  1. Expect a Soul bonanza. Mick Sikora rates Hammie as Top 3 in UK. We are truly privileged to host . Dark and sweaty Old School Venue . Top of the Stairs
  2. Friday Soul Nights Return to Accrington. Our Upstairs Dark and Soulful Venue the nearest thing to those fabled British Legion Soul Nights. Layout of the room is similar. We offer high quality Sound System. No Feedback set at 80db so music is just loud enough with conversations not impeded. No excessive Base F15 sound card equalises output for perfect Soul music. Last Event was a packer. So let's keep it up. Three exciting guests. Ian Hamilton ( Hammie ) Mick Sikora and Clitheroe Soul Club Neil Grainger. Backed up with residents George Falzon Kevin McCaffrey Kenny Parkinson and myself Hutchy. Cheap drinks tea and coffee available and Tap Water is free. Further details to follow.

    Northern Soul Night

Wow, that was something extra special. Not perfect. Only the Sound System acquired that tag. Like any new Venture you find a few flaws. We got to the bottom of them today pist function with all resolved. So let us begin. It was slow to start. With visitors from Aberdeen Glenrothes and Edinburgh others Stockport Darlington and Yorkdhire. Along with many locals from varying parts. A full house by 10 pm. George Falzon set us underway fantastic selection of modern and rarities and current dancefloor hits. Kenny 2 scoops Parkinson completed the opener prior to first Guest from Blackpool Wintergardens Tim Rabjohn. In a quandary with the guests who went where. However Tim asked to go on early due to a family bereavement. His wife kindly allowed Tim to fulfill his booking and we being a friendly Club, acknowledged and Tim soon got a bit of a buzz with nice mix of classics and underplayed with spinkle of modern. Enter Keith Money. 100 Club. Thanks to our other guest John Parker. We finally got Keith to come. Fantastic set. Standing ovation from the crowd now filling up. John Parker never fails. Superb what can be said hasn't been. Think that sums it up. We had to close the music down at 12 so To ensure all our lads got airtime Kenny and Caff Kev McCaffrey doubled decked. Kept the floor busy right to last record. Everyone enjoyed the evening. Music atmosphere. Thank you Hutchy

    Northern Soul Night

Just had Tim message me. I've asked him arrive before 8 pm. As at Accrington Soul Club we don't do repeats. He asked what to play? Classics Rare mix Told him we booked Tim play as You feel. We never tell our DJs what to play. It's up to them. What a night this is going to be. East Lancashire I don't recall has had 3 guests of this calibre.
Been 5 years since I last visited. Was a little quiet at first. Took in upstairs Northern Soul. Which was mainly classic floor fillers with Jim Scrivener playing some belting alternative takes. Broke two headsets apparently. Possibly left channel open after queing in the track. Not been well for two years. Glad to see him back. I went to see Tim Rabjohn? However he was absent JB informed me a family emergency so couldn't attend. Caught up with Brian Witowski. He had me in stitches cracking jokes sharing stories about Bridlington, found out no buses to take you to where you stay . Can't get taxis for love nor money. Why I don't go anymore. We also chatted on 100 Club adventure a proper Soul Man he and his pal the driver lol. Eventually went downstairs caught up with Charlie Smith from Preston City Soul Club and an old mate from Scotland. A lass was doing the set. Didn't know her but music was fine Enjoyment lost when half bottle of Talc was chucked onto the floor. Difficulty breathing so called it. Warning if in a car you need to register or get a fine. I wasn't informed upon arrival and only found out off Brian's friend. So rushed to bar. I won't pay the 100 pound fine if I get one. Busy little Club badges Tee shirts on sale in foyer. For me a little less talc. As it is a health hazard and The Soul is sweeter. Drove back down M55 in tropical thunderstorm guess it was a Roadtrip to remember.

  12. <edit>comments and images regarding other events dropped by site as per terms of use</edit> We simply put on a very good event. Backing the Soul Prople who have helped and stood by us. Pat Billingham is one of such. Suffered Breast Cancer . Thankfully after surgery and Radiotherapy is recovering. Myself I am recovering from a triple Heart Bypass operation. 6 weeks into recovery my fellow DJ Kev The Caff McCaffrey also had same operation to save his life. So both our chosen Charities are for genuine reasons. ️ Honesty prevails.

  17. Wait till he he plays with audio equipment Great evening we will be having. I gather Robbo is somewhat terrified at prospect of visiting Dolly prior too the event. The terror in his eyes at Culceth brilliant.
  18. Today is a very happy Birthday to Godfather of Soul in Accrington Kevin McCaffrey. For those who may have watched various Soul related films. I recall Soulboy. First and Early Wigan Casino Kev was the front of stage dancer. Yes those scenes being taxed in the toilet were true. Though tatey sack lad never outdanced Kev. A true icon of the scene. A true Orginal from Accrington Legion. For you sir Happy Birthday https://youtu.be/JDm_QA4EYQE Hi David Apologies for the delay in getting back to you and a huge thank you for letting us know about your Charity Soul Night – it sounds amazing! I hope all the final preparations are going well? I know you mentioned you were supporting Women’s Breast Cancer Research. You therefore might be interested in signing up for Breast Cancer Now’s £1,000 Challenge. With this challenge, any money you raise would specifically go towards supporting breast cancer research. Supporters fundraising through this challenge can do to however they like, so you could use your Charity Soul Night as your event of choice! You also have plenty of time to reach the £1000 target, you just need to hit it by the end of October and we’ll send you a pin badge as a thank you. If you sign up before the end of the day, I can pop a fundraising pack in the post for you tomorrow so it gets to you in time for the event itself. If you’re interested in signing up for the £1,000 challenge you can sign up via this registration form. If you’d prefer not to take on this challenge, then Id’ recommend you register your fundraising with this link instead. However, it’s worth noting that the £1,000 challenge is the only way we can specifically restrict any money you raise to go towards breast cancer research. Otherwise any money you raise would go towards supporting breast cancer patients, services and research more generally. Once you have registered, we will be able to provide you with your unique reference and the different ways of paying in your fundraising when you’re ready! If it’s easier you can contact our team directly at community@breastcancernow.org or by calling 0207 025 2425. Thank you again for your support! Best wishes Anna Community team

  20. On Saturday 17th at Brooks Club Infant Street Accrington BB5 1DZ We hold a dual Charity Soul Night. First Charity is on behalf of Pat Billingham one of our Team. Pat was struck down by the often deadly Breast Cancer Disease. Result of which her loving devoted husband and Denis Billingham decided to stand down from DJn to care for wonderful Patsy. Both rich in Soul History from back in the day. We fully support Dens decisions and they back our Event. We don't make false statements of it being birthday. Secondly we also hope to raise funding for The British Heart Foundation research. I have recently undergone Triple heart bypass surgery which saved my life. Other members of our Team Kevin McCaffrey also had the operation few years back. Soul folk looking after Soul folk. If you can help us making donation attending. Please come along on Saturday.
  21. Looks like it's going to be our busiest night. Folk travelling from Carlisle and from Preston. Buzzing It's not even my birthday.
