  1. Hi Julian, Remember me, from Greatstones? Do you still have any of those labels? If so, any chance of having one? Would be good if you could remember who the person was you got them off too. Dennis. PS - For some reason, I seem to remember that perhaps you were one of those others possessing a Billy Harner instrumental? Or, was it you who got Ian Clark to sell your copy for you? Or was that Simon Soussans copy Ian Clark was selling? Can't remember now.
  2. I'd want the instrumental because I like to have both. Besides, the instrumental, even though it is shorter, somehow has a much better dance feel to it. Must admit though, I'm very partial to instrumentals . . . especially ones so rare as this one. Apparantly there's only 6 known copies. Apart from my own, Searlings, which is cracked, and Mick Smith's, I used to know who had the other 3 but have now forgotten. Think I've got it written down at home somewhere though. The sixth and last copy being sold by Ian Clark about 4 or 5 years ago to whomever?
  3. When you say 'ours' was picked up on Portobello Road, who is 'ours'? And has 'ours' still got it? Or don't you remember who 'ours' was? Seem to remember 'mine' being what looked like a pukka release. Although my memory is not as crisp and clear as it used to be. Defo wasn't an acetate. PS - Did you fire that CD off already?
  4. Wasn't the last record intended for Soul City Chris Jackson's Remove This Doubt? And wasn't the first for the new label 444 Sam Nesbit's Black Mother Goose. Hmm, my memory's getting all mixed up now. Oh, and Steve, wouldn't you just love to own one of the Billy Harner instrumentals though?
  5. It was 444 and I saw that copy in the Highland Rooms at Blackpool Mecca. Don't remember who it was that had it but obviously, I tried to buy it, to no avail. Oh, nearly forgot, whomever it was had spare 444 labels as well.

Hmmm? Hate being away from home at times like these BUT is it possible this was on that pinky coloured label? Did you get that PM by the way?
  7. I'm pretty sure I'll think of a couple more when I get home but from what has been mentioned here so far, I'd have to say; Timi Yuro Darrell Banks - London Soul Joe Clements Patrice Holloway - Issue
  8. You are quite correct Sir. The American Youth Choir is very difficult indeed but not a Holy Grail. PS - I have a spare of the American Youth Choir. PM me if interested in taking it off my hands.
  9. Fairly sure my issue is a scroll label design and not a boxed label design. Will double check when I get home. Unless somebody else comes up with a scan confirming my suspicion.
  10. Know what you mean BUT all the ones I've got, and there's only a handful out of thousands, I did them all myself, before the days of Super Glue, and they're all spot on, except of course the lining up of the "Sold In UK Subject to Resale Price Conditions" with the title. Pretty close mind but not perfect.
  11. Yeah, because it makes it obvious that a centre has been glued in. Having said that, that's preferable to not having a centre at all. Plus, one more thing. Even after you've got the new centre glued in, there's always the chance that the record will then rotate slightly off-centre. You have to do all this on a turntable first before allowing the glued to harden.
  12. Problem is though, there's a distinct probability that the "Sold In UK Subject to Resale Price Conditions" will not line up with the title on the label below because the prong slots will probably be some degrees off, if you see what I mean?
  13. Tell you what, whomever wins it, can I have first refusal on either of your issues?

Thanks for the encouraging words John. Now, has anybody got a copy for sale? Nick at Intoxica? Not seen you down the 'cellar' Wednesday nights lately? Or is that 'cos I ain't been for a while? Danny at Reddingtons? Anybody!!!
  15. Actually, based on the fact that this label has had about 14 releases, then I would say that the rarest UK label must be Solid Sender, which only had two releases, to my knowledge, both being 6 track extended plays. The label was released by the Warrington Blues Society based in Warrington, of which I was a member. Can anybody come up with something even rarer?
  16. So this is Piers's label. Well, what do you know. Small world eh? How is Piers by the way? He had to miss the Austin Record Fair due to a heart by-pass operation I believe. Hope he's okay and fully recovered?
  17. Yep, that looks a bit like mine. Perhaps not the same record though? I'll scan it and post it up at the weekend.
  18. I've got another release on that label and it's a darkish bluey grey in colour. Stonkin Mint condition as well. Funny, I only had it in my hands the other day thinking, where the hell did I get this? Can't remember who it was by but it had to be half way decent, otherwise I wouldn't have but it, I guess. Can update you at the weekend if nothing else turns up about this label.

Saddened to hear that. I have fond memories of hearing her records down at the Wheel and the excitement of adding them to my growing collection. I shall dig them out and play them now, in respect. RIP Viola Wills.

Please PM me if you have a copy for sale.
  23. Yeah, I'm sure I've seen them. In fact, I might have one or two myself but am not at home just now. If you don't get a more positive answer by the weekend, I'll dig mine out and scan it for you.
