on about a while ago & if I'm not mistaken Mary kept it secret until the curtains opened & everyone thought wtf until they realised what was happening. I see Barney's still got his Soul tolerance hat on. Spot.

Philly it's £9 on Amazon, just spotted it being sold on E-Bay for £112.

Anyone who hasn't had a humour bypass can see that was tongue in cheek, as we all know Ian isn't well, it was just to show how inconsequential the mis-spelling was. Spot

I'm one of worst critics of NS Films but last night at York's Reel a full house watched a film that was as close to the reality of 74/75 as your ever likely to get without the Censor doing one, it brought back so many Deja Vu memories, like searching the local shops for Lp's & 45's, going to the Youth Club & waiting till last couple of records to play my Northern till it finally took off, waiting for list to arrive in the post from Soul Bowl and all that naughty stuff they did, I did expect to see a Chemist getting screwed to tie it all together & I almost clapped when the Dancefloor did but I'm too cool for that now.Couple of minor things I caught, Salvadores first played on Green Wiseworld then later on Blue Bootleg & lad walked in Pub with record box but empty handed when he left, loved the fact that John gave Matt The Ivories on Wand for nothing & as Keith says if he'd have collapsed in Wigan toilets he'd have drowned as it was always 4 inches deep in pee & water, also I'm not sure "I'm Gone" or the Crow was played in 74 either but these are minor glitches that didn't detract. Someone on here mentioned how friendly folk were, well I remember some very nasty people & everyone knew a Shaun & his mates plus how many fights did you have going to Wigan? Not in the middle of nowhere but we regularly fought our way out of Wigan Station!!!! Well done Elaine & Co, I'm impressed & take my hat off to you, thanks for recapturing my Youth for me on film, I hope it sets you on the path you search for in your work but mainly I hope you make a shed load of money first. Take care, be safe & remember,"The night you left me, all I did was cry, all I have is these Souvenirs, since you said goodbye", Spot.

Servicemen, Ivorys, Topics, Fiestas, Tan Geers, Gil Blanding, Sid Barnes

Bloody Hell Dave I bet no one wants it then as it's a 4th release, not worth having if it's not 1st issue. Spot. p.s. I thought Ted meant different labels not pressings, i.e. Local to National. -

Ted 3rd release? Don't think so really do you? The reason people get the vapours is the fact that very very few are known, less than half a dozen, surely that makes them special, I also got the vapours when I saw an issue of Earl Jackson & The Yum Yum's. Spot. -

It is but it's on Red Bird not Blue Cat, plus I think they're boots as a Red Bird copy is costly and not $10 or so, even a Blue Cat one is 100's, if you look there's loads of Red Bird copies. Spot. -

Well done Steve for spotting the deliberate mistake , seriously I do remember something at Blackburn but this Old Man's memories fading and all large Dance Hall's look the same to me now and I never knew Dance Club's were started, is that like Working Men's Club's but for the under 25's , why only London and Bolton but nothing in between? I know Mr Sadots on You Tube telling them how to be passionate when dancing, afraid you can't be taught it Paul. Made me laugh that the "Older" extras were used around the edge, that will be because the middle was too far to walk and nowhere to hide your Zimmer . I'm surprised there was so many youngsters because I've yet to see more than a dozen or so at any Nighter and we attend one every week if possible. Keep on dancing till you can't dance no more but don't constantly film yourself doing it , Spot.

Vaguely, very vaguely and I think they were fun.

Caught Elaine & Lisa on Breakfast yesterday and was impressed with Elaine and her portrayal of the scene and it seems. and I hope, it all pans out for her, takes guts to put yourself and your assets on the line and I was even more impressed that she persevered for 10 years to make this film, Lisa came across as a bit slack mouthed and slow though and looked daft in that hat but she can't be that daft she's a million £ or so in front of me in the bank , just watched the vid on here, where did they get all them youngster from? I know there's a few on the scene but not a couple of thousand, or was there some strategically placed old wrinklies like myself to pad it out? Inspired using Kings Hall, Stoke it's the closest Venue I've been to that mimics the Casino, from the inside at least. Anyway Good Luck Elaine, this week will show if your stars gonna shine bright and I think it will blaze like a Comet because it's seems finally there's a film that actually show the scene as it was. So Friday it's off to York to watch it and remember just how it was, I feel a dance coming on, now where's me knee brace, ankle brace, fiery jack muscle cream and me anti inflammatory cream, got em, oh bu**ar records finished, next time hey!!!!!!!!! Take care, be safe & remember," Long after tonight is all over, long after tonight is gone, I'll be yours for ever and a day I know", Spot.

Steve that is exactly how Gibby talks, yes all in one breath & many different subjects, it's tiring I know just listening. Spot.

Must be the old Ladies wc with the bowl & cistern removed if you can't get a twin deck in, must be using a Sony Walkman btw as Quinvy said, it's a no to everything but if you decide to proceed how about, Foggy's favourite 45's or Compo's Compilation. Spot.

Woe betide me & Thee then Barney cos I think we're forthright Yorkshire folk, you like your venues & I like mine & occasionally we like each others & are more than willing to say so & as you so eloquently replied when I asked you if you liked the newer rare CD's I did for you,"Rubbish but they'll keep birds off me veggies".pmsl, take care Spot. It's the Magic Roundabout question on SS, it just keeps turning & every so often someone gives it a push. The hype will have vanished in a while & some newbies will cling on & most will fall by the way side when it's not flavour of the month anymore. As for ovo I see it everywhere most omit to say ovo boots or reissues, I noticed the returnees got a mention, well some of us had mortgages etc to pay & most (not all) of the late 80's stuff was utter crap, fit better with "Deliverance" or hillbilly music, so no incentive to return earlier, anyway back on topic, there are venues out there worthy of note,it's just that they're swamped by the Oldies venues, seek & ye shall find.

Frank Wilson "do I...." Legit Test Press Surfaces
spot replied to Derek Pearson's topic in All About the SOUL
Jesus it's like being there in the studio with Frank, almost wet me Tena lady but as Pete said put a smile on me face & a nice glow to my cheeks this Wednesday morning, God Bless ya. Spot. -
What a character, what a loss, as Dave says a true Soulie and we'll miss him so much. First met Les at Middleton he was with Coggy over by the wall in the dark shadows, he could be leary but he was a Gent around women and should have written a book with the stories he had, we spent many a night laughing in his company and I know Coggy will be devastated by his passing. I remember the first time we went back to Jan & Cog's in the morning, I was following on a Dual Carriageway when Cog suddenly pulled up & a nighter bag flew out back door followed by Libby who shot off over a wall and through some trees. Back at Cog's I asked what had he done to get thrown from the car on a busy road, I didn't throw him out Spot, he normally goes that way as it's quicker and he like to borrow a couple of eggs from the Allotments for his breakfast on his way home, as I said a character who'll be truly missed. Spot & Gail.
