  1. Hi Paul, I'm back home now. Thanks for reserving the record for me. Please PM me your full postal address so I can send you a cheque. Thanks.
  2. If still available, I'll have; Halos - Just Keep On Loving Me - Congress wd M- £30
  3. Name that tune!!!
  4. True. But I'm NOT looking for opinions, JUST observations.
  5. Hmm? Not sad but whatever, you're entitled to your opinion. Not clever? How so?
  6. Ah, I see what you mean now. Sorry. Enjoy your new baby.
  7. Oh dear!!! But who gives a flying fcuk what other people think eh Pete? Besides, I'm not looking for a poll but (genuine) observations made on interesting Soul related number plates. I thought the N1 TER plate was quite an eye catcher but it also expresses at a glance perhaps what that person is into, which is not sad but expressive, that's all. So, who does it belong to and what other observations have been made?
  8. Ken, what do you mean? Or, are you trying to understand what I mean? I'm confused but that's not difficult for me.
  9. I've seen some nice ones in my time and the reason I thought of this topic is because I saw another one today here in St.Helens on Merseyside, that made me think about making this post. It MAY even belong to somebody on here and it was N1 NITER = NITER. Nice one!!! What are YOUR observations / contributions?
  10. Couldn't post up or PM me a scan of this could you Ezzie? You going to Soul Shack tonight?
  11. Couldn't post up or PM me a scan of this could you Ezzie? You going to Soul Shack tonight?
  12. I'll have the last one thanks. Ooops. I've also PM'd you.
  13. Class. Killing me to remember where I first heard this???
  14. I don't hate it Pete. I'm not going to rush out and buy a copy though. :o) In fact, where in 1978 was this last played? Wigan?
  15. Let's hear it then. Tried Soul Girl and of course Soul Club has now mysteriously gone??? Didn't try Manship though.
  16. Seeya there Mike!!!
  17. Sorry, for some reason I felt it needed a more elaborate explanation. No, I take that back, you wrote; ...He wanted to call himself Fats Domino, only Fats got there first... ...Seriously, that's why he's called Chubby Checker. Someone at Cameo-Parkway thought he sounded and looked a bit like Fats, and anyway it's a catchier name than his real one, Ernie Evans... which is not the same thing at all. Anyhow, I think my explanation sounds better.
  18. ACTUALLY, he was a huge fan of Fats DOMINO so, as a tribute to him, he called himself Chubby (for Fats) CHECKER (for Domino). See what I mean?
  19. Do you know WHY he is called Chubby Checker? Anybody mentioned Tiny Topsy? Or Titch Middler? How about Tall Smalls?
  20. That's probably true Russ but I tend to think that a record that sounds great at home will also sound great played out and loud. But a record that sounds great played out and loud will not necessarily always sound great at home. And at the end of the day, why are you buying records? To be played out or at home? For other people, or for yourself? Another reason why it sounds messy in the cold light of day and better out at an Allnighters might be because of certain other 'outside influences'? Having said all that, like you said, we're all entitled to our own opinions and I admire you for standing up for yours. Your Soul mate Denbo.
  21. Bump
  22. It's just sub standard . . . period!!! Why is it these crappy recordings (IMO) always seem to be the ones that others rave about and fetch hundreds / thousands of pounds? Once again, it's because it's rare . . . period!!! I'm sounding like a broken record now but I can't help it, I have to express myself.
  23. Cheers little-stevie BUT I think I need to explain myself even further (my fault). What I'm after are Mint (or near Mint) Demo 45s, presumably red and white, of these two records on UK Columbia. You'll Never Walk Alone, and Ferry Cross The Mersey. Sorry about that little-stevie, I should have been more specific in the first place. But thanks for the bump!!! Interesting anomoly though.
  24. Thanks, but I should have said an original UK label demo, this one's an EMI reissue demo. Thanks anyway. "Have you tried trawling car boot sales in Norway?" Who is this?
  25. How about Old Age by Louis Jordan on Tangerine. Great record. Flip to What I Say. It's more R&B than Northern Soul but it will at least give your thread a bump!!!
