  1. Nice one . . . . . . now where's my anorak? So, perhaps the label simply changed names around the time of the Classmen's release? Some came out during the transition on the old name, Classic, and others on Pearce. I always thought that Classic was the 'local' label, with Pearce being more of a 'National' label who released it under licence. Hmmm?
  2. So what gives with the record numbering system being all over the place?
  3. What's the JW2 at the bottom of the label?
  4. Should have KNOWN to come to you FIRST!!! Thanks mate.
  5. Do you have listings for each of them? Trying to track down a 'Johnny Wonderful' release.
  6. Anybody out there that can help?
  7. Am after an issue myself, so if anybody got one for sale, please chirp up. Thanks.
  8. Was wondering when you were going to chirp up. I've got a MINT Demo for sale as well.
  9. You've got a reply, I've just given you one. Mind you, it took me 2.1/2 years to see the question.
  10. I don't know this for sure but was told that the one on Classic was considered the rarer.
  11. I wasn't suggesting that Stafford didn't break the record but it WAS known amongst English label collectors earlier than Stafford, that's all. Not really sure if it got plays before Stafford, perhaps because it was so little known and so rare even then. Knowing about a record back then and being able to obtain one in order to play it at venues were two different things. The English collectors would have been keen to snap up any copies available at the time and certainly not all English collectors were DJs back then, unlike now.
  12. Well, it IS very rare. This is only the second copy I've seen since about the mid seventies. I did HEAR of another one but that was many moons ago too.
  13. How much can you offer for an issue in good nick? That's a UK CBS issue. Not sure if it gor an overseas release?
  14. Hang on to that Polydor copy mate, looks better on a UK label, never mind the better quality vinyl too!!!
  15. Looks like a two way macho fight to me, unless I too am missing something. No, hang on, I've been missing something (marbles) for years.
  16. Yeah, me too, I've been wondering about that one for donkey's years. Mine's 1st September 1951 - no sarcastic comments like Perry Como or Jim Reeves. Got to be a Blues / R&B / early Soul record. I know it's pushing it a bit on the early Soul heading.
  17. Oh, I see. Now I understand. Don't know the record he was referring to so it meant nothing to me when quoted. But thanks for the explanation.
  18. But what is the meaning of the Blue Jays? Don't get it. Sorry, call me thick, by all means, but . . . . . ???
  19. Well of course it does, that's my point. The record is obscure UK release but it ain't that good.
  20. Or, perhaps; The Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata) is a passerine bird, and a member of the family Corvidae native to North America. It belongs to the "blue" or American jays, which are, among the Corvidae, not closely related to other jays. It is adaptable, aggressive and omnivorous, and has been colonizing new habitat for many decades. Please enlighten us?
  21. Blue Jays? Aren't they a Baseball team?
  22. Not that good really, is it!!!
  23. God, it doesn't look like much when stacked together like that. Hard to believe that those two stacks represent what, 6500 records. Makes you wonder eh, how some guys have collected around 40,000 to 60,000 records during their time. I can't even begin to understand how some people have THAT many records, and I've been collecting, on and off, for 40 years!!!
  24. Or "Stand Up Straight" by Pat & Mik? Billy Butler (Liverpool Mardi Gras, Cavern) has been after this since 1967. Well, maybe not every waking moment. Never turned up ANYWHERE.
  25. But Marc, HOW do you KNOW they haven't appeared on eBay? Ever?
