Via a good friend in St.Helens, I have secured copies of the following Roger Eagle cassette tapes;
Soul Dinner
This Man's Crazy
Booker T & The MG's
'Untitled'
I'm still on the look out for more. Can anybody else help?
I'm also looking for unwanted copies of 'Sailor's Delight'. Anybody???
Mine's on Hiback too. And £200 doesn't sound unreasonable when you consider it's a known record that in recent times has proven very difficult to track down. Will be interesting to see how well the seller does with the one currently up for grabs on eBay, having a starting bid of just under 500 US Dollars.
Wow, I see what you mean. Having said that, I don't know what it's actually worth, sorry.
Looks like the last one to sell went for £500!!!
By the way, which one is the first release, Hirich or Hiback?
Fcuk me, that's the best amateur video of a live stage act I've ever seen. And what was up with the audience? They all look gob smacked. Didn't they know how to dance. Christ, at 16 years old I'd have been bopping me head off at that performance had I been there. Fantastic stuff.
I've already had a very informative response from Tony, who has been reliably informed the same as what brivinyl said. But like I said to Tony, I'm keeping one eye open just in case.
Just wondering if anybody out there can tell me if they have, or have ever seen, a copy of Doc Bagby's - Dumplins / Sylvia's Callin' on a 7" 45, as opposed to a 10" 78?
I think the 'boots' were put out with the family's permission, so does that make them legit? That's all I know. Liam?
Best of it is, I didn't even rate this record when I first heard it down the phone but it sure did grow on me. A collectors item. Superb.
Thanks for the thought Brian but there's no way Phil will let me have his copy, it's Yvonne's favourite record and now his. In fact, the first time I ever heard it was when he played it as the last record played at No Way Out a couple a few weeks back.
Hmmm? That's not what I remember reading. But hey, who's to say the author knew what he was talking about. And before you ask, I don't remember who the author was.
I stand erected.
To be fair to myself, I think I'm correct in saying that he was on the verge of signing Pro papers but decided, at the very last minute, on a singing career instead.
Hmm? I wonder? I know for a fact he's sadly in a wheelchair now. (the Tony McGhee who's collection has just been auctioned off)
PS - You've still got a PM from me you ain't answered, you lazy sod.
Sorry if I missed it but has anybody sussed who Tony McGhee is / was yet?
I KNOW that name. It's driving me bonkers. Can't think where I know that name from.
