  1. Why, thank you kindly good Sir.
  2. BUMMER!!! I thought all the Sidra versions were like that. I've just checked another Sidra release on You Tube and I'm gutted to find they're nothing like that one you posted up on Facebook. Where can I get a copy of THAT version? I'll DEFO pay more for that one.
  3. Hi Nige, It's okay, I've found a Capitol version on You Tube. Having listened to it, I'm afraid it's not a patch on the Sidra version, even though the Sidra version does have its raw faults. Sorry about that matey. So, back to where I was with my original request but I'm prepared to up my offer to £30.
  4. Thanks Ernie for your kind offer but I'd really like to hold out for a M- to Ex+ Hope you understand.
  5. Where have all the records gone?
  6. Gene Chandler's version definitely pips it for me. Feels more accomplished and truest to Curtis Mayfield's style. Not that that was necessarily intended.
  7. I'm good thanks Nige. Although I'm off to an old friend's funeral today. Go a sound file of that version?
  8. Can I have an acknowledgement for posting up the original subject matter that led to your label shots with the 'drop shadow effect being adopted? :D
  9. Thanks Nige, you've done it again. After a Mint- to Ex+ copy of Barbara Mercer "Call On Me" on Sidra. Issue or Demo, don't mind. Nice and flat with no label damage. Will pay £25 plus p&p. Will also pay by PayPal as a Gift. Please PM me if you're able to oblige. Thanks.
  10. Are you all talking about one that just sold on eBay for $95? (I'm at work and the office firewall prevents access to eBay and the like) If so, I think you'll find there is currently a demand for the record, as witnessed on here via Wants I seem to remember? Brilliant record. Obviously Curtis Mayfield influenced. Even sounds alot like him. Well, in my opinion anyhow.
  11. They're nothing but nasty 'pressings' them things. :D
  12. Christmas bills or you've got a new 'buy' lined up. Which is it? Happy New Year Ste.
  13. So that's a definite NO, that's not Millie Jackson then Tone? Mornin'
  14. YES!!! I knew I was right. Thanks Rob.
  15. I haven't got a copy of the 'other' version so I like this one the best.
  16. Hmmm??? I'm going to get to the bottom of this 'cos like I said, I'm convinced mine reads Garland.
  17. Hi Mike, Nice to hear from you again after so long. Yes, I remember that. Tell me, does your Kick Off "Don't Worry About Dancing For Me" read Garlon or Garland Davis? Only, I'm convinced mine reads Garland but I can't check 'cos I'm away from home just now. I'm hoping to get some more responses to satisfy my doubts. Denbo.
  18. Thanks Dylan. But did the one on Kick Off get released with Garlon and Garland Davis on the label?
  19. Seen copies with Garlon Davis and one with Garland Davis. Can others confirm this? And, I take it the Kick Off and Merging labels are from the same stable? And did, by any chance, "Don't Worry About Dancing For Me" come out on Merging also?
  20. A very interesting report. Well dug out Mike. Makes me wonder whether we'll all take a greater interest in the world economy now that one of our own is doing reports on it as BBC's economic editor. :o) Well done Paul Mason.
  21. Pretty sure mine is a Slauson Shuffle B-side but not a demo. I'd have to check that when I get home at the weekend.
  22. Whilst the topic is about General Johnson. Does anybody know if his "Gods Gift To Man" was ever released 'somewhere' / 'anywhere' on a 45 or Ep? Perhaps even a test pressing?
  23. Awesome record. Pure Mayfield.
