  1. Thanks Nick, I posted a request for help on there last night
  2. This is REALLY nerdy stuff I'm talking about Steve. More to do with British label stuff than discographies or artists, producers, arrangements, etc.
  3. I'm looking for help from Tamla Motown experts regarding first issue label prints for the first 100 British releases on EMI's Tamla Motown series. Can anybody recommend somebody or a 'group'?
  4. Thanks for posting Michael. I knew I was right, but not for that reason.
  5. Still love all of those on my track list, especially Chuck Wright. The flip of which is just as good. I often played both sides out when I got the chance.
  6. Norman was there at the start of the revamped Sink 'Soul Club' but I think he had a falling out with Stan & Patrick over the music policy. Like you said Chris, Norman played across the board stuff during the late 60s and tried to continue that way, which didn't go down well with S&P and the paying customers. That's probably why he didn't appear in the film. Although I thought he did? But it's been so long since I last saw the film I couldn't say for sure. I must take time out to watch it again.
  7. That's Denbo, not Dendo. Dendo was a male Devaronian who served as one of the Alliance to Restore the Republic's most respected intelligence agents during the Galactic Civil War. Norman Killen was one of the DJs, I don't remember the others I'm afraid.
  8. Yes, I did. Not religiously but whenever I could. In the late 60s and as one of the resident DJs when Stan & Patrick started it back up again.
  9. So how come Monkey sounds like a bloke and Slave sounds like a woman? Have you listened to them side by side?
  10. Definitely a crazy price on Slave but it does appear to be quite rare. As for Monkey, still my favourite out of the two.
  11. Yes, I think I did sell my spare copy of Monkey to Killa, now you mention it. As for Slave, I don't need to bag a copy to realise which I prefer, I've already done that via You Tube and hearing you play it out. Remember, it's just my opinion. Je Suis Charlie! What are your views regarding Slave sounding like a female on the You Tube version?
  12. Personally, I think Monkey is far better than Slave, got a more consistent dance beat to it and comes across as a more exciting record. But Slave is definitely the rarer of the two. Funny thing, listening to both side by side on You Tube, Slave sounds like a female artist whilst Monkey is definitely male. Is that because Slave has been speeded up on You Tube?
  13. Looking for a nice condition copy on Giant. Please PM me with condition and price if you have one you'd like to move on.
  14. Still need the following; TMG 520 Jr. Walker and The All Stars - Do The Boomerang / Tune Up TMG 551 The Elgins - Put Yourself In My Place / Darling Baby Must be close to Mint, c/w centres intact. Issues preferred. Please PM me with condition and price. Thanks.
  15. Still Wanted. Please PM me if you can help.
  16. Well, that's one way of looking at it I suppose. My argument is that a record released in THIS country can't be a reissue until it's been released at least once already, in THIS country. As for a British release being a 'reissue' of an American release, surely you can see that a release in this country is a commercial progression of something that is designed to reach as many people as possible, thereby making it a chart hit around the world. Same goes in reverse when a record is released here in the UK first.
  17. That's fair enough. So, it's each to their own then, eh? No need to pass judgement on those that think differently to you.
  18. It's not though. What it is, is that we all now know for sure that where there is one copy on a London issue, there might well be more, and we can all now continue crate digging for other copies, without having to pay £15,000.
  19. Certain 'Teddy Boys', collect records on London, amongst other UK labels, I don't think they consider them 'reissues'. Besides, it's all about having a record on its rarest format. Of all those passing comment on here, I'd have thought you'd be the first to grasp that?
  20. I understand English well enough thank you. What you don't understand is the mentality of collectors, which you're obviously not. The recording is easily available on a US issue like you say but that's not the point. The point is that collectors like to have records in its rarest format, ie a withdrawn UK London issue. I know I do, and I can now keep looking for a second hand copy without paying £15,000 because I know there are copies out there. Let me ask you this; which would you prefer, The Ivories on Wand or The Ivorys on Despenza?
  21. Which is why you just don't get it with this DB London issue and all the excitement surrounding its discovery.
