I see what you're getting at and a valid point it is too. Can't and won't argue with that.
But pitching up or down? Well, I DID say, each to their own.
Just realised something.
DJing - pitch control - often available and often used.
Not DJing - usually no pitch control - played at speed the record was set at.
Notice I didn't say intended to be played at.
I don't agree with this and I think I'm quite well known in my neck of the woods for saying so.
Some people don't have record players with pitch control.
If a record isn't suitable at the correct speed for whatever scene you belong to, then go find another one that does. Another record that is. There's plenty out there.
Nothing worse than hearing a record out, then spending time and effort to track one down, only to find it's been speeded up or down and therefore sounds slow or fast on your record player at home.
Each to their own I guess.
Has anybody got a copy of;
Marcels - Tell Me / Letter Full Of Tears - Chartbound 009
I'm trying to source a copy for a good friend.
Please send me a PM (Private Message) with condition and price if able to help.
Thanks.
They look more like 78s and Lps to me Craig. And as such, a little before my time.
The Old Swan branch of Music Box was one of my main haunts. Had many a crackin' UK labelled record from there.
Other than that, apart from one or two other record shops that sold new releases I can't remember the names of, it was Liverpool's 2nd hand record shops and junk shops every weekend that held my attention throughout the late 60s and early 70s.
How about ABC's Dot Records
ABC's Dunhill
ABC's Impulse
ABC's Apt
ABC's Tangerine
None of these subsidiaries either?
I have no reason to suspect it would be but you never know.
Wonder if it actually got released? Plus, can't find it in the US ABC / ABC Paramount listings?
I knew he wrote it Tone but I read somewhere that he didn't bother to record it himself. Obviously, that was wrong.
A scan and sound file would be absolutely wonderful if at all possible?
In that case, according to the scans above, mine's defo an issue.
Interesting note. This Jimmy Hughes release on Fame was distributed by Vee Jay, whereas the others, and I'm not saying all of them, were distributed by Atco / Atlantic.
