  1. Hi Mike, Was great to be introduced to you last night by Ste Cato, there seems to be so few Scousers on our little scene these days. I can see from your posting that you may not be too much into the R&B scene, but I hope I'm wrong. Anyhow, if you can make it down to the Gerard on the 14th August for the Rhythm Shack, you'll hear some great early 60s Soul too and we could catch up a little and chat without having to shout; was very loud in that small room last night. Take care. Denbo.
  2. Toys or Crystals?
  3. How many of these have you got?

"Richard also talks about another occasion when he reversed his car over his record box (!!!!!) and trashed a copy of the very rare single containing the instrumental version of "What About The Music" - Billy Harner." I'm sure Richard told me once that it was just cracked, how badly, I can't remember. Let's hope it isn't actually "trashed".

This link does not work, the user has removed it. Is there another link available somewhere?
  6. Hi Mike, I suppose you know you just missed one a few days ago on eBay? I was looking at it myself, it went for $139. What about this Stateside 'sample' Lp, is it the same recording / take as the UA 45?
  7. What lists? I haven't seen any lists of Sales from you Tony ................ Have I?
  8. 'That Beer' is down to you Tone. 'When and where' is all I need, providing it's midweek and on a Tues, Wed, or Thursday. :o)
  9. Yes, that's how I discovered the fact about One Horse Town being listed twice. Very odd.
  10. Also came out on British pink Island. With the track 'One Horse Town' listed twice.
  11. That was nicely put and preempted my next comment, which would have been, my mate John Kelly picked one up (an issue) on eBay from the States for $3 'Buy It Now'. Incredible!!! Went to a big Wand collector back in the States for $4figures. Not a bad profit, or what. :o)
  12. Unless he has a Demo or Test Pressing or Acetate, then it it must have been released?
  13. Has anybody else seen it, or have it on US Polydor???
  14. Is it just me, or is anybody else having problems using the LISTEN button on Manship's sight for this record? It was working fine last week when I first took a listen.
  15. Hey :-) And wow, doesn't time fly. Good to see you in Manchester a few weeks back. Take care. Hang on, I'd better make a contribution to the thread. My copy is a White Demo and the only one I've seen. Got another great record by this guy on blue and silver checker. Not heard it played out anywhere yet???
  16. Don't reckon you wanna hear this but, I played that toon (cheers Ste) early set, early doors, at OOTB in Manchester last Saturday night and it sounded great. Well, to me anyhow. Might have been first, or second track after my opener, which was Earl Grant's version of 'Fever', super cool. Good luck with finding a copy and if I come across another, I'll get back in touch.

on the 'Down Home' record label. Please PM me if you have a copy and you're looking to sell.
  18. Desert??? Where did you get that idea from Webby? Have you lived there? If so, when? Anyhow, it's not a desert but a place with lots of sand and a few oases.

He's good isn't he. Thanks Seb.

Yes, and I noticed that the label scans of the Dutch labels you posted had the copyright text in English as well. I have a few Dutch label releases, inc Tamla Motown, Chess, and Cameo Parkway. Except for the Dutch Deram label I have, why are they all coloured orange? I know that their national strips for sports are generally all orange, as in the Dutch football team, but why the labels too?

We can FINALLY put this thread to bed Got my son to go check the details in the runout grooves of my Stax 45 and they read the same as yours. Which means, according to Sebastian, that we have "Dutch" - "Made In Holland" releases. Whis is odd really. I mean, why would all the copyright stuff around the rim of the label be printed in English? But whatever . . . . . . . problem solved. That's a QED. Thanks Seb.

Could the S and the A stand for South Africa instead?

Sebastian, Do you own these records as vinyl too? Or, do you collect label scans and these are part of your collection? I notice you're always very helpful and forthcoming when it comes to information like this and you very often support your facts with scans. Collecting scans of labels is nearly as attractive as collecting the vinyl but has it's obvious shortcomings. Do you have everything collated for easy access?

I thought as much. Nice one, I'll get right on it when I get home. Cheers Seb.

You're not about to give in so easily are you? I will check when I get home at the weekend and get back to you. What is the significance of those numbers in the run-out grooves?
